The foundations of the presently visible building, including the basements, date from a castle that was erected on the cliff most probably at the end of the 15th century, when the land was owned by Nils Bosson Sture.
The history of the estate, however, goes even further back, although earlier there was no fortification on the site.
The preceding farmstead was by 1260 in the possession of a landowner called Karl Ulfsson, who joined the Teutonic Order in a crusade against non-Christians in the present-day Baltic states. He died in the Battle of Durbe and in his will left several of his farms to the Teutonic Order. It is therefore possible but not certain that the land for a while was in the p...

    We have an awful problem right now here in Sweden that’s rocking the whole country. To put things into perspective it’s always been the destitute outcasts of society that have committed the most crime. That’s exactly what’s happening now with the difference being that it’s no longer native Swedes and the level of violence has increased significantly. It used to be knives and fists and now it’s guns and bombs which have become easier to obtain because of internet technology. Crime rates have steadily gone down but that’s not so comforting to the person whose front door has just been blown off or the person living on the street where a gang member has just been gunned down. We need to stop blaming immigrants and start looking at what has gone so wrong. Segregation, lack of opportunity to assimilate unless you’re fluent in Swedish or English, lack of job opportunities due to language barriers and so on.

      @@E-jit I completely understand what you are saying. The thing is: regardless of what the circumstances are….we as people always have a choice to decide what we want to do. We can decide to live a good life or we can decide to become criminals and cause havoc on society. It’s not societies fault if someone decides to pick up a gun and shoot someone in the head or blow up a building. That individual decided to do those horrific and horrible things on their own. There are millions of people in Sweden that are having alot of difficulties with society and problems but they don’t decide to pick up a gun and shoot someone or cause problems in society. There are just some bad and evil people in this world and society has nothing to do with them deciding to be horrible human beings.

    • @E-jit
      @E-jit 12 дней назад

      @@GarthLovesTRAVEL I disagree with you to an extent. When you’re that desperate to get out of your current situation you might not feel like you have a choice. These gang members very often seek out children to do favors for them and when the kids want out they’re shamed because the gang member has “done so much for them” and has probably given them quite a lot of money coming from illegal activities.

    • @GarthLovesTRAVEL
      @GarthLovesTRAVEL 12 дней назад

Again there are millions of kids and adults that are facing extremely hard conditions including integration and they make their “own” decision not to murder people. You can try to justify the society has to be blamed notion but in the end it’s their own fault they make these decisions not ours to be paid for their poor choices. Lillkyrka is the name of the village, but you are correct in that it means little church. The village is probably named after the church. So this is Lillkyrka kyrka, Littlechurch church. The k:a on the sign is short for kyrka, church. The church of Sweden is much smaller now than when most of these churches were built, so they don't have staff enough for each church building. In some places they keep them open anyway and trust the tourists, and in other places they've had bad experiences doing that.

      @@frankkrunk thanks for your comment and thanks for watching. I shouldn’t have said “ a lot” I should have said “some”. Not “all” of the nazis went to the United States and South America. I know descendants of nazi soldiers and higher ranking members of the nazi party who live in Denmark, Sweden and Norway. I know them personally and have heard their stories growing up and finding out about their family history. Their last names were also changed from their German ones to more Scandinavian ones to fit in. There were thousands of soldiers and officers in hitlers army, Air Force and navy. Of course majority of them went to South America and various counties in Europe even Africa. America took the top scientist and researchers that aided with the development of weapons and rockets. A investigative report put the number between 8-10,000 that came to the United States under the CIA operation. It is stated that around 12.5 million Germans served in hitlers military. I really don’t think “all” of them escaped to the United States and South America considering they would blend in quite easy in Scandinavia being mostly blonde hair and blue eyes 😂.

      Göring even lived in Stockholm. The nazis were very impressed with the "Race biological institute" in Stockholm. It even inspired them.

    Nice video! Huge respect to your passion and dedication of your vlogg! Wheter you agree or disagree, the background history of Joe Hill is a very interesting reading. From Gävle to Utah and the drama that took place there in 1915. A lot can be found online, at libraries or bookstores. Not only his songs lived on, but also how he influenced many musicians world wide yet today. Greetings from Göteborg

    It's beautyful, I have been on a wedding at the chapel inside the castle, you really get the feeling of the Swedish 17th-century baroque , chalk white walls, light and dark shades of grays and black details, but minimalistic in termes of baroque!
