North East Link Project Update | TBM Assembly Nears Completion

Exciting progress has been made on North East Link in Melbourne where the first of the team’s two colossal tunnel boring machines (TBMs) is almost fully assembled. These 4000-tonne giants will start digging the 6.5km road tunnels from Watsonia to Bulleen in the coming months.
Webuild, as part of the Spark Consortium is delivering North East Link. The project will enable a more sustainable future by taking 15,000 trucks off local roads every day and reducing travel times by up to 35 minutes for commuters. Once complete, it will be the longest road tunnel in Victoria.
