as much as I want to denied it.. sadly this is true but the downfall won't be that bad since normal content creators are still going strong although some of them did kinda died... I'm glad people didn't support the idea of metaverse since it's literally what vr chat and vtubers have but a complete knockoff heck insulting even
Probably because the metaverse is related to Facebook so it’s kinda sussy :P
Im on 5 semester of computer science rn and studying metaverse.
so by definition, Metaverse is a 3D virtual world and that's literally it (Many ppl have other definition but mostly have at least this word)
By this definition , VR Chat even roblox is counted as metaverse.
so ya, metaverse is nothing new and whole NFT thing is just a feature of a metaverse world.
I really like how Shu adressed this. Glad hes enjoying this current career of his and everybody should view if that way when they enjoy their work. Talking about how all good things someday end, but not on the depressing note, they evolve into something else.
Its a very educated answer while not complicating things, speaking simple truth.
like a wise mudan said:
"every channel will ded eventually"
so cherish it while its still alive
I think shu is on the right track in terms of wording it. Like if we were to categorize it as the beginning, the peak, and the fall, I guess you can say we are still in the peak, eventually the fall will come but you will still have the core niche that will support, just as the same with video game trends or movie trends.
Personally I feel like we entered a slow fall long ago. The market is over saturated. Vtubers have lost their novelty, at least in my eyes.
@@Despotic_Waffle I would agree the market is over saturated but I wouldn't say we are in the fall just yet, considering that just this year we had things like vtubers interviewing actors for an upcoming movie we havent gotten to the "tired of seeing it" part of the fall yet.
it makes me super sad thinking about jt. i will definitely cry at any en member graduation 😭😭😭
@@Despotic_Waffle The market has definitely been oversaturated in the female department, but this year marked a new age of male english vtubers
We aren’t in the fall yet, with all the support coming in for Luxiem and other new male EN talents on the market there’s still plenty of thriving and new faces
If anything, I'd say vtuber tech is getting more sophisticated with all of the fancy new models some vtubers have started using
I personally don't think vtubers will disappear since its just another medium of delivery for normal stream and variety show style content.
I feel like 2D vtubers might get old one day, but pngtubers (since some youtubers have been using little personas for a long long time) and 3D vtubers might surpass them
The initial VTuber boom will probably die down at some point, right now we are pretty much in the "golden age of Vtubing", but that will end eventually. I doubt VTubers will disappear once its over, but you will notice that i won't be as much in the media as it is now, since every few years there will be something new that rises to the top.
@ponpon Well, tbh those "Vtuber" who are just in for the fame and having meltdown i do not take in the count. Its obvious to the naked eye that these individuals Did it with not a smidgen of heart and soul, and deserve every mishap that follows afterwards. It is hard to feel sympathetic for those, nigh impossible if you ask me.
imo golden age of vtubing was 2020 - november 2021
this is not the golden age of vtuber, the golden age is jan 2020- december 2021
ever since then more people have been dedicated to only one vtuber or rarely translate clips from their favourite vtuber because there is so much more talents rising and there's not enough time to clip everything, this and also before the copyright strike that happened on hololive livers, almost every single stream has a clip (for example ayame) but has now all been deleted due to the copyright strike incident, subaru also has deleted alot of her archives by her manager panicking, this is why i think this is not the golden age of vtubing because there is more restrictions and competition than before so it's not talked as a very tight knit community like it used to(although they still have dedicated translate channels that still is going even after the golden age of vtuber)
As much as I don't want to think about it, graduation is inevitable. We've had several graduations this year already. There will be more in the future. I've seen vtubers graduate after a year of streaming. Depending on their situation, some don't last that long. All we can do is go along with it and support our faves before they graduate and move on.
Just ride the wave boys
Man I got this recommended after nina’s one 😭😭
I do not think It will be like that. Vtubers at the end are normal streamers with the only difference being that they use a model. As long as people gets entertained by streamers people will keep watching vtuber and not vtubers.
try to think of it as a trend falling out of fashion, or a game falling out of favour. it does not necessarily mean vtubers are going to disappear, or that there will be less of them, just that the audience for vtubers may dwindle; which is a thing in internet culture.
there will still be an audience (as there is for all things) but it may not be as big as it is now. its an inevitable thing that is bound to happen.
@@moon-ww6qt I know and understand the point but I think it just won't happen, the people that watch a streamer do not usually get bored of him/her easily and can be watching that person for years.
When the vtuber trend gets less popular the appearance of new vtubers rythm will decrease but I do not think the ones that already stream will lose fans, because if you watch a streamer is not because he is a vtuber but because you enjoy the way of being of the human behind( unless people are completely faking a character which does not usually happen) adn the content they provide.
