The organbuilder - restoration & upcycling
Германия
Hi,
I'm Benny, a young master of organbuilding and I like to show you some videos about my daily work.
I am also interested in making high quality woodworking like cutting boards or small furniture in traditional, natural ways and with biological surface finish. Old things and antique furniture are very interesting and I love to repair and upcycle these things.
Don't throw everything away, because you can easily fix them or give them a new look and a modern spirit. Thats my way to take care for our only natural environment and to ensure the sustainability of products.

RESTORING an old organ [Part 3]
In part 3 i had a lot of work to do removing the bearer of the old windchest. Unfortunately the glue was very strong and i had to use hot steam to get rid of it. The next step is to repair the windchest and get it airtight again.
I also have to restore the cracked rollerboard, wich was provisionally repaired.
I'm sorry for the pause. I have not that much time for this project since i have to restore it in my freetime. I hope i can go ob with it soon.
Feel free to ask questions or give me feedback about the video. I appreciate it.

Rescuing & Restoration of an old organ [Part 2]
In the second part of my restoration project i removed the leather and the felt of the pallets. Then i continued with cleaning and seperating the boards and rackboards. I removed a thin layer of the boards to get a clean surface. On the bottom of the rackboards i found some old handwritings... Feel free to ask some questions about my work in the comments. This is the first part of my project to restore a ~150 year old pipe organ. I'm trying to repair the instrument in a traditional way with old materials like hide glue etc. Feel free to ask some questions about my work in the comments. I would also appreciate your opinion about the video and what I can do better next time.
I helped a pipe organ back together it was a 2 manual23 rank when I first heard about it this man had just moved it he told me I can’t pay you but you can help me I helped him wire the voice up and I helped him install the keyboard’s and I helped him tune it he passed away in 2000
You are overdoing too many things which did not need such drastic alteration. First rule in organ building is: if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Rather than all you did to that old chest, you would have better been well off just to make a brand new one from scratch.
I personally would have used a sanding disc rather than the plane, it was making gauges in the wood.
On our new instruments we are using a sanding disc maschine of course. Because of the historic parts i want to use traditional ways to restore the instrument.
Really fascinating. Very valuable-more than you know. Great stuff. Can’t wait to see the end result!
Please let me know where you are located at and love the videos and whatever you do you have a long way to go; I play the instrument you are working on; and I have been to a a lot of other organisms I knew in Colorado and here in Nashville so I play on the same instrument by love what you're doing and please let me know what is going on I was sure would love to hear from you soon thanks
Some spoken descriptions might have been informative.
When's next video in the series?
Who is the builder?
Actually we don‘t know
Things appear to be going well to this point. I'll be watching for future videos to come out soon!
Just started watching. Seeing all those crushed pipes made my heart hurt. If only people knew how much time and labor go into creating one of these beautiful instruments, more of the old ones might still be around today.
I'll follow your project. Regards: Stig Österberg from Dalsbruk in Finland.
Darf man hoffen?
So intricate, like a watch Mary only much bigger. My ADD works kick in looking at the emense task to restore this instrument. How ever i can't stop watching you work on it. Nice job! I look forward to watch the whole process. 👍👍
You certainly have a job on, there. I have repaired a number of instruments showing many of the same features which you have, here. A shame that someone used that silicone instead of hide glue, but you have to work with what you have, of course. On thing I would say: in video 1, you seem to handle the small metal pipes too roughly. I would not pick them up by the handful and then drop them into a box. The potential for damage is considerable. Good luck with the rest of it. I look forward to future videos.
Hi pls more Videos!!! , i'm Restoring actually a Romantic Organ too ( II-17-P)
Thanks! Is it also a slider chest or a (pneumatic) cone chest, that was common at this time?
@@theorganbuilder-restoratio1848 It is an organ with a Pneumatic Windchest ( With Membranes ) , but I will be restoring 2 Romantic organs with a "Slider Chest" in the near future.
@@theorganbuilder-restoratio1848 Hello again , The Organ is from 1926 and Yes its a Pneumatic come chest :) luckily there are some Organ Pipes from a Mechanic early Romantic Organ ( Maybe from the previous organ?! ) from 1879 like all the wooden Pipes from the Grand Orgue and the Basson ét Hautbois 8' in the Récit Greetings Jonah Halfmann/ Countre Organs
Grand Orgue -- Bourdon 16 Bourdon 8 Salicional 8 Montre 8 Preastant 4 Occtaves Graves from Récit Occtaves Aig. from Récit Copula ( II - I ) --- Récit Expressiv --- Flûte Harmonique 8 Viola di Gamba 8 Voix Celeste 8 Melophone 4 Quinté 3 Doublettè 2 Trompette Harm. 8 Basson ét Hautbois 8 Tremolo --- Pedal -- Sousbasse 16 ( Violon/ Flute ) Bassè 8 Octave-bassè 8 Fluit 4 Sorry about that😅 I thought you might be interested : D
@@countre_organs3520 Sounds great! I love the symphonic sound and the gravity of the romantic organs. I hope to hear it one time. What kind of stop is the Melophone 4'?
Super interesting, thanks for posting!
Super fascinating, and thanks for sharing everything. Looks like a mammoth of a project. How well do the pipes still speak? P.S. I love the pallet spring removal tool, very ingenious
It definitely is. Unfortunately i have to restaurate the organ in my freetime, wich is not much at this time. :/ Most of the wooden pipes are okay and they are still speaking. Sadly the old metal ones are partly very dented and damaged, so i have to repair them first wich will take a lot of time.
I really hope to see next videos soon !! I am really interested because I have a similar work to do
I will do my best to go on with the project asap.
Sehr interessant!
what a work !! thank you for sharing your experiences, I am really interested in your work because I have a little positive to restore too.... thank you !!
Sau cool Werd ich mit Interesse weiterverfolgen ;)
