Redoing my Childhood Bedroom to cure my anxiety
Просмотров 4,5 тыс.12 часов назад
Join me for another major room makeover! We're decluttering, tidying, deep cleaning, thrifting, vintage furniture shopping, painting, & completely redesigning my childhood bedroom to reflect my adult interior design preferences: leaning more towards minimalist & modernist, inspired by the theory that "form follows function." Stay tuned for phase 2 of this transformation! @ phoebe.taylor on Inst...

Wrong On Purpose: a study in juxtaposition
Просмотров 3,6 тыс.14 дней назад
Juxtaposition in fashion When is an outfit with contrasting elements "uniquely balanced," and when is it just plain confusing? Contrast is an important part of creating visual balance: contrast in color, in value, in texture, in silhouettes, in masculinity/femininity the list goes on. But balancing those contrasting elements with uniformity elsewhere is arguably more important. In this video, I...
Avoiding Trends = Understyling
Просмотров 4,6 тыс.21 день назад
Trends are running rampant in 2024, and sometimes the fear of cringing at ourselves for wearing overly trendy outfits can lead us to under-style them. When you avoid pinterest/viral trends at all costs... you don't have much left to work with. In this vid I talk about realizing that I've been prioritizing looking "understated" while avoiding all things trendy, which has ultimately led to boring...

Rating My Old Outfits | fashion memory lane circa 2010s
Просмотров 2 тыс.Месяц назад
Let's take a walk down trends' past and a deep dive into my high school outfits. Are they fashionable, are they trendy, or are they just plain ugly? I always idolize 90s and early 2000s fashion, but filming this made me so nostalgic for the style trends of the 2010s. Pretty please let me know if these trends were universal or exclusive to my hometown lol. @ phoebe.taylor on everything check out...
Basics I Don't Own | deinfluencing you from "must have" clothing pieces
Просмотров 13 тыс.Месяц назад
As fall begins and we start to think about styling autumn outfits, it can be tempting to "fill our wardrobe gaps" with all the "basics" we can think of. But there's really no such thing as a must-have clothing piece. If a basic doesn't align with your personal style, you don't need to buy it! YOUR "basics" and wardrobe staples don't have to be basic. In this vid I chat about all the "must-have ...
Trying to Style Skinny Jeans in 2024
Просмотров 6 тыс.Месяц назад
Skinny jeans are back??? We've all heard the rumblings. Is this 2010s trend ready to make an appearance in fall 2024 fashion, or is it just too soon? Personally, I think a more straight-leg, true crisp denim jean can be very cutesy very mindful very demure. That being said, a jegging??? I fear we will never be ready. In this vid I try to style fall outfits using both. Let me know where you stan...

Styling the Ugliest Pieces from the Thrift
Просмотров 6 тыс.Месяц назад
I sent my sister to the thrift store ( / op shop / charity shop) and told her to buy the 3 ugliest pieces she could find. Fall Trend Predictions *that may be polarizing* (Autumn Trends 2024)
Просмотров 4 тыс.2 месяца назад
I can't believe it's already time for another trend predictions / style forecasting video! I feel like fall is most people's favorite season to dress for. Filming these vids makes me so keen to thrift and create outfits using some of these trends that I talk about as inspiration. But analyzing trends is just for fun and remember to always follow your own style intuition and wear what makes you ...

What to Thrift vs What to Buy New (~*extremely specific*~)
Просмотров 15 тыс.2 месяца назад
I feel like we fashion girlies (& guys & folks) romanticize thrifting pieces that we love vintage versions of: jeans, sunglasses, sweaters, boots, etc. But in my experience, the things we can count on thrifting are very different than the things we *dream* of thrifting. In this video, I break down what clothing & accessories I think you can count on finding at the thrift, what I think is worth ...
Stop Naming Your Fashion Aesthetic (it’s ruining your sense of style)
Просмотров 4,3 тыс.2 месяца назад
Defining your style is tempting and fun it helps us feel like we're part of an online fashion community, and gives us ideas when we don't feel like relying on our own judgement to create outfits. But what do these aesthetic terms actually mean? When are they useful and when are they stifling? If we claim to love fashion, why do we want to skip the creativity and ask pinterest and tiktok what to...

