Another character that perfectly represents autism is Futaba Sakura from Persona 5 (and the only waifu besides my darling Haru from that game). She's a cutesy otaku with exceptional hacking skills, her jokes and quirks stem from her adorable attempts at socializing as well as her intense passion for anime and gaming, she aids the Thieves as the navigator with Necronimicon, her Persona, allowing her to analyze palaces and enemies and provide stat boosts, and her Confidant story is one of my favorites because you progressively make her more confident to be herself and open up to more people besides you and your friends. It moved me when she said that Sojiro will always be the best father she can have, and that you're the brother that brought her back to life, especially because of the fucked up mistreatment she got from her own family after her mom (who also showed some autistic traits according to Sojiro when he met her and had a crush on her) was killed by the main villain's henchmen plus the fake suicide letter forged by his colleagues crudely putting the blame on her, causing her to create a tragic palace (the Pyramid of Wrath, a deadly sin derived from her depression and self-hatred) representing her 2-year long suicidal thoughts. I love Futaba for who she is and how she gets along with the team, especially for a navigator who's Persona (think of a JoJo stand named after mythology or classic literature) is a badass UFO. PD: I'm autistic, too. And I wish autism was represented more faithfully and respectfully in a positive light as the characters you're highlighting.

My ex-girlfriend was completely obsessed with this show, loves it to pieces, teared up during Masquerade. I watched it with her when it came out because I wanted to be supportive, but MAN it was tough to watch basically any scene with Angel Dust as a gnc (now gay) man who has suffered abuse. We're still on good terms, so I wouldn't tell her this to her face, but whooo boy.

My favourite representation of autism in TV has got to be Abed from Community and in Video games it’s Futaba from Persona 5. They’re both very dear to my heart.

I used to play Overwatch a lot, and honestly, you're not missing up on much. Symmetra is a pretty bad depiction of autism imo. She just talks about perfection and chaos and nothing else as if tht's all you need to do to know about her to know she has the disorder

i just don't get why whenever there's criticism like this people immediately jump to the "how dare you tell people how to cope with their trauma". yes, people can cope however they end up coping, but that doesn't mean it exists in a vacuum, especially when you put it out there, ESPECIALLY when you put it into a big show. you can cope however you want, but you still have to be mindful of not harming other people? what works for you can harm someone else and why is it ok to harm someone just because "that's how i cope"?

I’ve been doing my research on helluva boss specifically (because I wanna make a video one day) and the thing I hate the most about it is Stolas. If stolas was cut out of the show the entire meta/narrative would be 1000% better. Without getting into things like world-building and stuff (which yes, Stolas’s entire drama fucking destroys consistently) the writers pull hot shit out of their ass just to make “uwu cutesy yaoi” work. It’s especially sickening because Stolas is a predator but the writers constantly paint Blitz as the bad guy when he’s, you know, actually THE VICTIM. Blitz does things like avoids talking to Stolas or sets a harsh boundary, and the show treats it like Blitz has “attachment issues.” Right, because avoiding the person who sexually harasses you whilst also assaulting you is a CLEAR representation of attachment issues. And don’t even get me STARTED on how almost everything that OP is talking about in this video relating to Angel Dust is applicable to Blitz. What the fuck do you mean Blitz sexually harasses his employees, asking them invasive questions and stalking them outside of work, because he has attachment issues? What is wrong with Vivziepop? This can’t be the same person who made the furry Ke$ha video…

This is a good video. It’s always nice to see more people talk about this subject, as I feel it doesn’t get brought up as much as other forms of representation, but also because showcasing as many perspectives as possible is really important given how diverse it is.

I watch this video some weeks ago, now i'm rewatching it again. I initially wanted to make a video based on your comment about how fandoms were romanticized, criticized for idiotic reasons, or glorified for the most wrong causes (like Hazbin Hotel and Angel Dusk) As someone who is working to a Gacha serie about spreading awareness toward SA with original character (Both male and female) i'm making research and ask people about their experience with these topics (making sure they feel comfortable) and trying to avoid making bad representation. First of all, i want say i'm so sorry for you and the fact you had been SA, i hope you got help and you are doing fine, keep survive and try to life <3. Second, It really bother me out the fact Angel actions toward Husk could had been a reaction also due to the fact that everyone was giving him attention, since Angel should "represent" Hypersexuality as well. I just wish he actually MADE an applogize to Husk for violate his boundaries. I would have preferred that the series, instead of doing cringy and filler stuff with Charlie, had actually done something to the lore themes (And don't tell me the series was rushed). I hates how Viviene favouritism and lack of preparation in your series, not to mention how she herself had hired a person who had a r/pe fetish and even defend them. No. No gay man is the same nor has same ways to cope. Joking it off even if it hurts is a coping mechanism and it's real. Angel Dust is a specific kind of gay man overall and what he represents is a collection of life traumas from his past life. I know his type, and he's both pitiful and understandable where he comes from when he actually gets vulnerable. Music video represents his addiction as well as the abuse he experiences. Also, I wouldn't yuck an artist's yum and make it loud about it for who produced that video, at least they know their subject genre well enough to make it.

Honestly I have Attention Deficit and it's really a pain sometimes. It ain't just about having zoomies and being "quirky" all the time. There's difficulties I have had to overcome that not many others in my life can relate to. My point it is hard being neurodivergent, but it feels good to hear people be proud of it.

I likely have autism, ive went to a few professionals and they all have said i might have aspergers, but my mom and dad does not believe this is the case and they stopped taking me. I never got diagnosed, no medicine, no help for it. But i have many and many traits, and ive been to plenty of professionals.. i also really relate to sunny, with the headspace and other traits of autism he has. Maybe aspergers was the reason i connect so much to him all along.
