Jolly genius's world
Великобритания
Добавлен 15 июл 2020
'Make the most of your opportunities' is my motto. Explore, be adventurous and learn. Every journey in life is a learning experience. As a mother and educator, I do deserve a restful break, however it tends to be a busman's holiday most of the time. This is raw travel without the frills, I pay for myself or usually am able to scrape the airfare and the rest sorts itself out.
A castle and caves in Slovenia
We are in Slovenia. We begin with two days of tourist activites in a national park. We explore Predjama castle, built into the cliff face and extents downwards having a series of caves.
We spend the night in our van 'Pat' parked in the official carpark ready to explore the Postojna caves. The caves are home to a rare salamander, it hosts concerts and has the only cave post office in the world.

Verona the other city of love!
Просмотров 9414 дней назад
Spending a few hours in Verona, a historical city with sights of the ruling, powerful Scala family is everywhere to be seen. We visit Juliet's balcony; a Shakespearean tale is reportedly loosely based on a love story between two powerful feuding families; Montecchi and Capuleti. Spoiler alert; this is not my favourite place in Italy. Sadly, this is NOT my favourite place in Italy and I don't th...

You join us as we climb up to a quaint village in Varenna in northern Italy. We stroll through the streets and experience daily life in Italy. We enter a church that has some sort of bullet holes but even in this tiny place the church is decorated with wonderful paintings. My son as the historian is in his element and as this was his choice he was quick to share his knowledge with me. The castl...

It was a hot day. We stumbled on a church that had visiting Sisters from Belarus selling goods. After lunch we head off to the ferry terminal and make our way across Lake Como to Varenna. Nightmare drive to lake Como!

In this vlog we make our way to Italy, we really do this time. The Italian side of Switzerland feels like Italy in every way, including the driving. Come along the journey as we drive past Lugano, cross the Swiss/Italian border and make our way to Maggiano by lake Como. By the time we arrive, my stress levels are high with the local driving skills, is this a sign of what is in store for me as I...
Another enclave in Switzerland: Campione D'Italia is truly ITALIAN!

In this vlog we make our way to Italy, well not really! Let me explain, we are going to an enclave called 'Campione D'Italia' This lac sis surrounded by Switzerland, but is very much part of Italy. The Casino here is the reason why it has remained Italian to this day. This place is certainly not confused, it really does feel like Italy. #swissenclaves #italianenclave #enclave #campione #campion...

First day in Switzerland, nearly killed us!

You join us as we head into Switzerland, the morning is eventful as we leave the warmth and head up the mountains to a cooler climate. I enjoy a swim in the lake to cool off, then see Swiss cows and then we have a near death experience with a bus up a mountain. This does not deter us as we press on and continue up the mountain. All this and it is not even lunch time. Still loving Switzerland. #...

Discovering the Black Forest in Germany
Просмотров 2394 месяца назад
Join us as we explore the Black Forest in Germany. We have always wanted to see where the Grimm brothers fairytales of the 1800's originated from. They were a way to preserve tales depicting German lives as these stories were passed down the generations orally. I would love to return in winter to soak up the atmosphere. This is a longer vlog as I document our stop offs at 00.00 Schiltach, 16.40...

Venice is such a dream destination! Loved seeing your excitement and the beautiful sights you captured. Definitely agree Venice is magical, but summer can be intense!
It really is intense. Next time I will stay in on of the hotels I saw when walking around and try maybe spring time or early autumn. Loved Venice
@@jollygeniussworld That sounds like a great idea! Spring or early autumn in Venice must be so charming with fewer crowds and more pleasant weather. Can't wait to see your next adventure there!
Have you been to Nairn, Findhorn, Lossiemouth, Banff, Aberdeen.
No not yet, Would love to spend more time exploring the area more. Please do send me laces to visit as it is always appreciated.

Thanks

Ahh, thanks will get some of that then.
pretty amazed at your crowd size there..😁👍
I know!! scary when you stop and think about it
Where do I shop for Gramps's look? How can one man be so stylish? More of this man please. Less of the daughter. I hear that she puts her awful, deformed feet in your face on occasion. She should be disowned.
We love you London! Flex from Chicago! Cheers!
Thanks, I did enjoy myself at the game. London ❤️ Chicago too
What a beautiful all purpose stadium!
The stadium is fantastic, have to admit the best I have been to as of yet
nice video enjoyable looking forward to see the second part
Thanks 👍 It will be coming soon, stay posted

