T.W. Milburn I was wondering if anybody would mention the camo slippers! :-)I had to check the fly of my PJs to make sure it was closed a couple of times! No need to be waving that thing around! As always, thanks for watching!
Well done sir.. I can't get enough fishing in so days like today when the wife says no. I live through watching vids like yours . Thank you ... Suscribing now....
39camper I would have liked to hook a fish! It was a long one... most of my videos are under 12 minutes and this was twice as long. I'm really glad everyone seems to have liked it.
voodoopepper2008 Glad you enjoyed it! One of my subs said I made a mistake with the Chamomile. He said it was Fleabane. Both are members of the Aster family, but Chamomile leaves are different than the Fleabane even though the flowers are similar. I haven't checked into it yet, but I will for sure! I also want to check the seeds of the wild raisin I thought was honeysuckle. The seeds should be flat and sort of look like watermelon seeds. The ripe (blue/black) berries are dry to the taste and not as sweet as blueberries.
Thanks, glad you liked it. It was a nice spot to camp. I should have been drinking more water on the hike out there. Watching the video now, I see signs of dehydration... slurred speech, misjudging distances when I leaned up against the tree, that sort of thing.
w2ville Thanks!! It was a lot of fun getting out there. I'm hoping to do a couple more overnight fishing trips this summer. I have two other locations in mind!
+Alexis Yaj I'm glad you enjoyed it! I'm planning more camping and fishing videos this year... maybe I'll actually catch a fish while the camera is recording! Thank you for watching!
Loved the trip Jim! Thanks for bringing us a long. Too bad the fish didn.t like your lures. I am not a fly fisherman either, but when I go fishing I usually bring a long a streamer. (like a Mickey Finn)(it's a good attracting streamer) That may help you. Thanks again heading too part 2 :)
NEKCanoeist Thanks for the tip! I'll write down the name of that lure and look for it the next time I'm at a fishing shop! Glad you enjoyed the video even though there was no "fish action" :-)
I just love kippered herring as a snack, but never thought about taking it along camping! I will put a couple of cans of it along with 2 packs of lemon juice in my truck kit I am building! That and a couple of shrimp Raman noodle packs! Thanks for the idea!
Thanks buddy. The hike in was harder than I thought because where on the map it looked like a clear-cut (along the power lines) was actually an overgrown thicket. I didn't get any video of that part though. I'm glad you liked the video!

Muskrat Jim Jim, I found this one that I think is the same story Nat-O-We used to tell, According to the Cherokee Indian legend, two warring tribes, fighting over a choice hunting ground, waged war over a hill, down a valley and into a village. All the villagers were killed except for two sisters who hid in the woods. Both wore doe skin dresses, one dyed lavender-blue with fringe, the other one bright yellow. The sisters sought out the Herb Woman who lived over the mountain in another valley. This woman gathered herbs by day and brewed magic potions by night, a gift given to her by the gods. As the sisters slept that night under the stars, the Herb Woman looked into the future and saw that these little girls would be hunted down by the enemy. So she sprinkled them with a magic brew and covered them with leaves. In the morning there were two flowers where the sisters had been. One was the lavender-blue aster, the fringe from the dress having been turned into the outer flower petals of the aster. The other flower was the yellow goldenrod.
+JASON BLANCHARD Thanks for spending so much time watching my videos! The gas stove is necessary around here (New Brunswick Canada) because the gov't usually has bans on open campfires unless it's been raining.

Hi Jim!! Great video! Hope you caught some fish. Nice camp site.. looked real cozy and out of the way.. I have crawled thru a lot of scrub like that too. haha.. Sometimes can be a real chore. Especially if there are mosquitoes to go along with it.. I was wondering? What water filter are you using? Gravity feed seems like an idea. I have a pump one but anything mechanical can also lead to part failure.. is it clean able ? Does this reservoir have road access? Good place to launch a canoe???? hint hint Hope you are doing well!!
+Michael Zlab No road access, but it would be a short portage. However, I don't think any boating is allowed because it is our town's drinking water reservoir. The filter is the Aquamira Frontier Pro (in Canada) or the Pioneer Pro (in the States). It is not "cleanable" but can filter 50 gallons. Here's a link: www.aquamira.com/products/aquamira-frontier-pro-filter-system/ I am doing pretty well, but I'm away on a business trip this week and next, so no trips into the woods.
