Well, now I know why Glenn Corbett was (almost) always so quiet and mumbly in all his roles. His only other setting seems to be SCREAMING HYSTERIA, the likes of which I have never seen on any other television show.

Trying to like this series but could they be any more annoying? I guess it's the writing and the severe over-acting. Love old series but man this one is hard to take.

Fantastic series with Lloyd Bridges & written by Rod Serling. Loved Lloyd Bridges in Sea Hunt - I was a little kid in a small town in Florida. Didn’t know about this western but saw plenty of great ones The Texan, The Tall Man, etc. of course Gunsmoke & Have Gun Will Travel, Rifleman. This series would have been a favorite.

Great to find this and watch it again. Living in the Netherlands I was able to watch german television, where it was broadcasted as "The Elephant Boys" somewhere in the sixties.

Old liberal American television! Where did it all go? Twilight Zone, The Fugitive, Star Trek TOS, and a few others. Maybe all the writers who grew up in the depression and fought in the war faded away. This was very good.

It is in fact a huge disgrace, the US troops' reckless rutting and raping abroad. But "give me your tired, your poor" is a catastrophic folly as well.

In the credits I was trying to find the writer of this episode. Did I miss it somewhere?? Amazing episode in 1964 that addresses so many concerns within the adoption world. 2023 and we are still asking the same things. Thank you for sharing this episode.

"EAST SIDE/WEST SIDE" was a presentation of David Susskind's Talent Associates, Ltd. ("GET SMART", "NYPD", and "HE & SHE", plus "THE GOVERNOR AND JJ") in association with United Artists Television for The CBS Television Network. "The Givers" episode was directed by Tom Gries, who, three years after this episode, went on to create "THE RAT PATROL" (1966-68) for ABC, which was produced by Mirisch-Rich TV Productions, and released thru United Artists Television (All UA properties are now owned by MGM, through the 1981 acquisition) Tom Gries also directed "HELTER SKELTER" for Lorimar Productions, and aired in two parts on CBS in March 1976, and based on the novel by Manson prosecutor, Vincent T. Bugliosi, and Curt Gentry.

I think I found two mistakes. 1. Shooting the aces inside and no holes in the wall. 2. In the confrontation, the dropper calls the doc "Doc". How did he know?
