Holding down friendships with ADHD - Why Do We Find It So Hard?!?
Trying to unpick the sometimes bewildering topic of ADHD and friendship can be really tough. Problems with friendships for ADHDers are really common, and it's bloomin' hard navigating them sometimes. I've made this video for ADHDers and our neurotypical friends, so we can hopefully ease some of our guilt and normalise what it's like having friends and maintaining friendships with ADHD in the mix.

Thank you but I tend to keep records daily so a lot of these answers to these questions I normally take care of them myself. So I score 3- I just thought I might have had this problem early on. However, being one that like to take care of bills I make sure things are up-to-date so that my credit would improve. Plus, I have my bills to be automatically paid so I won't have to worry so much about them. It is something I felt was important since I am homebound most times and don't like to drive a lot. Plus, I still work during the week at home which makes things easier for me this way.

Ok, so my results were 19, and I am in the process of trying to get a diagnosis via the NHS, so going be a couple of years before I get anywhere with that; Any advise whilst I wait? Also I wanted to ask, what does it say about me that I found a couple of things really annoying during this video: 1. (I am not trying to be rude, please don't think I am) Your glasses fustrated me, one lense is square one is circle, and the thickness around the circle isn't uniform. 2. When each question popped up on the screen, they slightly jumped, what was with that? 3. When you put all the questions up on the screen at once they were not in the correct order. Order being 1,2,3,5,4,6. I almost want to say these things were done on purpose but I am unsure, again please do not take any offense to the glasses part, but I found it hard to concentrate on the video because of them, surely this has to say something?

    1. At first I thought, that I didn't, but then I remembered that I do this a lot. 2. Maybe there is a language barrier. You mean, like, leaving the room? I don't do this, obviously. When you started to explain I thought you ment like changing how you seat, then I do that, yeah. Maybe it's my posture problems, but I always slide down the chair and I'm just changing how I sit a lot. 3. Idk. If watching videos or streams, listening to podcasts is relaxing, then I'm totally fine with it. If you mean laying, doing nothing, then in this situation I will eather fall asleep(even if I overslept earlier) or go and do something instead. Well, falling asleep if nothing holds me(like, if cat is sitting on me, then falling asleep is easy) to look at the phone or to stand up and doing something that I forgot to do, then it will be a struggle most of the times. 5(Oooh why are 4 and 5 are switched, I almost skipped this question). Every frickin time, I do this now, actually. 4. Well, maybe I'm not noticing that, because I totally finished this question in my head right now and before too. 6. Yeah, yeah I do this. I will rarely clean up by myself, only when my parents ask to. It's embarrassing, but I struggle with brushing my teeth a lot... I probably don't have any friends because I never ask for them first, like all relationships that I got are based on that I need to be at the same place as them. I lost all my old friends. I hate setting up any appointments, like when I didn't go to the brackets doctor, I forgot that I had lecture at that time, then I didn't contact them for a whole month before my mom settled that. I almost decided that I'm fine with wearing brackets for my whole life. If I will ever live by myself, then I will totally loose weight, bc I will put off cooking until I don't feel hungry anymore, I will live in a mess(worse mess then now), and I will probably die because I wont see a doctor for something serious. Once I was breathing badly and had a flu, but I was interested in new game and I didn't wanted to go anywhere. So then I putted that off, until I needed an ambulance. I think that I overdosed with medication that was poorly working, my heart rate was like a cats one. Having ADHD would explain a lot...

I was officially diagnosed with ADHD last year at age 74, female. I only scored 16 because I don’t have ANY hyperactivity, which is why I blamed my sons ADHD on my husband 🙄. Turns out it was me, though likely both of us but his father passed away before adult testing was a thing. I did a different online test a few years ago and got 9 out of 10. When I was finally game to speak to my GP about, after the dietician suggested it, I told her I had everything except the anxiety, and she immediately countered with ‘but you get overwhelmed by things - that’s anxiety’. So with a 10/10 score for a you tube test, she sent me for an official diagnosis and some therapy. Which helped a lot since I have high blood pressure so the medications are out - but just knowing I wasn’t mad, bad or stupid, and that the odd things I’ve been doing all my life have just been coping/masking skills have helped enormously. Now I know when I’m getting overwhelmed to just pull back and do less things at a time. And I use the timer on my watch for 5/10/30 minutes or however long a task should take to help keep me focussed instead of clock watching or thinking up excuses (I know them all) about why I should stop because I’m tired/sore/back aches/knees hurt/should be doing something else or the next shiny idea has taken over. And right now, I should be ringing the bank about my friend’s probate instead of procrastinating with you tubes! Sigh.

I score 16 and can’t answer .2 because I’m a blue collar and don’t work in an office, I’m on my feet all day. I can’t stand sitting on a call past about 20 mins though even with my fiance. But having grown up in the 80s, 90s and seeing very little evidence of ADHD then vs now, I have the assumption that ADHD is a symptom of high intellect without firstly the means to fully engage it due to technology doing much of the work and education being quite a lot easier, also the complete decline of discipline.
