Who are the biggest Bottle-Jobs in Premier League history?
On October 6th, 2024, Tottenham Hotspur found themselves on the wrong side of history ... again. After throwing away a 2-0 lead against Brighton to lose 3-2, they became the first team in Premier League history to bottle a two-goal lead ten times. Naturally, the internet had a field day, with “Spursy” making its triumphant return to the discourse. But this got me thinking: how 'Spursy' are Spurs, really?
In this video, we dive deep into Premier League history to uncover the true kings of bottling leads. Using a mix of meticulous research, questionable life choices, and a metric I’ve dubbed the Bottle-Job Index, we analyse every team that’s thrown away a two-goal advantage since 1992. From ...

How much wood could Chris Wood come clutch, if Chris Wood could come clutch wood? Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s talk about the word of the day: “Clutch.” While the term is well-known in sports like basketball, where it refers to moments of high-pressure heroics, it hasn't fully made its mark in football-yet. In this video, we delve into what it means for a goal (or a player) to ...

If you ever hop off at Fulham Broadway Underground station expecting to find Fulham Football Club, you might be in for a surprise. But what if I told you that it could have very well been Fulham playing at Stamford Bridge today,...

Where is the toughest place to play on a Cold, Wet Tuesday night?
Просмотров 86 тыс.5 месяцев назад
On the 20th of December 2010, TV pundit Andy Gray claimed that Leonel Messi would “struggle on a cold night at the Britannia Stadium … A cold, wet, windy one". And so, a football cliché was born. "Can they do it on a cold wet Tuesday night in Stoke". This iconic phrase has since become a football parody, and unavoidable whenever discussions of the 'GOAT' come up. But is Stoke really the toughes...

