from when the facility was built there was two double three side opening surge parlors with weight jars two people milking in each parlor and the herdsman would bring the cows in there where four group of cows around 1982 there where two double five herringbones with automatic take offs put in with only one man per parlor george milked cows from 1971 to 1983 for george and mark
Thank you for commenting. We have been trying to find someone that know’s the barn when it was first built, but could never find anyone that knew all the history of when the barn was built in the 70’s. It’s awesome to hear about all the changes that parlor has gone though in the last 50 years.
Finally, a milking herd in VT on YOU TUBE! Love it!! Too bad it’s taken me so long to find you folks. I’m milking in VT as well. Where are you folks located? I help out in the North East Kingdom of VT. Happy Milking 🐄😉🐄
Thanks very much for video. How to you find the afi system, is it accurate on all health issues and composition of milk details? Thanking you very much.
We really like the system for the most part. The mastitis detection works great and so does the ketosis. The heat detection works great we only go off that for our AI breading now. I will be doing a whole video on the afi system in the future to better explain it so stick around to see that.
How long does it take you to milk and do you have any jerseys and are your Holsteins registered and what town in vt im a dairy farmer from CT i milk 200 jerseys in a 50 stall delaval rotary
We milk around 600 head. A shift takes around 7 hours with one person mostly. We are mostly Holstein but do have a couple jerseys. Also no, we don’t have our cows registered. We live in Berkshire Vt. That parlor must be crazy fast.
It takes me an hour and a half to milk morning and night i milk at 3 am and 3 pm ship milk to agri mark do you guys have to house your farm help i house mine i have 2 employees both Hispanic been here 12 years great families do you milk 3 x
That’s is really awesome you can milk all your cows that quick. Yes, we house any employees that need housing. We have some employees that have been with us for over 10 years also. All our employees are all local people we don’t have any Hispanics.
Do you have to milk or do you just do field work and do you breed your own cows ai or have a technician come in I do my own plus I have 3bulls I rotate around they start getting ugly there on the beef truck
The family does milk when needed but normally I am in the fields and working outside or fixing machines or in the barn fixing. My little brother is our main heard man. We do all our own breading and we do the same exact thing with bulls as well.
Good deal. My 6 yr old likes your videos. “They’re farm is like ours he’s says, tractors are dirty, Broke down, lots of mud” 😂.
Love to hear it. The videos are as real as it it. Stuffs broken and full of mud and manure. 🤣. Thanks for watching!

The way that I was taught pre dip wipe then strip is the correct way to milk
We don’t want anything touching the teet after being whipped. That way we know they are clean for milking. But every farm does stuff different

@@802Farmers thanks very much!
why don't the milkers need to be washed after each set of milkings?
For the most part the machines always stay clean. If there is anything on them they do get cleaned though
Is the holding area divided all the way down ?
Almost. There is a 12 foot gate at the end we use when we need to divide the two sides completely.
Do u guys feed grain in the parlor
No we don’t in ours. It would not work good for our system.
