Sobi….. I have a mega live…..Had it for 2 years…. I know your a vexilar guy I was too, but I promise you, when you get that megalive dialed, your gunna wanna use it all the time…. I adjust the settings every time I punch a new hole, fish a different depth, switch from forward to down, different lakes…. When you get the settings down and understand how to dial it in, it WILL be your go to… also you have your little chirp sonar on, you can hear it. Hit the power button and let off quick, and where it sais sonar, turn it to off.
I just got mega live a week ago and I agree it’s an amazing tool. Fished for panfish in 4-6 feet and it was amazing to see how they would avoid wherever a hole was drilled even after slowing down. Amazing tool to understand fish behavior.
Being a Minnesota Native from the Brainerd Lakes Area and now living in Idaho, this has to be my favorite channel to watch and remind me how much I miss hard water fishing. Also, it is great to see new content every video rather than "solo ice camping in ice shack" 😜 Sam, you should make a trip westward and come catch some big White Sturgeon out of Hells Canyon or some Steelhead or Salmon with me.
Thank you so much for saying that Eric! And DUDE please shoot me a DM on Instagram, I would love to make a trip out your way and experience that country/ fishing. Happy Days!
Mega Live was added to my quiver just a few weeks ago. I've been enjoying it in the down mode in 23 feet on Lake Sakakawea and seeing fish miss my jigging stick only to then shoot over to my dead stick and be able to match their energy with a quick lunge and lift of the dead bait. I credit Mega Live to my last 6 walleye/pike catches 100% because I could see how they were acting. I wouldn't have been able to see it on my flasher like that. It has been far beyond my expectations after watching a year of other people using it on RUclips, too. The videos never did it justice if you ask me. Even the great ones from Clayton and Jay and all the RUclips masters. I'm excited to see this video and how you presented it. Very cool slabs, Sobi!
Hey Sam, I would recommend tilting the transducer to a 45 degree angle instead of a 90 in forward mode you will get a better reading and you won’t read the top of the ice
I respect your integrity. Letting those slobs go for the future. Unfortunately I dont think the majority of the guys using this technology are putting back 14 inch crappies. I hope I'm wrong. People dont realise how quick a Fishery can be wiped out. Great vid bud.
Love the video man… I just took the leap and bought livescope plus… for sure a learning curve going from 2d sonar but well worth it if you are serious about fishing… may be even more of a game changer in open water, but oh so fun. Keep grinding buddy!!
I have the Vexilar fl12 mainly because that’s what’s in my price range,,however it does awesome , never needed anything else, love your channel homie always a pleasure,,
In my group, there are 7 of us. Each of us own the Garmin Livescope. Let's just say we do pretty damn good targeting large panfish. We also keep our limit or so of 14+ crappies because we also love to cook and eat fish as a big group. If you have a problem with that, tough luck buddy!
I almost went with mega but got livescope for one deciding factor. I can have split screen with livescope and a flasher on one screen. Livescope is 30lb don’t need to bring out a second flasher
To your "Clunky" comment vs the Vex. Try running the Mega Live in the Down configuration. The mount that connects to the pole swivels. In Down imageing mode the Mega Live creams the Vex for interpeting fish attitude to the bait presentation. You can see the fish turn on the bait, miss etc. I would also suggest trying out the Blue Red Yellow view and in your side view mode, clicking down more at a steeper angle, you get less reflection from the ice.
the Mega live and Garmin LVS32 work similarly it's hard to tell the difference between fish and seaweed even at shallow water. Garmin LVS34 is a game changing, the pixel is much clearest and better at both deep and shallow water.
nice sobi i got the same as you at the same time lol and waiting on your video. i really enjoy using mega live on the ice and my flx 30 also.... funny how two people think alike
I would recommend the Katana 30in Noodle for feel. BUT i have really fell in love with spring bobber rods the past couple years. (Katana Light Action 28in Spring Bobber Rod) Trust your eyes when you see the light bite on the spring bobber then SLAM. 👊 hope this helps Roger
When the time eventually comes for you to update software on that “Ice Helix,” know that there’s a difference in the software download between regular Helix 9 G4N and the Ice Series. Stumped me for longer than I’m proud of.
Uhhhhh....WHaaaT?!? LoL. Ok then.... But please explain to the rest of us....why exactly has live eliminated a fisherman's need for all of the bennies the flasher brings to the table??
@@colbylivingston4319 Yeah, obviously 🙄🙄🙄🙄 Lol. Please. I definitely have...all three brands, but I run a Garmin....and I still use my flasher, and I'll still use my camera. And before I continue...I'd love to buy your flasher if you no longer have a use for it. Seriously. Ok. Back on subject. Sobi literally explains in this very video his reason for still using it. And he's not alone...as a majority of ice fisherman, still use flashers at the hole, in combination with their FFS centrally located in their spread. Start randomly watching various popular creator's current ice videos.... but yeah, they're probably all just sponsored, or simply just old-fashioned dedicated creatures of habit. I mean, YOU don't have to use yours anymore....but stop acting like the tech is suddenly so worthless, that everyone who still uses it is stupid.
@@itsaboutTime2revolt Never once said anyone is stupid for any reason. All my buddies still use 2d and flasher . They still crush them. I’m simply stating there is nothing a flasher can do for me that my FFS can’t . Why pack more shit on the ice ?
@OnceProudAmerican flasher...only upside is that it's light...other than that no use for it. That is what down view is for...and you get 3-4x the cone size! People that still use a flasher aren't stupid...they just aren't using their 3k electronics properly..
SOB - I, I would wake up missing My UNIT …… if I purchased this and my Bride 👰♂️ found out what I laid-out for that MEGA-LIVE ! I’ll stay intact with my Old Hummingbird THANK YOU !!!!! 😊 ✨🎣💫
Excellent video as always! So informational for people looking to get into the live sonar world. One question I do have is what kind of gloves do you use? I see you got some fingerless ones.
My fingerless glove game has always been kinda homemade. Vexilar sells these cheap clothe gloves with rubber grips. I buy a bunch of those and then cut the fingers off. And then I also go to hardware stores and buy a bunch of their cheap gloves and cut em up.
Oh dude I strap it all down with a lot of bungee cords and I wrap the transducer head in a foam pad with cloth wrapped around that. No King Kong here 😂

Exactly what I said. Be prepared for the non FFS users to come at you lol.

It's crazy how the blind ice fishing that I grew up with has basically evolved into shopping for fish.

Fish like that biting, ya stay til they stop. Nice man. We have zero ice in SE Michigan. I'm heading north

You are correct. I only target 14"+ crappies and I keep them because it's legal. Get off my nutz!

That Fish Finder is something!! Those crappies were some megas! Awesome video Sobi 🔥🔥

Happy Days Noah! And yes the shanty will be slimed with Walters soon!

The lake he showed “Kelly Lake” but been there it’s definitely not that lake 😂
What reel do you use and also what lb line do you run?

How many snub nosed crappies did you guys get on that lake?
Quite a few, I was really surprised too
Really neat machine but hard to justify the expense just for recreational seasonal fishing nice promo video though for sure
Live+360=money
livescope really is cool but its kinda crazy how you can just find and wipe out almost an entire school of fish.
Which inline reel gives you the least trouble @Sobi

No way I'm lugging my big livescope out there and not using it to fish with. To see the fish react to different presentations/lures in valuable.
All small gills. Most likley.
Vikings play this weekend?
I like turtles 🐢