Awesome spot, my friend! Pity you didn't catch any fish, but sometimes you win and sometimes you don't) got a question... you made camp at about 6pm, how long and what distance did you hike? Also, how far away are you from civilization? I find it interesting that you have the same weather as in Kiev now) one more thing, it feels good to have a source of water nearby, doesn't it? I mean, food is important and all but when you have a source of water and you can drink freely, everything seems so much better) thanks for taking us along, brother... really enjoyed it)
***** The trip in took longer because I stopped along the way to pick berries and talk about those plants. Also I stopped to fish for an hour or so before setting up my camp. I pulled my gear out of the trunk at about 1:30pm. It was around 3:00pm when I reached the spot with the big tree. (I didn't even look up to see what kind of tree it was or how tall it was... pity.) I fished for about 2-1/2 hours, then moved on to where I wanted to camp. Filming it also takes more time because you often have to walk back and forth to film the shots. (I crossed that beaver dam three times: once to put my camera on the far side, then again to return to the place I started, and a third time which was what you saw in the video!)The distance from my car to my camp was about two kilometers. I followed a trail for the first kilometer, but the second was through pretty dense brush with no trails. Leaving was a lot quicker and I used a different route. I went straight through the brush (no trails) to the highway where I had arranged for my brother-in-law to pick me up with my car. That hike took only one hour. Amazingly enough, I was not far from civilization at all. I still had cell phone reception at my campsite. North-west of my spot about a kilometer is my town. South-east about the same distance is a highway. East about two kilometers is an airport. So I wasn't very far away at all. I live about 15 kilometers away from the spot I was dropped off at. Having water available means you have less weight to carry with you. Weight may not mean too much to a big fellow, but I am a small guy at only 167 cm tall and I only weigh 70 kilos. Thanks for watching Blythe. I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
Thanks for all the details, brother) I take so much weight not because I like it lol but because it always happens like that. I can't seem to make by pack lighter and it is really hard for me to walk all the way to camp and back with 25 to 30kg on my back. Filming takes a lot of time and effort but it is worth it)) as I don't have a car, I don't usually go very far from Kiev... usually, it's about 10km by bus from the suburbs and about 7km walk into the forest. Good thing is that most of that 7km is easy as there are many paths... but then I leave the path and onto my spot... now that the cold is coming, I get more options to camp and the river and lakes around Kiev are not so populated with summer swimmers. Actually, next time I go, I'll be camping next to a lake)) it was a pleasure watching this video, as all your others, and tonight I'll watch part 2))
***** If I had to walk 7 km in and 7 km out, I would need a good set of hiking boots, not the light-weight running shoes I usually wear this time of year! I don't know what my pack weighed, but the 'civilian' backpack I used wasn't designed for the weight because the straps bruised my shoulder near my armpit... not enough padding. I'm looking forward to your next camping video!
I always use military gear for this reason... boots,pack... all military. They are tough for the wear and tear and also very comfortable. Rather cheap too... My next video is coming soon, my friend) thanks for your support, brother))
You would love fly fishing...Its much easier to catch fish once you get the knack of it..Lighter carrying a small fly rod and some flies than tackle... Are you in up state New York? Nice video...
Thanks Allen, I'm really glad you enjoyed this video that I posted five years ago. It is my second most popular video and still getting respectable views compared to my more recent videos. Since I haven't watched it in a long time, could you refresh my memory as to what you meant by your comment "did you try hammering?" Hammering what? Also, I noticed that you subbed my channel. Thanks so much for the support!
@@Al1en_Boy_3thKind Oh! Yes I have camped in a hammock, and you can see my first night in a hammock video here: ruclips.net/video/sNM_9BNTQuw/видео.html
Jim thank you so much for the video love the woods it looked Beautiful I'm sorry no one has told you But that bobber was way to close to hook 1' 1/2 ' foot and a half is the general rule hope that helps in future
I was born without a left hand, but I try not to let it slow me down much. This video was made in 2014. I've made hundreds more since then if you care to check out my channel :)
Hey Jim, just wondering, I know your up in Miramichi, are you ever worried about bears, or Coyotes? maybe even a moose? I don't see you carry a gun, don't you worry the smell will attract bears?
