“Here at BYU it is not an academic program or an athletic program or even a missionary or a leadership program that is under construction here. It is you. You and I. We are the whole point of it.”
“The key to finding rest and renewal is give ourselves wholly, and whole-heartedly, to God’s work and His will. To resist and live the half life is exhausting.”
A wonderful uplifting talk, just what I needed to hear!

I have a book titled “However Long and Hard the Road” which is a collection of talks given by Jeffrey R Holland when he was serving as President of BYU. This particular talk has been so powerful to read anew while in the midst of a struggle.

This was an excellent talk. I was 11 when this was given, living in Michigan. I'm grateful it's available for me to hear now.

I usually drift mentally and have the need to rewind (out of respect and obediance), this talk was fairly easy to hear out the whole way through.. it is relevant to my current journey and rewarding to what I sometimes wondered the value of...thanks to speaker and those responsible for sharing it..

I love this talk! I attended the “Y” in the early 1970’s. This is like the devotionals I remember. I cherish that view of the campus with the Provo temple in the background. I loved that temple. I took out my endowment there in preparation for my mission. When I returned from that mission I would go through a session at least twice a week. I’m sure that the church leaders had their reasons for tearing it down and rebuilding it. But I sure miss it. I miss the campus and the rules I agreed to follow. Those rules were for my benefit. I didn’t always appreciate them. Some were difficult for me to live. But when I did live I was much happier and it became easier to live them. And the teachers I had were awesome. They taught me with the Spirit. The whole campus was filled with the Spirit of Jesus Christ . BYU has been experiencing some great challenges and upheavals in recent years. I hope that they can return to the path that the Lord wants them to take. I hope and pray for this often.

Thank you for sharing those precious stories. They are sure testimony strengthening and help me feel such gratitude for those who made major sacrifices for us. (I live in New Zealand) my family history shows that I have family who were among those who trod the path of your grandfather. ❤

Thank you how we take things for granted. How tough life Was for those early saints and how hard they worked.
