I'd forgotten what the Interior looked like. Traded in my 1990 XR2i for a '95 Clio 1.4 RT. Failed it's first ever mot a few months after I got it and was constantly going into the dealers to have repairs done. Only kept it for a year, apart from all the hastle it was a lovely car. Had the slight differences from yours like the single bar between the bonnet & bumper and the extended dashboard
I have to say despite once spending hours tracking down unusual electrical faults on one of these for a customer, I still like this design. Just watch out for bits of the loom corroding under the wiring insulation but not showing any outward signs. Haven't seen a phase 1 on the road for a long time. Look forward to seeing how this project proceeds.
Always had a soft spot for the Phase 1 Clio because when I was a kid, my best friend lived next to a garage/scrapyard, and they'd always leave their cars unlocked so we used to play in them, and one of my favourites was a purple Phase 1 Clio! Don't think it was quite as crusty as yours however 😬. Anything is salvageable if you've got the time/money/skills though! Good luck with it Steve, if we didn't save forgotten gems like this, nobody would!
Ha! Wish I had a scrappy near me when I was growing up...don't think I would have ever left the place 😄 This is going to be quite the challenge Katie as I've already seen the horrors! Still, everyone has to start from somewhere right!?
@@16ValverYTChannel We weren't technically allowed to be there of course, I remember hiding in the footwell of a Mk2 Mondeo from the garage owner at one point! That's true. Nothing like throwing yourself into the deep end... 😆
Looks a "fun" (substitute for other words starting with F if you want) project. My friend had 2 mk1 clios he had to weld. "Paper for metal" I believe he said. 😞 Good luck. 😀
Yeeeeeeeeeeep! I was hoping to do one video for each car but with the amount of repairs everything needs I thought it better that I just update you instead.
Norwich registration number and Allen’s Garage Cromer dealer sticker, local to me! Are you a local lad? I’ve got a red 1993 Clio RT which I love! Would love to photograph both cars together sometime if you’re local to me!
Absolutely spot on Paul, good eye mate 👍🏻 Unfortunately I'm a fair way away from its original home, as I live in SE Kent. If/when the Clio is back on the road I'd love to bring the car back and get some snaps with your one for sure 👍🏻
Congratulations, nice project!
Cheers Frank 👍🏻
My grandparents had a 1.4 RT Clio 1998 model R952 EAF

The fact that I knew exactly what it was by just seeing that it was the winner in 1991, says a lot about my level of anorak-ness...
Nice purchase, pretty little cars, looking forward to the recommissioning!
Thanks so much 👍🏻
Let the welding commence!
Good luck with this project Steve, fingers crossed it's all solid underneath.
Cheers Andrew 👍🏻
If you like watching someone poke a screwdriver through rust holes in their car...stay tuned 😄
I've purchased a few cars blind. A 405 mi16 and a Hawkeye impreza. Both came from Scotland. Both were very much an error 😅
Problem is, I know I'm gonna do it again at some point 🤦♂️

Thank you. Yeah, there's lots of hidden gems waiting to be unearthed on this car so watch this space...it gets messy 🙄
Loved the video! 😀 And looking forward to the series, keep it up!
Thanks Manuel 👍🏻
It's from Cromer! My neck of the woods, that explains the rot!
And the phase one is easily the prettiest, I agree

😄 Believe me, I'm not looking forward to it but I want to save it so Bring On The Pain 😬
Nicely done! I like a mk1 Clio.
Cheers Rich, definitely gonna need some welding tips from you for this one mate 😬
Eerrrr December 2020??

Noooooooooooooo! LOL.
😄 Don't panic I've still got tons of stuff to do with the Focus 😉
