"Miracles" was all over the radio when I was a kid, trey seventies, as it were. The subtext of the song is a lament for the end of the "All You Need Is Love" era as the sixties faded into the seventies. Jefferson Starship formed from the ashes of the Jefferson Airplane, one of the pioneering bands of psychedelic rock. They headlined the Monterey Pop Festival (1967), Woodstock (1969), Altamont Free Concert (1969), and the first Isle of Wight Festival (1968). That's about as sixties as it gets.
We call it "Classic Rock" for good reasons.... Great lyrics/vocals, great rock beat/tempo, multiple instruments used and throw in a SAX Solo just to make it a true classic.
Among their biggest and best songs as Jefferson Starship. Marty Balin was really good as the lead on this and quite a few others as well as in the days when they were the Airplane!Another fantastic tune and instrumentals with Marty on lead is St. Charles, a whirlwind of a song!
So far I'm liking how you react. You let the song play and then you talk afterwards. That way you don't interrupt the song or the feeling that the song brings out in people or doesn't bring out depending on who you are
This is the bands biggest hit off their biggest album! Thanks for doing the long version. A sadly forgotten song from Starship’s first album is “Caroline”… don’t miss that great Marty ballad!
Such a sublime song, one of my all time favorites. You have Marty Balin's ethereal vocals and lyrics that remind me of a guy laying on a hammock and waxing poetic about his love, and then you have the backing vocals, led by the inimatable Gracie Slick, that are a passionate counterpoint that keep the song from devolving into sappiness. And then there's the meandering, dreamy composition and arrangement that ties it all together. Beautiful choice, beautiful reaction, J!
A stunning song in every way. Marty Balin era of Jefferson Airplane, Jefferson Starship, Starship is the best for me. Check out Count On Me. Also very beautiful vocals and melody, etc.
Great reaction! I have been waiting for a big channel to react to this song. It is one of the most intricate vocal performances in rock. They are singing almost through the whole song. There is just a very short sax solo. Despite being “vocal heavy” it never gets boring or seems repetitive. It is a masterpiece of pop music. Very unique! Thanks!
As a young teenage male, when this came out, I loved this song and considered it education to my growing up. I still listen to this song with great fondness. It's still a top 10 in my all-time list. That bass line and sax at the end got me. I was in love with Grace Slick, especially on those backing vocals.
This is arguably the best Jefferson Starship album and Marty Balin's lead is so good and Grace Slick and Paul Kantner in backing vocals. Count On Me is another good one and I would add to that Love Too Good with Grace on lead vocals. Craig Chaquico on guitars is fantastic. Such a great guitarist, after Airplane and both Starship versions he went on to play jazz guitar and has a good album with Russ Freeman of the Rippingtons. The two best Jefferson Starship albums with Mickey Thomas are Stranger and Winds Of Change.
i sang along with this song once and actually managed to hit and sustain that note that balin holds in the middle of the song. he must have just about killed himself to do it. a very beautiful (and very sexual) song.
Now, take a listen to the track called, "Love Too Good" on Jefferson Starship's album, 'Earth' - all vocals by the legendary Grace Slick, some great blue-eyed soul!
I know this sounds silly - but this song makes me think of one thing only - about one person - 1975-76. NYC. I bought her the (vinyl) album because she loved this song - and -
You skipped over the part where he went down on her LOL!! Wonder if the FCC knew what they were saying in this song? If they had, it probably wouldn't have passed the grade. In any case, I love it, always have, always will...but when it came out I was a kid and didn't know what the lyrics were...couldn't really understand what they were singing since it's blended so well.
Grace Slick backing vocals … She sang a lot of leads in the first incarnation of this band Jefferson Airplane ( White Rabbit, Somebody to Love, Wooden Ships etc..)..
Whoa, craig. I wasn't insulting you or your opinion. What's your damage?@@craigmarkowski7156 I was commenting on the fact that several people I have PERSONALLY seen comment that it is repetitious, but that they never really noticed it before because they like the song so much and/or because it's such a good song. It was a general observation that if a song is repetitious but people don't tend to notice that then it's probably a pretty good song. What do you find so objectionable about that? SHEESH! Looking for trouble when there isn't any much?
I noticed that line when this song was played at the grocery store one time. Made me wonder if they had listened to ithe lyrics before putting it in the playlist.
Hm this sounds a little different from what I remember. I thought this song was a bit more bombastic. Maybe it's just my memory, been a long time since I've heard it.
Marty's voice with Grace behind him is a perfect combination.
Soooo sultry!
@@babylonsister118 Grace sounds wicked, almost evil.... Gotta love it.
@@AliasMark69 Hell yeah!
One of the most sensuous songs ever.
The late great Marty Balin. 'Hearts' is another great song as a solo artist.
❤️
Outstanding song love it !!!
This is a great song and selection. Takes me back to my high school days, what a wonderful time the 70's were.
Glad you enjoyed it. Been in my favorite list for the last 40+ years.

