Kayak Fishing Mahurangi - Sharks & Snapper North of Auckland
Sharks, Snapper and Kayak Fishing, Mahurangi is a special place! Mahurangi is a dramatic harbour that is full of life. This was my first time adventuring around here and it did not disappoint. Workups, loads of great Snapper kicking around and some big Bronze Whalers to keep you on your toes. Had a fantastic time on the water, absolutely blown away.

Fishing After A Storm - Auckland Kayak Fishing 2024
Просмотров 1,5 тыс.9 месяцев назад
In this video I'm catching up with a good mate so we took the kayaks out. This was the first day of good weather following a storm and the beaches had been hammered over a busy summer period. It was great to get back on the kayak after a long break. We found the fish and although most were on the smaller side we still got some nice ones for a feed. Great day on the water and great to see so muc...
Kayak Fishing Orewa 2023 - Auckland NZ
Просмотров 4,5 тыс.Год назад
We are back Kayak Fishing in Orewa for some late Winter Snapper. A few other fish were around as well as a suprise visit from a hungry Octopus! The fishing was noticeably slow being late Winter and having the Blue Moon out, but building a good berley trail brought them in and encouraged the bite. . This time I'm on a Solo Kayak Fishing mission to find a big Snapper. Plenty of good fish came to play, but that big snapper proved illusive. A beautiful John Dory showed up, but how it was landed may surprise you. - - Thanks for tuning in team - if you haven't already, don't forget to Subscribe! #fishingnz #kayakfishing #snapper #auckland

Stillwater FLYFISHING for Spawning TROUT - TIPS & TRICKS for MORE fish- DUNEDIN-
Yes the only John Dory I have caught was on bait
A spear fisherman was killed by a Great white at that spot many years ago
Nice video bro. Do you have to buy a lisence for fishing?
Yeah bro for all freshwater fishing in NZ. You can get them online and just get day passes if you like 👍
Are you allowed to take them or do you have to release them
You can take them, only what you need!
Course for her being fired?
Nice man, do u know where to go fishing around Auckland?
November to around March/April snapper are all through the harbours and shallows. Off the rocks, easturys and sand will all produce. Dawn and dusk is best and a few hours either side of the tide. Just gotta explore! Great fishing round here when the weather heats up!!
Just booked holiday to South Island for March 25, can’t wait! Spending about a week around Tekapo.
Very Jealous! Enjoy!!
Had JD eat a small snapper that was hooked.
Never a boring day on the water!
Great video. What’s the rules on line poundage and size of fish?
Thankyou🙏 Don’t believe there are any rules around line poundage (could be wrong, always double check). You can take 2 fish and must stop fishing after 2. Minimum size is 30cm for trout, 40cm for Salmon. You need a license. Always check the fish and game website for any changes and updates. Good luck and have fun! 🤙
Nice video mate 👏 what is your favourite lure you used?
Anything crusader with blue pink or silver. Low and slow, can’t beat it!
Thank you!
What gm lure is that? Thanks!
No clue bro, just a cheap one. Kahawai aren’t picky!
Nice video mate, but why the music while you're talking? Especially if the audio is not great to begin with.
Covering up that wind😂
Hi mate where did you get your lures?
Usually just jump on Marine Deals and have them sent. Unless I stop by a local shop, can be hit or miss in person of course. Kahawai aren’t the pickiest though!
Bloody hell I used to go out there in the 1960's early 1970's and caught bugger all. Freeze your arse off, get wind burn and a cold and come home empty handed. Looks like fishing there has improved substantially. Good on yer mate.
Cheers mate! Definitely gets chilly🥶
hey mate would it be a good time to go in june?
Sure you will smash it in June, Winter canal trips are epic. Just watch the roads ❄️
Faaaaantastic
awesome, I'm often on the rocks down the end of Te Muri - great spots round there
Great to hear! It’s a wicked coastline to explore - Tightlines!
Mean vids bro just subscribed! Footage looks dope !
Thankyou bro! Much appreciated!🙏
Great stuff! Would love to see a filleting & cooking after a good session!
Cheers! Will have to chuck one in 🍣
Good to see some clear water, been fishing beachlands and Orere, had a trolling cam out and so murky. What 360 cam you using? I've got insta360 x3.
Interesting! I use a GoPro max but it’s definitely on its last legs haha😂
1st catch goes back to tangaroa
You are doing great and the content is awesome Carry on dear But none of your videos does SEO Perfectly. SEO is the most important to rank a video on RUclips's top and get organic engagements for a lifetime. So it would help if you fix this to get the organic result. We can also say that SEO is the lifeblood of organic engagements.
Thanks for the advice, just a hobbie at the end of the day 🤙
really good sometime I going orewa surfing, lovely place
Spot on!!
Nice episode! Did you launch at Sullivan's bay? Any trouble parking?
