Just a heads up for anybody wanting to go. Get a passport, obviously. The most expensive part is getting over and back. Once you get there, transportation is cheap. The trains will get you anywhere you need to go. All you have to do is get a PASMO card. You can charge money to the card and use it for transportation. You can even use it at vending machines and in places like 7/11, sometimes. Hotels are fairly cheap over there as well. Most of the ones I would stay in were less than a $100 a night. Now granite, expect to pay more if you are trying to be close to where comic con will be held. Do not rule out love hotels. Those are a thing over there and sometimes cheaper, expect to pay by the hour, but sometimes they work a deal with you. Food is inexpensive, no problems there. I was stationed over there for 3 years so I thought I'd try and help anyway I could with info. Also, I encourage everyone to walk around and enjoy the country. Japan has a lot to offer, and it's a very beautiful country.

You can buy IC cards such as Suicia or PASMO. In Japan, these IC cards are universally accepted throughout the country. There is no need to rent a car or use a taxi in Japan. The people there are very friendly, and many restaurants will provide Chinese and English menus. You can order in simple English. If the restaurant you go to is an ordinary restaurant, the price is very reasonable. It’s not too expensive, and there are a lot of fun places in Tokyo. I highly recommend spending a few days there!

A work colleague of mine has just been to Japan. She said the public transport system is excellent and easy to understand. She also said that the Japanese like to speak English with tourists as it gives them an opportunity to practise there skills. There a youtuber I watch who is excellent. He gives loads of information about Japan/Tokyo/food/culture. I'll post you a link to his channel.

And food in Makuhari is quite tasty and cheep. Also the price of drink is quite reasonable. They have vending machine for plastic bottle drink all over and cost should be around a dollar.