I used to play this for my wife and it just always set the mood! We'd just dance all the way through the house to you know where.☺
Nobody can write a love song like Marty Balin!!
Marty Balin is amazing ! This is pure, 100% top shelf baby making music
Thank you for not interrupting the song. Some people like to interrupt every 30 seconds or whatever. What a great way to ruin the experience.
"I had a taste of the real world, when I went down on you on you girl." Man how I miss the 70s.
the greatest decade to grow up in.
I had the taste of the real world, when I went down on you.
They don’t write em like that anymore.
And the other erotic verse.... You ripple like a river when I touch you
When I pluck your body like a string
When I start dancin’ inside ya
Baby makin music ❤
Beautiful song check out count On Me
Yes! I like the Old Grey Whistle Test version
Great song! Glad it's one you didn't miss out on. Many reactors do miss it, and it's a shame
One of the best, most shameless love songs I have ever heard. I never get tired of it. This is UNABASHED love. Brilliant production.

In my top 10 Classic Rock songs
You have more than a master's degree in life/love bro. Keep up the great work 👍🙏❤️

Great song.. nice to see the long version done
I saw the Jefferson Airplane in '66 and '67 and met a few of the members...great band...great music..
Definitely a first class album in my collection.

HUGE Radio Hit.On my list for suggestions for a while, so many to pick from. I built the Fender Rhodes Piano used in this tune.
They be makin' babies in this song!
St. Charles, another great one
One of my all time favorite songs!
Agreed. St Charles is the best thing they ever did. It's truly a must listen.

#1 Love Song ever written and performed!'😊 (Tied only with Air That I Breathe by The Hollies).
There was a radio-friendly edited version of this song that packs a much different punch. Maybe check it out
What a great reaction! Thank you!
Truly a wonderful Love song.💜👍
Jefferson Airship, aka Jefferson Starship.

Great making love song ❤❤❤❤
This is a "baby making" song seriously. I was like between 6 and 8 years old and I understood then even though I didn't know yet how babies were made😂
Same here! Lol

Classic Marty Balin (RIP) vocals … He also has some solo releases that are great listening..
Grace Slick backing vocals … She sang a lot of leads in the first incarnation of this band Jefferson Airplane ( White Rabbit, Somebody to Love, Wooden Ships etc..)..
The first incarnation of the band had a different female lead singer.@@xtrmfc
@@lauraallen55 . You would be correct Toly Anderson was the first female lead , before Grace Slick would replace her ..

Erotically, beautiful! Heavenly. One of the best songs ever in my book
This entire album is worth a listen...or two...or three. Great choice, brother!
Naughty song.
Definitely a quaalude vibe
The most over looked line "I Got a Taste of the Real World When I Down On You Girl".
I noticed that line when this song was played at the grocery store one time. Made me wonder if they had listened to ithe lyrics before putting it in the playlist.
Oh now I get why my mom never let me listen to this group. She didn't want to have to explain the line "when I went down on you girl" to me.
Nobody ever tries out the album, Lou Reed- Rock and Roll Animal. Plz try Sweet Jane with the intro from Steve Hunter.
Greatest intro ever, and it's live

Naughty and nice ar rhe same rime.
Fast buck Freddy was another good song on this album
Che ne pensi di ascoltare Hypnotized dei Fleetwood Mac tratto dall'album Mistery to me?
Have you had any suggestions for Betty Blowtorch
Marty was mad about Grace btw and she treated him horribly. He wrote all these great songs for her. Kind of a reverse Fleetwood Mac thing
Marty Balin was a cunning linguist
Hm this sounds a little different from what I remember. I thought this song was a bit more bombastic. Maybe it's just my memory, been a long time since I've heard it.
Beautiful song, but I actually prefer Marty Balin's solo version better than the Jefferson Starship version.
His song Caroline from the Dragonfly LP is another great one, better than this song IMHO