@@juampisito it’ll turn into an old niche eventually. Like all trends it will eventually fade away from the limelight. Good old 2012 let’s plays, prank yt, old RUclips skits… they had their peaks too. It won’t truly be a death as long as streaming exists, but Shu is right. There will be a fall eventually no matter how much you deny it.
i think a fall is inevitable. there's so so many more vtubers now than three years ago because its gotten more popular (same with regular streamers, cause pandemic) and probably majority of those vtubers will quit sooner rather than later. its not that vtubers will become an obscure thing but the popularity and numbers will decrease then level out as the less dedicated fanbase leaves. also it IS a different culture from regular streamers, the fact that they use models is far from the only difference. at least for me, as a casual viewer like many people are, i group most vtubers in the same niche "genre" regardless of how different their content is. especially if they're a company vtuber. ironmouse is the only vtuber i can think of that feels like a "normal"/mainstream streamer.
Don’t scare me like that! I thought he was actually graduating! Almost gave me a heart attack.
My opinion personally, I wouldn't say it would fall, I would say it would stabilize. If you look at the content creator sphere in general most of the things that die down aren't the genres/niches, but the creators. I do agree tho that eventually there's going to be a new thing like what he mentioned with the Vtuber 2 thing
shu speak about prophecy
Ty RUclips for recommending this. This was very comforting as of recent times 😔
theres some leaks but i hope they’re not true
@@okanelover we shouldn’t call them ‘leaks’ bc no one in the actual company said them but yea
@@swathithebagel they are leaks cause they were leaked (or speculations i guess)
Shu really gives incredible advice man, he words things really well
Ty for this clip!!
i'm still processing a world without nina (my first ever oshi) and today mysta (the first vtuber that introduced me to EN and my first oshi) announced he's following after mom and i'm still reeling and the algorithm puts this on my home page ㅠㅠ universe is wild sometimes...i do find comfort in 4:02 tho as shu talks abt things "evolving". i get why fox mom wanted to leave and why her stinky fox ( -doberman- ) son wants to leave too and i support them 100% at the end of the day. even if they're not in EN or streaming anymore i support them evolving to a new chapter in life where they're both happy and free of all the antis and fandom toxicity. :') i hope the "after" of the vtuber sphere will still be just as fun and chaotic as the current era we're in
I have somehow the same thoughts as Shu. I think vtubers will be a constant in anime/streaming culture but the audience may dwindle until those who will stay are people truly interested in this niche.
The title scared the hell out of me i thought he announced that he was graduating and my heart sank
As for Vtubers rising and falling. Let's compare it to acting. Acting has been around for thousands and thousands of years. And I mean theatre troupes, professional actors, they existed in Ancient Greece all the way up to present day.
Vtubing is really a form of acting, it is technically computerized form of puppetry. Basically Muppets gone digital.
The main thing to realize is that VTubing is going to change in North America. North American animated media is dominated by 2 companies, Warner Brothers and Disney. And remember Tony the tiger is a thing, seriously Kellogs has set up a Twitch channel for Tony the Tiger
i haven't heard much more than his debut stream and him not saving the VOD but because he is a corporate mascot it will more than likely go down in flames.
However, putting a Vtuber in front of children such as on RUclips kids and streaming without any monitization at all would be very very successful. For little kids Mickey Mouse, for the 12 and under girls you have all the Disney Princesses, all of which are there expressly to drive merchandise sales
If either Warner Bros or Disney decides to set up a VTubing agency and there is no reason to think that they won't in the future expect Vtubing to change completely the world over.
The vtuber collapse might be inevitable, however it will revert back to when it had a much tighter and stronger fanbase niche in the ironmouse days. Many companies will change in popularity and everyone in them will be destined to graduate eventually. Just like normie streamers turned into vtubers, we might have something different in the future we just gotta wait for.
i thought shu was graduating fır a sec when i saw this lololol
Cambrian explosion, lets see how It goes…
He’s so smort
not the translation translating "smort" to spoiled, I wonder which language it is 😭
using "Golden age." and "Renaissance" to describe Vtuber era
Looks like someone just watched a random pekora fans video
is this an r/woosh too advance for my understanding
@@goingeast it's fine, it's just a refrence
i thought he was gonna graduate 😭
Kiryu came into my mind after i read the title.
I think technological changes will come over time and the kinds of models they use will change, probably to be more dynamic and better at capturing movement and expressions. Some are already a bit more ahead when it comes to that sort of thing than others, though to a degree that can be a stylistic preference.
True. I love seeing the changes in models over time and how the movement differs. A good example is Ironmouse 'cuz she has a ton of different models and they are all a bit different.
@@ClippedKirb Yeah! Hers are really well animated, too. They capture a lot of movement.
mans talking about vtuber economics
relatable
eventually nijisanji will release furry vtubers ihop
