Hello, be careful when you open it. The keyboard foil is connected to the computer center with two small, delicate cables. The plug connections on these cables are delicate and not very stable. These cables are dimensioned so that they can only accommodate an opening of about 45 degrees between the keyboard foil and the computer board. If you open it more than 45 degrees without thinking, it can happen (like it did to me) that the cables suddenly slip out of their slots and you have to puzzle and fumble to put everything back together correctly. I think that's a bit unreasonable for changing a battery.

Many thanks :o) My touchscreen functionality didn't work either. I eventually fixed it by: Device Manager > Action > Devices and Printers > under Devices it showed the laptop had a driver error > Troubleshoot > Reboot = fixed Wayhay!

Should you apply the thermal paste on both the cpu and gpu? (assuming the smaller rectangle is the gpu and the bigger square is the cpu) When I removed the heat sink, it seems that only the CPU had thermal paste.

Liked the video. I have an aspire 5 that is showing overheating only while the charger is plugged in. I already cleaned the heatsinks, fan and vents but the issue remains. Only when charging it overheats. I noticed this is unrelated to the cpu heat because the heat is located near the AC port on the top left side of the keyboard - where the power port is located nowhere near the cpu and other heat generating parts. I have no clue how to fix this. I'm assuming there is either some resistance or bad heat dissipation in the design of the laptop that is causing this. While not charging the laptop stays cool even while under stress.

can the digitizer only be replaced on the a2126?

Did your 3750 HDD to SSD conversion require a "media driver"? After SSD hardware installed, Win10 says it requires a media driver to install the OS.

Really clear video- thanks for this! I replaced the charging port on this model, but when I put it back together, the screen works fine but the touch screen doesnt work, so its not possible to open... I didnt touch the digitizer part and Ive tried resets (holding on/volume buttons) but to no avail.- any ideas? does the lcd flex ribbon affect the touch screen (i.e. I might just need to replace this if I damaged it when I put it bak) or am I going to have to replace the whole screen and digitizer? These tablets have a fit when you use the wrong type of charger. A 15W or 18W charger is consider fast charging for this tablet. Amazon has a superer brand 18W charger that will fix the problem that will fix the problem right away. I believe it costs $12.99. Try this first before you perform surgery on the tablet.

I have my own 2012 Toshiba C850-1HD laptop, looking just like this one, originally with Intel i5-3230M dual core processor at 2.6ghz, 4gb ram and 500gb hdd with Windows 7. Now with Intel i5-3380M dual core processor (2.9ghz boosted to 3.6ghz using Intel Turbo Boost Perfomance monitor 2.0), 16gb ram and 2tb SSD using Windows 10 pro. Total cost to upgrade was £150.

That's IT?! I bought a Duet then the screen broke, bought an upgraded 256gb Duet, that screen broke so I settled for a Tab A7 lite. I'm fixing both my Duets now for less than I paid for just one of them. Gods, you've saved me so much money I thought was lost and gone. Thank you can't express how much this has helped. You deserve a sub and like times a million.

I had the same problem and nothing worked until I randomly connected it to a portable battery charger with a small USB C cable. Now it slowly charges to 100% with no problem. I did this by accident, but now I feel like a genius 😅

My friend followed your instructions to the letter and everything went well. The new battery was installed and charged but now the keyboard won’t function so something I think must have got dislodged but we have no idea what. Maureen 6.05 pm February 16 2024

Very helpful, thanks for making the video! One issue I ran into is that the screen didn't come on after swapping in the new one. I tried going back to the old screen (that was cracked) and it didn't come on either. Uh oh... As a troubleshooting step, I tried plugging an external monitor into the HDMI port to verify the laptop was working otherwise. For whatever reason, both the laptop screen and external monitor fired right up at that point and everything was good to go going forward. I also had to do a Windows update as mentioned elsewhere in the comments to get the touch screen to work after the swap.