Omg I could watch hours of this!! What an amazing idea
Did all teenage girls have a light blue room? We were all living the same life😂
@@amykayak5054 so cute of us 👯♀️👯♀️
I would wait with painting the doors to see what colour the tiles are and see from there if it's too much contrast overall. If it's too much contrast I would paint them the same colour as the walls!
@@roosvds98 I was just thinking this!! good advice 👌🏼
Absolutely loved this concept. I have recently come to see the similarities between both my interior design style and my style. I hope you make another video like this.
It’s so cool video❤
you killed this
LOVE this concept for a video!!!
This whole vid was SO Satisfying to watch!!! Love it so much, it definitely helped my anxiety in this moment lol
I would paint the doors a dark, warm color to give some contrast but still be cozy! Maybe a rusty orange or dark forest green?
Slay. The lamps are my favorite
Love this Phoebe! So creative
This is such a great concept!!
Loved this!! No surprise I liked the cozy baggy clothes and corresponding rooms hehe
I love this idea !!
Such a cool idea!
Stunningg
lmao not me having those exact two thumbnail pictures saved on Pinterest, I feel like this was personal
@@lilalitaa incredible
This is so creative! I love this idea!!!
I loved this video so much, but perhaps you could try to do another one which includes other skintones. As you said, they play such a roll on the image, and it would be refreshing to see how other skin tones could take part in the outfit.
haha yeap, the message I got from this video was to get a tan hahaha I look like strawberries & cream, pretty active in my daily life but not much tan.. very pink skin tone. I have been trying to incorporate warm tones in my wardrobe(: sometimes contrast is good done well... On reflection actually about this vid - If i think about it after my partner moved in - our home is a good blend of warm/cool tones as he is actually warm/hazel - how cute, maybe I should just play some of his clothes
I love this interior design & personal fashion cross-over comparison concept!
Yes!!
very interesting video x
That's so creative ! thanks for the video and inspo
The room looks quite serene now:) I think you should paint the closet doors the same color as the room. I think the door would look nice painted with a pop of color (possibly high gloss black or even a dark green). Just a thought😊
@@ForeverEclectic I was thinking something along these lines!!! Love that idea
i resonate so much with you! when i got my first good paying job i would spend so much money in fashion, specially trendy things that i would hate after a few weeks. trying to escape from that, now i'm so mindful about what i shop, but i do feel sometimes i'm being way too mindful, because i have very few clothes and i don't feel represented with the outfits i create. it's like you said, everything i own is basic and neutral and doesn't say anything about my personality. this coming season i'm going to try to open myself to new possibilities and allow myself to try new things even if they don't end up working for me, in te quest to find my true personal style :)<3
Such a beautiful makeover
Looks so nice, what about the couch/chair upstairs that was like a green velvet with dark wood frame? I think that would add some nice colour to the room too!
@@AnnaHoulahan yes I considered adding that! But it’s quite big and would only be able to go where the desk is - and I need a desk:/ but I was so tempted
What a makeover! ❤ I’m thrilled that I found your channel, can’t wait to watch more of your videos
hmm I was wondering where my jumper went
I would repaint the doors a warmer white. Makeover looks so lovely you did a great job!
this was so beautiful!! i feel like i learned a lot through watching you make the choices you did about interior design! looking forward to updates on the tiles and the desk 💕
I loved this so much 😭 Literally obsessed with the lamps and I can't WAIT to see what the tile under the paint looks like cuz I also forget lol
The light blue and white furniture with the tapestry is so iconic it reminds me of so many sleepover
@@kaylagarman omg right such an era
Where is your bed frame from?🔥🩷
@@Da_bird_ The Original Mattress Factory 🩵
Did I miss the bed frame / headboard details?! 😭
@@user00616 I didn’t include cause I bought it new from a local factory so thought it might be boring! It’s a solid bamboo bed by The Original Mattress Factory 🫶🏽
The room looks so cozy now. I'm looking forward to seeing the colour of the tiles thought!
You could layer the curtains, either with another lace pair or a gauze one. That would give you more window coverage but also bring even more softness. (Also, I already miss that beautiful red throw you had on your other room 😩)
@@monica7034 ugh I knowww I’ve kept it around for later but not sure it would go with this particular room 🥲
Those lamps are so good 💕
I am in love with this room. Especially the view from the windows. And I am inspired to thrift for vintage furniture as it’s much better quality as what they sell nowadays. Especially wooden furniture.
what are you wearing on your lips in the outro?? so pretty!! xx
@@cassidyoverholt9760 Thank you!! It’s just a Rimmel matte lipstick in the shade 560 crimson desire
those windows are gorgeous
I'm glad you said the part about feeling like crap when you're lounging. That's definitely a thing for me too. When I have makeup on and earrings, the pixie is so so cute. But when I have bedhead, no makeup, and I'm in sweats.. I feel so incredibly gross lol. But I think it's because it feels like the balance isn't there. The pixie is really fun when you are balancing it with your feminity (at least it is for me, I don't have to assume anyone elses experience). But as soon as it feels off balance, I can begin to spiral. I kind of have to just remind myself it's going to be alright as soon as I put on eyeliner.
Isn’t the rugby top and sparkly skirt just a reverse of the feminine top and shoes with the track pants? If she has sporty shoes why wouldn’t you like that even more because it’s more functional?
I’m enjoying listening to you so much ♥️
This is literally how I feel rn, I don’t like anything in my closet because it just doesn’t feel good on
omg, at the end of the period, do u think its gonna stop - like it practically does and then BAM its back and its the worst pain ever?
@@ccultmentality for some reason my sister and I both experience bad pain on days 1 and 2, significantly less pain on day 3, and then worse pain again on day 4. (She also had endo) So weird…
Great ideas!!
I love your videos:)!
your hair is so long now!!!!! any tips?! x
@@mopaige omg thanks! just patience 😭 I also rarely use heat on my hair - which helps it stay healthy but also makes it look extra long when I do choose to straighten it (which I did before this vid) 🫶🏽🫶🏽