No, I don't carry a gun. I had bears in my yard at least twice this past summer. I've seen moose on hwy 126 between Miramichi and Rogersville, and I saw a coyote crossing the hwy when I went up to Bathurst last year. Your food "SHOULD" be kept in a bag hung about 20 feet in the air about 100 yards from your camp. I didn't see any bear sign around so I took my chances that night.
I getcha, yeah the bears kinda make me worry when I think about doing a Solo over nighter. yeah I know there are a lot of Moose on the 126, Ive been told anyway haha
Yeah... I'm not much of a fisherman as you can tell. The water was full of aquatic grasses, and I didn't want to be dragging all that up from the bottom. Maybe some bass plugs might have been more productive or some floating flies.
If that was a spinning type bait your using , you don’t need the bobber ,,, more fish for eating or for fun that way. I’d like to have saw Ye catch something
Yes, I would have liked to have caught something too. I was using a bobber to prevent the hook from getting caught up in the weeds. As it was it was still bringing up weeds on most casts. I like to fish, but unfortunately I'm not much of a "catcher" ... haha :) Thanks for watching!
Nice spot, not many folks that'l put in the effort. Try losing the bobber and going with a single small spinner with hook and worm (trout killer). Know some killer Doaktown area spots if interested.
Paul Watterson Lonnie and Connie are good people. We’ve been following each other on RUclips for five or six years now. Thanks for visiting my channel, Paul.
I'm no expert, but that lure looks way too close to the bobber, though I have never known anyone to use a bobber with a lure on it. I thought that was just for live bait.
+Lemon Squishy For privacy, I hiked to the uninhabited side. People camp on the other side (inhabited side) all the time. Teenagers often party on that side too. People go ice-fishing there in the winter, but I don't think you can put a canoe or other boat in there. The Department of Fisheries used to stock it with trout as recently as 2011. So no, I didn't ask permission to camp there, but I also didn't make any fires, or cut down any trees there either. Although it is called the "Reservoir," our town gets it's water from several wells.
I was born missing the part you saw missing. As you can see, I try not to let my handicap slow me down too much. Sure there are things I can't do, but I try to work around them. Here's a video you might enjoy... I'm pretending to be the Marshall of a town in America's Wild West and I shoot a sling-shot at the bad guys... ruclips.net/video/kzpOhEqt8NI/видео.html I had a lot of fun making that video :-)
+Terrance Charles I was using the bobber to keep my lure from dragging too deep in the weeds. I was using the spinner just to a more flash and interest in my lure. I didn’t catch anything, not even a nibble, so that shows you how much of a fisherman I am... not much. But I still like to fish. I caught a stripped bass earlier that summer, but not at that location. Thanks for watching and thanks for your comments!
+Muskrat Jim , hey! Great video. I must say, I have NEVER seen anyone fish or even attempt to fish with the way you had your lure rigged. It was just to close to your bobber. I understand you didn't want to get it caught up in the weeds, but next time try a few more inches of distance between the two. Good luck! ATB-Shorty
Much respect Jim, you inspire us who are on the couch to get out and enjoy the outdoors. Much respect my friend, please keep the videos coming.

Ken Martin Thanks for watching. I am further north-east. I am in Atlantic Canada. I'm glad you liked the video!
MEAL TIME MY FAVORITE.
Good video mate, subscribed, atb Hans
Thank you Hans! I appreciate your interest in my videos!
Jim, I like your videos alot, we share the same interest in fishing and being outdoors, so thanks for sharing my friend, atb Hans-Norway
I will check out your channel.
What kind of tent and sleeping gear did you use?
The tent is a two-man dome, and the sleeping bag was a summer-weight bag. Both were bought at Canadian Tire for under $60.
Hey Jim whats the song at the start of the video? I've heard it before.
High Impact Wrestling It is "Crimson Fly". You can find it in the RUclips Creator Studio.
Good one Jim
Alfonso Casillas Thanks!
I really enjoy this video 👍 did you ever try hammering?
Thanks Allen, I'm really glad you enjoyed this video that I posted five years ago. It is my second most popular video and still getting respectable views compared to my more recent videos.
Since I haven't watched it in a long time, could you refresh my memory as to what you meant by your comment "did you try hammering?" Hammering what?
Also, I noticed that you subbed my channel. Thanks so much for the support!