Thankyou bro, yes Sullivans no issues parking, the issues coming back tryna get the kayak on your roof with a full carpark😂 go early and should be alright! 🤙
Thank you for sharing the view of inside the water ! Did you fish in March ? when was it ? thanks !
Thankyou! Yeah it’s great seeing what goes on under the surface, and yes early march!
Thank you for your reply ! Early March, I see. Thinking to launch kayak in the middle of April, hopefully not too late ^^.
Should be good, went out the other day but weather was too bad to get further than pudding. Still firing just smaller snaps, out a bit further should be on 🔥 good luck!
@@rossi8123 Been using Glowbite Mighty Micro softbaits and getting lots of fish. Got a 53cm Snapper about a week ago in rough conditions (then rolled my kayak). Lucky i got it on camera.
Thank you for introducing the Mighty Micro softbaits, I should try them. 53cm snapper? it's good size ! Unfortunately I have been busy with my work and could not launch the kayak ! Hopefully you will up-load the new video ! Cheers.
🔥🔥🔥
Hey. What kayak are you using...
Viking Profish Reload! Love it on the water, heavy getting it on the roof 😂
@@FFA-Official. New one will be 27kg?
Hey mate great video, when you visited on this occasion was it incoming or outgoing tide? I visited today on the outgoing no success tried the mouth nd main beach never went to the rocks will be the spot i try next time.
Ohh unlucky! Dam that video was a long time ago but I think on low with the incoming also not too far from dusk. Loads of kahawai are usually around the mouth, just persist and hit dusk or dawn you should get on to them! Good luck if you head back🤙
My favourite holiday spot ❤😊
You picked a good one!
can't wait to come up and have a go ! :)
That looks so cool and relaxing, And to take home a catch is the icing on the cake.
Absolutely! Never a bad day on the water fish or not!
Nice one
Cheers bro 🙏
How deep is your burley trail?
Hey mate! I like to get it about a meter or two off the bottom then let the waves disperse it. Here it was around 20ish meters of water so around 18 down. When it’s more than 10 meters getting it below the surface is a must in my opinion. Hope that helps🙏
Fairly sure your only allowed one rod per person
Too good bro you the man
Haha Thankyou bro🙏
Whats the limit per day or season?
2 fish per day, no fishing after that!
@@FFA-Official. Thanks mate.
No worries mate, good luck!🤞
Good one, looking forward to going to twizel
Good luck! 🤞
Awesome Video mate. Are you around Dunedin any time soon?
Nah bro, finished the degree so based up north now days!
Just went there (xmas eve) and didn't get anything but weed. Also went to taeiri mouth and waipori river. Not even a bump. I think i need a kayak or boat. Nice reload btw.
Unlucky bro! Definitely can be like that, super weedy lake. All you need is to find that school of perch and you can have fun for hours! Don’t give up we all have those days, 🤞next missions a goodie!!
great video. bro. I am new to fishing. what kind of burley did you use and where did you buy it?
Thankyou bro🙌 Lots of the snapper are eating shellfish around the area so shellfish berley can be great, otherwise oily berley like a salmon burley is great as it can travel a bit further, both will work!! I like to get the cardboard ones so you can recycle and no plastic will end up in the water! Fishing Direct in silverdale was the spot for that one, there’s also a Top Catch on the Whangaparoa peninsula if your heading that way. Good luck out there!!
@@FFA-Official. : Woa, I did not expect such a great and detailed advices like that. Thanks, heap and Merry Xmas, bro. Looking forward to your next video
No worries! Merry Christmas!!
Hey bro how do you set up your strayline? Nice fish cool video, tight lines
Thankyou🙌- I just use a swivel to some fluorocarbon trace (go as light as you can depending on environment, if it’s rough ground use stronger stuff) from there a 7’0 KLT Hook. Add some ball sinkers before the Hook if there’s heaps of current. You want to float the bait down as naturally as possible. Hope this helps🤙
Great video but please do not pull the fish on land, kiss them, or touch them with dry hands when you release them. It will hurt their mucus layer which protects the fish from bacteria, viruses and fungi.
Yes spot on, always wet hands and invest in some gloves that are safe for freshwater fish!
😂
Just discovered your content and love it brah!
Thankyou brother! Much appreciated 🤙
awesome video, how much kms off army bay did you go?
Just out to the far side of the reef bro, maybe two and a half to 3 km
how deep was it?
I just hit that 15-20m drop off but there’s good fishing all around there!!
Hey man sent a chat to you on Insta but if you haven’t seen I am going to try off of wairewa again tomorrow so hope to see you out there
Epic vid!!!
Thanks heaps bro🙌
Nice video....i like yr attitude to the octopus. Looking forward to next mission video
Cheers mate Thankyou🙌 Theyre awesome creatures 🤙
Farr to much bro 👍🏾 I’d been to join you if you want
Cheers bro🙌 Might see ya out there sometime 🤙
