C3 CORVETTE 4 LINK FORD 9" SOLID AXLE INSTALL
At 700 HP with the LS7 in my C3, I don't want to have the rearend half shafts and or driveshaft to brake and come into the car and kill me, or lock up at speed and get out of control and crash and die.....so, for SAFETY REASONS.....I'm going with a Curry 9" rearend, AutoFab coil over 4 Link setup, and a carbon fiber driveshaft for safety and strength.
Curry Ford 9" with Detroit Locker, 35 spline axles, Wilwood disc brakes, QA1 dual adjustable shocks, 150 LB springs. Autofab Race cars coil over 4 link kit.

    • @BretMech
      @BretMech 11 дней назад

      I don't remember the carrier series but the gear is the 12 bolt THNIN series that the edges have been modified, to fit the clearanced 10 bolt case, the pinion is a 12 bolt but the shaft has been cut down so it sits deeper in the case, all custom modified ring and pinion that is no longer in production, If you go to the corvette forums there is a guy that bought a lot of Tom's innovatory and has a few items left, I did a 9" conversion for my C3 and said it would be cheaper to do the 9" here is my 9" install ruclips.net/video/G4TL6d1uB70/видео.html

    • @BretMech

      Good day, wheels are 6" back spacing, I wanted to sit as low as possible for better cornering, flange to flange was set to match the distance of the brackets that were welded to the frame, this will be different for every setup.

    Another LS7 bites the dust. I am sorry this happened to you too. '04 C5 LS1 Corvette driver here. I got real close to getting a C6 Z06 but someone beat me to it and I ended up getting a nice clean cheaper base C5. It's been an okay daily driver with a recent BTR stage 1 cam (.613", .605" lift), dual valve springs, titanium retainers, etc. ATI super damper, Kooks headers, other mods, HP Tuners tune. 412hp. It is nothing like a C6 Z06 but I hope that I don't run into this really well documented point of failure with the world famous LS7. Gosh I wish they would of recalled that motor and fixed that fatal flaw with the valve guides. What a shame about what I think is the greatest LS powerplant GM ever produced.

    Hey there. '04 C5 Vette driver here. So, is that a factory GM timing chain or an aftermarket piece? If it's aftermarket, please divulge from whom it came so others can avoid that mess. I wondered the same thing about my new cam and header install by a local shop last year. The owner told me they installed a new timing chain and LS7 chain guide, but re-used the gears because they looked okay. There is a lot of crummy aftermarket parts for the LS that worry me. Which is why I went with Michigan Motorsports on the BTR stage 1 cam kit with titanium retainers, Johnson lifters, plus other parts. Kooks headers, catted x pipe and mid pipe from another site. I was trying to avoid issues by not "cheaping out", but even that's no guarantee.