Muskrat Jim That means camping in hammak 👍
@@Al1en_Boy_3thKind Oh! Yes I have camped in a hammock, and you can see my first night in a hammock video here: ruclips.net/video/sNM_9BNTQuw/видео.html
Jim thank you so much for the video love the woods it looked Beautiful I'm sorry no one has told you But that bobber was way to close to hook 1' 1/2 ' foot and a half is the general rule hope that helps in future
Joseph martin I'm not much of a fisherman and it shows... LOL
Thank you for the helpful tip!
Joseph martin ii
these is my favorite intro song
+Stuart Campbell The name of the song is "Crimson Fly" in the RUclips audio library.
your left hand ?
Is This Canada or the US? which state or province ?
+squamishfish New Brunswick, Canada.
Is that city owned land?
Matt Maher No comment..... :)All I can say is that it's "within city limits".
We should go fishing someday
+Cole Elliott Yeah, maybe I could even catch one or two...lol
I'm sorry but i have to agree, great video but bobbers dont work with lures buddy. but great video anyways. when you use a lure cast n tetreav
I like to fish, but unfortunately I'm not much of a "catcher" ... haha :)
Thanks for watching!
Muskrat Jim brilliant , I’ve been watching your videos , thanks for sharing , some great hints and tips for camping . And I’m a new subscriber too now
Dan McAlinden - thank you for subscribing to my channel. I really appreciate your interest in my videos!
keep it up
I had a good time that weekend of two summers ago.
Nice spot, not many folks that'l put in the effort. Try losing the bobber and going with a single small spinner with hook and worm (trout killer). Know some killer Doaktown area spots if interested.
onthenashwaak Thanks for the tip, and you can private message me about the Doaktown spots (but I can't fish salmon with my gear).
Where do you live?
Paul Watterson New Brunswick, Canada 🇨🇦
@@MuskratJim Cool. Lonnie & Connie mentioned you in one of their videos so I thought I would tune in and see what you are up to.
Paul Watterson Lonnie and Connie are good people. We’ve been following each other on RUclips for five or six years now. Thanks for visiting my channel, Paul.
I bet tying to hook is a booger!
It poses a challenge for sure, as does putting a worm on a hook, but I can do it 🤠👍
You're holding the fishing pole upside down
+Chas Hornecker Probably explains why I didn't catch anything!
Ya just turn it the other way and it will be much easier
LOL
mistake one ; never go camping alone... although you aren't alone are you? cameraman.. is with you right..?
I am the camera man :)
just watched part 2
wallace vivian Thanks!
I'm no expert, but that lure looks way too close to the bobber, though I have never known anyone to use a bobber with a lure on it. I thought that was just for live bait.
Yeah, I'm no expert either. I was using worms with a spinner. The bobber was to keep the hook from going too deep and snagging in the weeds.
All by yourself? No invitation? Lol
Carlos Sepulveda All by myself? No, I had 900 of my RUclips friends there with me :-)
Did you get permission since this is a reservoir utilized and set aside for human drinking water reserve.
Lot's of people don't ask permission and then in the middle of the night...ooops, there's a uniform.
What happend to ur arm?
I was born missing my left hand.
what happened to your hand
I was born missing the part you saw missing. As you can see, I try not to let my handicap slow me down too much. Sure there are things I can't do, but I try to work around them. Here's a video you might enjoy... I'm pretending to be the Marshall of a town in America's Wild West and I shoot a sling-shot at the bad guys... ruclips.net/video/kzpOhEqt8NI/видео.html
I had a lot of fun making that video :-)
Some days the fish just will not cooperate, ... Clark
im so sorry about youre arm sir
Thank you, but I've been like this all my life, so i'm quite used to it.

why you using a spinner with a bobber
+Terrance Charles I was using the bobber to keep my lure from dragging too deep in the weeds. I was using the spinner just to a more flash and interest in my lure. I didn’t catch anything, not even a nibble, so that shows you how much of a fisherman I am... not much. But I still like to fish. I caught a stripped bass earlier that summer, but not at that location. Thanks for watching and thanks for your comments!
Ahhhhh...didnt see the weeds....experimenting...nice...nice vid...keep on trying...
Good luck! ATB-Shorty
Wild Thing ikr and I don't think ur gunna catch trout this time of year eather
Google Maps rules!
Good wishes from Russia!
the worst fishing set up I have ever seen...Good thing you brought some grub
Yup... good thing.
