The counterintuitive ways I overcame my climate change grief
This person has such a holier-than-thou attitude that only their tastes, experiences, and opinions should have any weight and everyone else should be the exact same.
Also you forgot Cosmic Horror.
The biggest r/woosh
There's such a tender beauty underneath the horror genre. One of my favorite horror games is Rule of Rose (very underrated. Please check out videos essays about it on yt) The painful situation that the main protagonist was put through started off from something innocent. To see her finally rising above the ab*se gives me goosebumps all the time.
I have childhood trauma and spent a lot of my childhood afraid. Fear feels safe to me cause for a long time I thought that fear meant safety. I know now it doesn’t and I am now in an actual safe situation.
I just finished reading Krampus and though it wasn’t what I was expecting I did enjoy it. While I was reading it I kept imagining heavy metal music playing while the Belsnickels were running around like in an action movie 😂 A book I really love to read during winter time is the Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey. It’s not a horror novel but I love the story so much and am always inspired by it.
Why go on a rollercoaster when you can go on the teacups? Why go in a racecar when you can drive bumper cars? Why drink shots when you can have water? All of these have simple answers. Because. Its. FUN
Oh my god I love your commentary I see so many videos covering a drama or something where they just get mad at and shame the person making a scene without going into any of the details I love how you actually talk about the problem at hand, why it’s there, and what’s going on in a very factual way. it’s so refreshing, and it’s what I’ve been searching for in commentary videos for so long.
she could’ve easily said “its a red flag if a person wants to watch a gory slasher film on a date” instead of “YOU’RE A FREAK IF YOU WATCH HORROR” and then acting surprised when people match her energy.
Gore makes me queasy, even if it’s obviously not real. But I love psychological horror, body horror, paranormal horror, and cosmic horror. Haunting of (Hill House/Bly Manor) is my absolute favorite series. I have really bad anxiety and a lot of times horror can help me work through that “beyond the worst possible outcome” feeling. Also last but but my aunt absolutely love slashers and her boyfriend is so scared of them but they watch them together because she thinks it’s funny when he gets scared at movies and he likes when she laughs.
I loved spinning silver and the nightingale trilogy. I keep rereading the nightingale trilogy because I love the characters
Yess the characters are lovely! Excited to read Spinning Silver too
I just read “Krampus: the yule lord” like a week ago, I really liked it! It’s not the kinda book I usually read, but it was my friend’s pick for our book club and I didn’t regret reading it. The plot gets bloody sometimes, but overall it was so fun! Krampus is so chaotic
I’m almost done with it and it did not align with my expectations 🥲 I think I was expecting something historical or at the very least more atmospheric (even if it was in a more bleak, desolate setting-I would’ve liked to better feel that through the pages). But yeah I too thought the characters were well-written! Brom also does a good job of raising the stakes in his plot
Idk how this only came to my recommended today but I am here for it!! Subscribed.
I really, really liked your Carmella review. I hope you find a book good enough to deserve its own video!
Thank you so much! Yes, probably I’ll do that again in the future :) planning to do one on the new Nosferatu movie once it comes out!!
Is Dracula gothic or Victorian? Or both, honest question lol
My BIL is a horror writer, and he is the kindest, gentlest person you will ever meet.
It’s hard to ignore ragebait like this, I get it, but that needs to happen so one’s feed doesn’t get clutter by so much crap.
"I've been holding my tongue on this for a long time" You should've kept holding it
I love horror in general and it's my go to genre. However when my dad died out was the only thing I could watch. Happy movies made my grief worse, sad movies were obviously off limits, I didn't have the attention span for comedies or action. Horror was the only thing that was escapists enough but the tragedy within them was relatable and cathartic. It was a welcome numbing agent when all I could feel was depression and grief
21:19 I’m not even joking when I say that kiss activated my fight or fight anxiety more than any horror movie I’ve ever watched 😂
This is nothing but some idiot demanding attention by having a real shitty take. You can tell they were 100% sheltered and coddled as a child.
