You may be surprised, but among Turkish officials, local activists began collecting signatures for leaving NATO. I am not saying that the Turks will leave NATO today or tomorrow, but you must agree that if this happens under pressure from ordinary residents, i.e. local patriots, then there is a serious demand in society on this topic.
Israel is not a member of NATO, so it isn't NATO related, but Israel does buy a lot of stuff from NATO countries, Spain included. The Merkava Tank has parts from dozens of countries, almost all of them in NATO. A German Engine and Gun, Belgian machine guns, American tracks and ammunition, control systems from various countries. Everyone is involved in supplying Israel, so harassing a single ship from a single nation really makes no sense, it's simply pandering to some political group that is probably paying them bribes in the name of Russia or China. It should definitely be investigated, but I don't believe it's a NATO issue. It's a NATO security issue, but not directly related to the organization itself.
Can the worlds merchant marine fleet boycott the Spanish port? Money would get the Spanish government's attention because I assume they are not unloading and reloading containers for free.

All the complaints made about our world wide bases while supporting the world markets security and enforcement is like anything else with investments and returns. Nobody asked the Customs department in Spain for a copy of the cargo manifest because for sure there will one for all the cargo to be landed at Algeciras including transshipment cargo destined to other ports?
Bingo, that's my question too. Ship in Spanish waters seeking entry to a Spanish port is subject to inspection by the Spanish Coast Guard, as completely as Spain wants, and woe if that cargo manifest is not both complete and accurate!
@@davidgoodnow269 speaking as a container ship master of 20 years command experience, who made many many calls in Spanish ports over the years I never had the cargo manifest onboard because for a container ship the hard copy is so vast that it wouldn’t fill a wheelbarrow it would fill the bed of a pickup truck or a small van. Cargo manifests today are electronic for container ships. The only items of cargo ships’ crew get any information on are Dangerous Goods, Temperature/Atmosphere controlled and out of gauge (ie uncontainerised) items or very high value goods eg bank notes - new or old ones for destroying( but that one is very rare and usually only the Master would have it). Prior to arrival in any port the company representative / agent would ensure that a manifest was sent to the authorities prior to arrival for pre-clearance.
This could also have been done as a result of the israelis targeting UNIFIL troops in Lebanon rather than the genocide and ethnic cleansing of gaza. If the cargo includes munitions and other military supplies that might be used against UN mandated peacekeepers then nations who have troops deployed to the occupied territories have a vested interest in not allowing the resupply.
You wish. First of all, there is no such thing as "ethnic cleansing" in Gaza. Israel is doing what any other country would do if attacked. However, allow me to burst your delusion bubble. I have a question based on my experience in the U.S. aviation industry. I became interested in shipping several years ago after tracking two shipments of aircraft parts from my company’s facilities to a port on New Zealand. I discovered that there are websites where every commercial ship in the world can be tracked along with information about that ship. There are some parallels in aviation but there is an option for an organization to request their aircraft tracking to be restricted information. I’m assuming these protests are partly possible because these groups can track the ships mentioned in the video. So I’m wondering if there is an option for restricting tracking information. My knowledge of shipping is still pretty basic so this may be a dumb question, thanks anyways if anyone answers.
Adam, don't be coy. What is the name of your favorite saw? I like all saws except when they cut me. But agreed, Happy Birthday Marines. Rod (not a warrior, a Marine or even an American)
I learn more about political tensions from this channel. Shipping issues like this one reflect larger political issues. Just the facts, not taking sides.
The US would never allow any ship to enter a US port that it thought was violating one of its sanctions. Unless, of course, it had already boarded and seized the ship. What is the problem if another country follows the same policy?
2:45 Nice synopsis, to put things in perspective in WWII there were 3 civilian deaths per combatant death. In the last 14 months in Gaza its 14 civilian deaths per combatant. We have smart weapons and technology now and these numbers are rounded down since we cant count the dead under the Rubble. More Ordinance has fell on Gaza than what was used in the entire 6 month Battle of Stalingrad of million man armies hacking at each other. Puts it into perspective. Friendly reminder Israel used all this force on a group of 40,000 Militants that build weapons out of things you find at a Home Depot. So you can see why no one wants to deal with shipments going to Israel. Great Channel, Subscribed 11:00 Lusitania was loaded a civilian port with arms and ammunition. Old Tricks, New Dogs the US Government said it was Neutral for three years and not sending arm and ammunition to Europe, dive on the Wreck showed that to be a lie.