It was all so much simpler then ... right ... right? Just discovered this video today. I’ve read about the 1967 many times. I do think you are right about the problems of that season. The worst part was that they came along in 1967, a year of major expansion in pro sports in the US. The two gridiron football leagues had fought but declared peace and in January 1967, played an interleague championship game for the first time. The National Football League added a team for 1967, while the American Football League announced one did the next year. The National Hockey League expanded from 6 to 12 teams this year as well. And in Major League Baseball, there were attempts to add more teams by the end of the 60s as well (successfully). The National Basketball Association added two expansion clubs to become a 12-team league AND a rival league (American Basketball Association) was formed with 11 teams. So in the established North American sports, 20 new teams began play in the 1967 calendar year. A really tough year for one new soccer football league to try to establish itself, let alone two.
What is the FLI score of ISL?
Publish the full list, it would be great to look at.
For anyone wondering Süper Lig has a score of 1.3
Another Fulham fan here just saying what an excellent video. So polished, fast paced and super interesting (at least to a Fulham Fan!!). Well done
Basketball and real football are far superior sports to soccer which is why it failed
Bayern is notorious for buying competitor's players. That's farming pro plus
The MLS still exists? Who knew, or cared.
So, as usual, Spurs look promising for a while, but when the final results are in, they don't win. Classic Spurs. Bottle-jobs
This reminds me of the 1919 Black Sox scandal
If the NFL ever wanted to develop a farm system and more revenue for their juggernaut of entertainment it should could easily start one.Lord knows the hunger is out their the only question is how much do they want to dominate just in their allotted season and draft month or the whole year around. I mean right now college football is eating in to a chunk of their projections if they want to see it that way, and the UFL, the the other football off brands which did yield some pretty solid NFL prospects and talent could have easily sustained themselves for more then a few seasons if the NFL were willing to see them as a pipeline to there league, and gave them some support, rather then seeing them as competition.
I mean Donald Trump did have a point when he tried to sue the NFL to force his UFL franchise into the league like everything he has to be an asshole about it. But honestly imagine him being in the NFL right now with his fellows douchbags like Robert Kraft, and Woody Johnson just throwing stunted ten year old boy like tantrum on the NFL’s dime, instead of being president and throwing them on the world stage.
Chelsea!!!
Where can we get the full table
I remember the golden goal and quite liked it, but don't think I ever heard about silver goals and feel like it wasn't given a fair trial. It gave us the excitement of Greece winning a title, so might have made some other interesting results since then.😮
Watching the Spurs almost bottle their Carabao Cup appearance, thought of your video 😂
Silver goal rule simply turned extra time into possible 2 extra times 15 minutes each. At least at that time I used this explanation to everyone who was to drunk to understand original definition.
I clicked on this because, to paraphrase Ted Lasso, I was more concerned about the definition of “bottle-job” I feared it would be NSFW.
I always liked the sliver goal rule, it rewards the team the played better in the extra time earlier on
nice video!🤗
For any Swedes out there, Allsvenskan is: X=(38/30) (9/15) √(4.267 + ³√31,267) X=2.07
America and football but its about soccer :(
because of the success of the women's team, Soccer is now seen popularly, -- no, not by you and your friends, dear commenters -- popularly as a women's sport. Like softball. That means a successful men's league is a long way off. This wouldn't matter if women were gung ho for sports, but they are not. (Yes, of course, you dear commenter, are, not not women in general. Just ask the WNBA.)
I just love the style of posing a question that you didn't know you cared for, getting you invested into it and then finding a solution to it. Every vid is journey and i am here for it. Love the tifo style of animations too...have been looking for something like tifo for so long.
Very cool video - unfortunate timing given what happened at Chelsea! The quality of this channel is amazing, in spite of reportedly being Arsenal fan-run haha. You obviously know more about running a successful channel (and thus, thumbnailing) than I do, but I wonder if the thumbnail having bigger numbers (say, 6.6% instead of 0.066) might make it more attractive to click? Makes it a bit more clickbait-y without compromising on being truthful (6.6% makes it seem like Bruno bottled 6% of his games, piques curiosity, makes me want to click).
There's a small inaccuracy in the formula. This is with the goal difference. Many leagues have their own styles, leagues like the bundesliga are in general way more attacking which will obviously give a higher goal difference. Series A is more defensive which reduces it...
Love your videos bro, really appreciate the information you provide and even as a spurs fan found this video to be very informative. Thanks alot and please do continue with the content.❤
This is all well & good, but what happens when you add Kurt Angle to the mix
Your chances of bottling, drastic go down.
So it's the spanish one. It's only real or barca
which was the only time man utd lost in a 2 goals lead??
Good channel
I think a big problem is the lack of American representation in the sport. And it's due to the lack of insintive to be in the sport. Most natural freak athletes are going to be playing American football, basketball or baseball. Why wouldnt they? Not only is it probably what they grew up watching, there's way more university scholarships opportunities and professional money to be made. Look at their women, they don't have American football and baseball, and if their not 6ft+ then they're probably going to be playing soccer.
Spurs are spursy because we know they are good but we also know that they inevitably will fail is a bottle-job fashion. WBA for example can't be spursy because the simply are never that good (i.e. top 6 side almost every year).
big surprise that kane is within the cumulative clutch top 5, given he had 0 career goals/assists in all finals, 0 career trophies, and has that tottenham bottlejob dna deeply embedded. he is the first player most people think of when discussing who is least clutch.
1:44 thought at first it was a joke or some kind of friendly game. After a little search, i think that tournament had the best sponsorship naming of all! (the Milk Cup is my favorite one)
Thanks for that disclaimer about the PTSD . For that 4-4 against Newcastle i hosted my mates at home, the banter after the game was painful
I was in Stevenage Road stand the other week, didn't know it is the oldest stand in football league still in use, great vid 👍
Newcastle without a doubt
Menção ao Bangu 👍
Whats wrong with playoffs? Include the playoff leagues and get a real number. Champions League is a playoff. You dont seem to have any problems with that? Plus, throughout a long season, players get hurt, so a playoff at the end measures the entire season. Also, why not just include the best record of the leagues you "binned" and ignore their playoffs? Are you trying to hide something?
as a saints fan i should have seen this coming 😭😭😭
1:06 What is the Uniʔed States?
1:38 Never mind that's still better than eever.
1:07 What is the Uni'ed States?
So the so called "most competitive league" in the world is basically equally difficult to Laliga that everyone tells us is not competitive at all... Shows you the power of the media narrative
Cyprus just has play offs after the regural season that are added to the regular season. So the points are a continuation nothing gets deleted. Yoi shouldnt have exluded them
Soccer sucks
Who has bottled the league the most ?!?!
Appreciate the respect for Big Dion in this video 😁
Fantastic vid
You did very great explanation mate
Why don’t you call it soccer??!!! Click bait!!!😡😡😡😡
because he’s not american. why dont you call the nfl “american football”?
