Let me tell you how i found it, what its problems are and whats happened with it so far.

European Car of the Year 1994 - The Ford Mondeo
Ford wasted so much money on the development, and needless variation between the different models.
They were so desperate to shed their image as a maker of boring, dynamically poor cars, they were happy to spend their way out of trouble. Money well spent in the long run (although not as a world car) as it turned Ford's fortunes virtually overnight.
@16ValverYTChannel True, and lead to the very successful Focus. But there was too much twiddling. The GLX and Si had more sound insulation than the LX, the Ghia even more. Then all of those expensive to develop but rarely specified options like adaptive damping, (that would have given you rear discs too!) The Gold Stereo upgrade, and the 4x4 drivetrain. I still love them though, my first car was a 1993 Mondeo 1.8 LX, it was good although a little thirsty. I remember when removing a rear door card to try and push out a dent in the door, (I fell into it drunk walking up the drive after getting out of a taxi) discovering the wiring for illuminated rear door handles!
I've owned 19 XM's over 25 years, mainly V6 24v's in both Mk1 & 2 (and lots of other cars too). Obviously I could talk at length about the XM, but I suppose I just wanted to say, and to agree with you, that I also like the Mk1 'slab' dash, and maybe the bonnet & grill as well. However, the Mk2 is a better car, sorry ;-), it just feels better and works better too; if you've ever been in a new or low miler late model Exclusive, 97-01, they were really rather lovely. The problem I had in the end with XM's was the C6, once you'd owned one of them, the XM felt very, very elderly, tired & drab. I'll always love looking at the wedge, like a little space craft, unless you go classic, CX/ BX/ DS/ SM, the C6 walks all over the XM, when working correctly, it's extraordinary! You have what some call the Mk1.5 there with the neither here nor there steering wheel from 93-94. Citroen really were crappy on the lower spec models, and you really know when you're not in an SEi or an Exclusive, it seemed worse in the Mk2's, although some prefer fewer issues with lower spec'd models. If you ever get a chance to drive a V6 or the 2.5 diesel, maybe in top trim, do give it go, why not have the best you can get ;-). My one piece of advice with a new hydroneumatic purchase is always the same, unless you know it was just done, change all of the spheres for brand new, and service the system, if that's not working 100% correctly, there's not much point owning it (Careful with the height correctors)!! I'm down to just a CX at the mo, I'm in Ireland and it's not so easy to own lots of big engined old cars here, but I would love to have another C6 one day, maybe you will try one too. Hope it's going well & Happy Floating.
Just subscribed recently and watched the mk1 Clio Videos. Looking forward to the new Mk1 Clio coming, a cheeky rare 1.4 S! Mainly sold in France, don't think the UK got many, and I see it is on an Irish plate. I own 2 Mk1 Clios myself, a a Williams and a S Maxim. There's some videos on my channel of the Williams. Keep up the good work!
I had to go direct to the Motherland in order to find that S model...rare as Hen's teeth! Thanks for watching and I'll be sure to check your Williams vids out 👍
@16ValverYTChannel yeah please do check them out! I'll be looking out for the video on the new purchase! Also, the mudflaps off your old mk1 clio, do you still have them and fancy selling them?
@@ddmdrive Unfortunately there was only one on the car and its now living it's best life on a scrap heap in Kent..sorry 😬
A gorgeous set of wheel trims on that. Very nice.
@@pizzalover3 100% agree 👍🏻
The nicest ones IMHO, are the early, around 90/ 91, SEi alloys, they're silver with a dark inner section and a pattern that reminds me of the Manhattan skyline, very rare now.

@@pizzalover3 Heavens, now, now, calm down 😉.
Yeah!!! Great to that you’re back 🤜🤛 Sometimes life gets in the way…. I know the feeling far to well…. Looking forward to see you fixing the XM again soon hopefully 😜
Finally got to watch it. Very understandable with the rust. Def gives me ideas to look for with Brie Good to see you back
@@RetroSammie Thanks Sammie. Yeah, if nothing else, at least you can prevent the same thing happening by knowing where to look.
Awesome music choice. Hate to think how much you paid Elton for him to sing that for you... Always sad to see a car scrapped. 😞
Mr.John let me have this one for free as long as I promised never to camp outside his house for a year again!