Since we’re talking about interesting things being carried by ships. Golf was first played in America in my hometown Charleston, South Carolina. We know this because the oldest mention of golf in American history is a ship manifest showing the cargo to a gentleman in Charleston of golf clubs and golf balls. Last time I looked it was the Government of Spain that determined what kind of goods were permitted to enter its country, not the Government of the United States. Any Nation is 100% in its own rights to deny entry into any of its ports (which are in territorial waters), any ship carrying cargo they deem to be against their rules. You cannot accept the US has that right (which it does, and has used in the past), but deny another nation the right to do the same. Whether you agree with those rules, is irrelevant. Not your nation, not your waters.
It is possible that Spanish officials could end up in court if they allowed weapons related shipments. This could also apply to other countries. Would not be surprised if in ten years time some people end up in prison. I doubt that the US state deportment will be sending people to take their place behind bars.

Wouldn't uninvited boarders on a ship be pirates?
Happy birthday Marines! Much respect and eternal thanks to all our Veterans! 👍
First time viewer, you seem very knowledgeable. However... if the ship had no weapons or ammo, it could have docked in Spain. This implies the ship rerouted to another port because it had weapons and ammo. If there were no weapons or ammo, why would it need to reroute due to the new rule in the Spanish port?

Spain is a member of NATO. There are deeper implications when a NATO nation refuses to allow entry to a ship of another member nation.
This has nothing to do with Nato.
That is an excellent point.

Dear @wgowshipping, thank you for your videos. I have been in cargo ports several times, and I remember them to be heavily guarded. There is absolutely no way anyone can enter without a proper paparwork. In the video 4:37 I see civilians approach the cargo ship. Can you explain how is it even remotely possible?
1:44 - But this picture is all over the internet? How can you claim copyright infringement when the picture in question is in the *PUBLIC DOMAIN* and still in the public domain?

The Cunard line and British government claimed there were no military supplies and shells on the Lusitania and held to that story for about 50 years. If Mearsk was shipping weapons why do you believe they would tell you in particular? Are you crazy?

What do we want to outsource and what can we offer besides weapons and military support. Nobody asked the Customs department in Spain for a copy of the cargo manifest because for sure there will one for all the cargo to be landed at Algeciras including transshipment cargo destined to other ports?
They don't care. The "activists" just want to cause headaches for anyone shipping anything to Israel.
@timoliver8940 thanks for the clarification.
Happy birthday kathy. Happy Veterans Day my brothers and sisters
This is because the current Spanish government is nothing but a filthy coalition of socialists. Until now....after the fiasco of this pseudo government handling the floodings in Valencia, people are very cross with them. This wanker of pedro sanchez is the worst that could have happened to Spain in terms of government. It is very clear they are not going to be elected again. Most likely VOX will be elected.
UNIFIL is in active defence of Hezbollah, this is an unjustifiable defence of terrorism and I can guarantee that all of you defending them also are not going to be laughing soon.
"Peacekeepers" willfully and intentionally set up their bases in the line of fire. They also allow, willingly and knowingly allow, terrorist murdering kidnappers to shield themselves behind their bases, and allow them to operate missile manufacturing operations while launching said explosives into civilian neighborhoods.
"Peace keeping" in a combat zone is what is it. Philosophically and morally reprehensible support of mass murder, kidnapping, and other atrocities purveyed by a hateful group of islamists, who themselves categorically reject the right to life of all mankind the world over. Then want to cite "human rights" in their own defense. No, you LOSE YOUR RIGHT TO LIFE when You willfully take another.

Israelis aren't targeting UNIFIL, UNIFIL were told to move their useless asses out of the way. They are incompetent Hezbollah enablers.

The US would never allow any ship to enter a US port that it thought was violating one of its sanctions. Unless, of course, it had already boarded and seized the ship. What is the problem if another country follows the same policy?
Thank you Sal for always providing valuable, accurate information.
Would be interesting to know if the ship was carrying contraband on the day its progress was blocked through the canal.
They don’t actually say what the shipment to Israel contains, which is pretty suss
Why would they?
Great Channel, Subscribed

Thanks for the good information. I'm sure the U.S. State Dept. is talking to Spain. It would be interesting to sit in on one of those meetings.
There is no such meeting, however I believe there is another meeting.