I’d also call it bigoted/homophobic. Horror is a genre that has always been accepting of the things people see as “taboo” Edit: this whole rant feels like a guy ghosted her cuz she said she didn’t like horror movies. Like her focusing so much on the romance “slasher flicks and chill” is telling
I love horror because " HOLY SHIT THATS A GREAT PROSTHETIC" "THAT'S CGI?"
15:58 Typical backpedaling, TikTok, cry bully behavior. “I hate this thing and people who like this thing are bad and wrong inherently!” *makes a video that is objectively unpopular and receive lots of backlash* “Wow, why do you even care? It kinda proves my point that you’re bad when you get upset I said you’re bad.”
"I was doing a 'ha ha funny'" where? How? Where was the joke? I had no idea she was even trying to joke or be funny until she mentioned it. It isn't even a matter of her trying and failing to be funny, it's a matter of her not appearing to not even try to be funny.
Does she think all of horror are slashers?
Holy shit what an insufferable person
The argument against the horror genre is always based on the assumption that horror fans are incapable of understanding the difference between reality and fiction. I can enjoy a gory horror film because I know that it is fake.
her take is so interesting take to hear as someone who only really enjoys paranormal horror. like girl what are you talking about "violence porn" 😭😭😭
To be honest she asks why people want to be scared when she said two seconds afterwards you could watch something that makes you sad which could be given the same argument
I could careless what someone on tiktok says. It was only popular because peoples attention spans have degenerated to the state of a hamsters.
Bloody love horror 🖤🦇
Just looking at her i got immediate karen vibes ,and i was proven right . She acts like a boomer .
Why am I watching scary stuff instead of nice stuff? Because nice stuff is not relatable for me. End of discussion.
Does this tiktok person not understand what adrenaline is? Watching horror is not that different from going on a rollercoaster ride. You get a thrill because your body is flushed with hormones in order to be able to fight off the perceived threat. And because on a rational level, you know it's not real, you can enjoy it.
What a narcissist.
I'm a horror fan but I hate gore... we exist lol
this is how I feel about people obsessed with true crime. I mean, like what you like, but why do so many people get a kick out of hearing about ACTUAL grisly crimes that ACTUALLY happened to real people?? It's way different than fiction.
This sounds so cool!
Oooooohh
Something about the fact she's pointing out gore specifically as if there are not other genres that are guilty of gore corn for anything other than shock value (looking at you literal first episode of The Boys). Like she's not actually doing any radical thinking about her complaints in the slightest when there is a conversation to be had about the actual glorification of violence and use of xyz only for shock value or to "lol own the libs".
>says she's thick skinned and not pressed >makes 4 different videos about the same thing responding to hate comments 😂😂😂😂
Omg i was problably just some Kms away when you were visiting Lisbon
OMG, no way
The arrogance is stunning.
Unfortunately this is a debilitating case of dumb-bitchitius … hope she gets well soon
whats crazy is theres plenty of horror films without much/any blood or gore....also the “why would you want to be scared all the time” thing is crazy to me. fear is an important emotion! being able to exercise it safely via horror is great actually! “why would you want to watch THAT when you could watch something nice!?” like. im sorry horror isnt for you but respectably fuck off. none of this is your business, YOURE the one being weird by trying to dictate whats “ok” for people to enjoy. “theres something fundamentally wrong with you” my ass
Exactly the sort of attention-needed halfwit that stopped me from bothering with tiktok. I very much agree with all the points you bring up about her shoddy attitude and viewpoint.
“There is something fundamentally wrong with you” is a wild way to start a statement about liking one of the most popular genre of films
I fell in love with horror as a kid because of the Goosebumps books. I was an anxious kid (still anxious) and seeing characters my age go into creepy houses, face their fears, and come out winning was awesome! It's also incredibly validating to see characters have the same fears I do (ghosts are scary!), have the same experiences (be gaslit to high heck that nothing is wrong), be the "odd" one out, and face those issues, whether the beat them or succumb to them. There's also something nice about the aesthetics of a lot of horror, especially gothic horror. It's almost like horror works like every other genre of story telling haha.
I love horror, I hate hate HATE gore. I just cant do it.