MK1 Mondeo Si’s are stupidly rare now not seen one let alone one for sale in years worth a pretty penny in mint condition I’d definitely keep it. Reminds me of the MK1 GLX Mondeo my dad had M829WSX we went to Cornwall in it so many times I loved it better than the mk2 my dad got after it
I wondered where you had been - good to see you back and hope all is okay. Looking forward to the video's mate. Yes unfortunatly Nicole has to go, miles too far gone for a novice
@@The_Car_Stalker Thanks 😊 There's plenty in the pipeline to keep everyone occupied for a bit. Lots of difficult things have happened over the last year and worrying about welding a knackered Clio isn't the priority it once was.

Fantastic video as always! Next time I see you I need a live rendition of the Clio Rainbow song 😂
Glad you enjoyed it 😊 If it's in front of a live band, I'm in!
I had the same spec mk1 Mondeo 2.0Si, absolutely loved it. Handled and pulled brilliantly. The Si had stiffer suspension and handled better than the standard models.
As I said on the video, it's like a grown up hot hatch with the way it handled. Absolutely loved driving that thing!
Nem hogy , veszélyes lehet , hanem világ katasztrófához fog vezetni !
Thank you 😊 In France this beautiful car is unfortunately very rare today and it had been underevaluated by à lot of people 😢
My grandparents had a 1.4 RT Clio 1998 model R952 EAF
Contrary to popular belief the Series 1 V6 XM's were sold in the US by CXA - same folks that brought the CX to our shores. We have one and it joined our 85 2CV Charelston, 69 1'2 ID 21 Wagon as well as our 72 DS21 BVH Pallas. The XM is a very nice car, but to be quite honest, the 72 DS with the original 2 part spheres (with replaceable dampers) is more comfortable for long trips. Combination of the suspension and those DS seats. I think, at least from my perspective, the XM is akin to driving an SM (had one years ago) but with a ton of rear leg room.
That's still got it's original starter motor, it won't be long for this world. They replaced then with a more modern sounding powerful unit. The originals have their roots in the CVH engines and aren't really stong enough. They tend to last about 70k. Not being critical, it's a lovely car, wish I had one! 😊
Actually, it's a good indication of how genuine it is. Starter, rear brake cylinders, Airbag clock spring. Whip the rear drums off and check the boots. When bleeding keep pressures low. I'd avoid pressing the brake pedal all the way down during, it's tempting to do, but can knacker the Master. The unswept area can become coated in debris, when your past the piston through it, the seals can be damaged.
You look about 40, sorry dude.
Don't be sorry Chris, I'm 50 this year so I'll take that as a compliment.
@@16ValverYTChannel Oh, Cool. Nice review, you know the 2.0 gearing was an oddity, lower than the 1.6/1.8. Definitely more sound insulation than the LX, GLX. It's lovely actually, you could do a rear disc conversion very easily
Go, go, new found welding skills! I hate rust but actually, while it takes a bit of practice, it's not really too bad if you can get access to the rust.. it was that or talk of a recent welding job on someone else's costing £1200.. Granted, I'm good at learning hand-skills, but nowadays there are a load of videos about welding cars. I bought a used clarke welder one size up (for less money) than the popular model, got a bottle of shieldong gas, had a bit of practice and mock set-up, then started with the easiest bit on a sill. You can make complex shapes with cerial box cuttings then copy to metal, cut out and weld into sections and insert as one, or add the pieces to the car, until you've recreated the shape. Also, get the car up high.. I used some wooden sleepers and drove onto them. And get a leather apron, neck piece, hood, gloves, and auto dimming mask (affordable nowadays).. those bits will stop spatter from running down your collar/neck 😅
Hello fellow hubcaps enthusiast lol, can't agree more... the hubcaps are better than the alloys.
How do you feel about a Phase 1 C5? There's a lovely 3.0L V6 near me that's very tempting. It's in really good condition too.
My thoughts are simple whenbut comes to V6, Phase 1 C5s..."When do you pick it up?"
@@16ValverYTChannel 🤣
@@16ValverYTChannel I'll tell the wife it's your fault then 🤣
@@HologramJones I don't mind taking one for the team if there's a V6 C5 involved 😉