Thank you for your interesting informal extensive walk through typical ancient German villages showing the traditions and the order and cleanliness that is so common in those communities. I am German, born in Africa, now living in Australia, and always enjoy glimpses of my former homeland especially with Oooompah music to go along. Pity I could not sample the beer through this medium!
Ahh yes, the beer. I loved Germany and was surprised, it is in my top three countries for this trip.
Fond memories of going to Largs, used to go fishing on the cruise boats you could hire a rod or line and purchase bait, also played snooker down some back street I think it was called the Stevenson institute, great times
Largs is great, I am biased. Travelled the world and I still am of the opinion that Largs is great even in winter in a storm.
Going to see Blue at the Oxford Foodies Festival today 😀. Can*t wait. Do you remember if they came on stage in the afternoon? There is no programme to be found.
Yep they came on in the afternoon to evening.
Amo Blue Amo Lee são todos demais❤
Yes they are great. Love them
nice trip enjoy it
Thanks, glad you enjoyed
You cannot go from Wymess Bay to Largs on a train. The train goes to Glasgow.
Oh thanks for info, I stNd corrected:)
Beautiful hotel in its own substantial grounds.
It really is!
This is a really amazing video! ❤❤❤
Thank you so much!!
Baseball is really a defensive game. Thats why the defense controls the ball. The strategies are the main thing many dont understand. Different situations dictate what they do. Not just the score but the players for instance a hitter with a high average gets pitched to differently than one with a low average. What inning it is makes a very big difference. I wont go on any farther. To see more watch the 2023 world series on RUclips.
I was focussing so hard trying to understand the game, first one ever. I was lucky to have fans next to me that made a special trip over to watch the game who explained. I suppose if I was in the US I would get more involved. I must say I did like the atmosphere; both sets of fans were mixing together in within the stadium grounds--very different from football, so I am impressed there. Will certainly try an swatch ice hockey, basket ball and American football next time :)
@@jollygeniussworld If you ever go to Boston during baseball season go to a Red Sox game at Fenway Park. It's the oldest major league baseball park still in use, built in 1912. Has a famous big green wall in left field to shield the street behind it known as the "Green Monster" and in 2003 they put seats on top of it that are like a canopy over the street behind it. Boston is my home team and I'm a season ticket holder so I go there frequently.
The best of British. All in the one shot. Tower Bridge, HMS Belfast (built in Belfast) and of course, from Glasgow. The Waverley.
Oh yes, good that you pointed that out.
Mae, oi oi see you on the train today, av a appy 50th xx
Hiya, great meeting you and the family. Hope you all enjoyed the game :)
Am I missing something here , I know largs fairly well, Ayr, Irvine, saltcoats , firstly i am Scottish living elsewhere , on my recent visit ro see friends , i can only assume this video was made years ago, all these towns above are rundown and quite frankly dumps and thats being kind
No fairly recent, my Dad is from Largs and I think itbis the best. Folk assume the grass is aways greener, it is not. Largs has a lot to offer, I love it. Cant really speak for other towns .
Great video 👍
Thanks 👍
Captain we'll no have any steam left for the engines if ye keep tootin'.😂
Haha good one.
worst atmosphere in england
I’m a Chelsea fan but I agree, it’s completely embarrassing
I enjoy going to matches regardless of who is playing
I enjoyed the ride, I lived in Largs for 12 years, drove almost every morning and return at night, Largs to Cardwell Bay MOD pier to catch a small boat to my ship at Holy Loch! Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed the vlog
I lived in largs for fifteèn years, its changed a bit, not all for the better
Shame, It still has a charm that other places don't have.
Am in it right now as am watching this
Did you enjoy your stay?
Thanks for the video.l will be going on the ferry next month. So it was nice to see what to expect..l'm looking forward to the trip.
Have fun!
nice vid happy new year
Happy holidays! Thanks for all your support
Thank you so much for this lovely video. What has happened to my old school Largs Academy?
There is now a new large school that overshadows the town. Sign of the times. The old site is being redeveloped for housing. I am in agreement that Largs is a great place.
nice vid enjoyed it
Glad you enjoyed
Yes indeed Largs is nice but my vote would be Rothesay ,,,
Ahh yes, another lovely place. Visited with family on numerous occasions, would like to spend more time there.
Out of tune bagpipes, a parade with some ropey designed floats, a fire engine and a old tractor. Welcome to North Ayrshire. Thank god you missed the three toons.
haha, at least they made the effort. I enjoyed it!
It’s a small town what you looking for ?
Don't forget the pound shop!
@@ChristopherRainbow-s2e That just brightens up the shore front there. FFS.
Largs is well laid out with shops and long promenade only a few minutes walk and ferries to Cumbrae with Waverley paddle steamer in Summer. Prestwick has also these features but slightly farther back from Prom. Oban also great for same attractions but lots of ferries to islands.
All are great places, visited all these you have named. Largs is special for me due to family connections so will always be great in my eyes. I also agree about Oban, fab place.
Great video! My son and I are staying at Harmondsworth Hall Guest House Heathrow for our 22hr layover on our way to Egypt. Does the subway run to London from there? Thanks Jay
Hi, I would recommend getting a bus to Heathrow central bus station or Hatton Cross. You can get the Underground (Piccadilly line ). This will take you to the heart of London. It uses tap on/off---use google/apple pay or your bank card as cashless systems on TFL transport. London has lots to offer, do the sights, lots of walking but very doable. Any advice let me know, happy to help.
🎉

oh... apologies if I offended, my best friend is from Liverpool and this is what she calls it and informed me that it was known local as this. I guess you learn something knew everyday😊

Shame the number 12 is a very reduced service, 5 buses a day compared to the 30 minute frequency of the less scenic number 7 to alum Bay. Many years ago the number 12 was part of the 7 route loop.
Yes it is a shame, we loved the island
very interesting
Glad you think so! Keep watching :)
Hey Jolly, may I ask how long your layover was? I potentially have an eight hour layover in Hong Kong in September and probably want to do all of what you did in the video!
Hi it was under 8 hours, if I remember correctly I think it was 6 hours. On arrival head straight to the harbour, take ferry and go up to Victoria Peak, then you can have the rest of the time shopping/sightseeing and make your way back to the airport. That is what I did, on hindsight I could have added more but I was worried about potential queues at immigration etc so I played safe. Enjoy your trip :)
@@jollygeniussworld thank you so much! So I'm assuming you got off at Kowloon and then walked to the harbour - and then back from Central? I have eight hours in total but, like you, I think I'd like to be at the gate ready well in advance!
Oh its changed again
We had a great time in Tenby and will be sure to return
