Flagstaff is a beautiful city with unique and fascinating shops. Love the atmosphere walking around the downtown and university streets.
Want to buy my house? I can not wait to leave Flagstaff.
Kat hie
Why? Just curious.
@@kathie9823 Why you wanna leave?
Flagstaff isn’t a city it’s a town
Kat hie where is your house located? If you are serious, I am looking for a place, preferably rent-to-own in either the Flagstaff or Pinetop-Lakeside area. We live up here in the PNW but I need to move closer to my aging mother who lives in AZ also.
Thanks for the tour. I really enjoy your vlog. You do a great job.
I went to all Indian Powwow in Flagstaff about 50 years ago. I drove my brand new 1969 Red Mach I from KC Mo.
Tom Antrim I live in a house one of the founders of the Pow Wow owned. He kept it alive during the depression.
coulter gibb but did I ask

But do u still have the car
Home town👍 I loved growing up in this town!!
Hi Mike, Flagstaff is my hometown too. Couldnt have grown up in a better town. Did u go to good ol FHS? I went to NAU also. I miss Flagstaff....good memories!
Same here me an my gma used to walk all around west flag used to live on Mars Hill in the pink apartments miss the Hong Kong café
Love both flagstaff and Prescott
Love Flagstaff, graduated from NAU !
I enjoyed seeing Flagstaff thru this video. I lived there in '76 - '78, so long ago that I didn't recognize anything!
Famous sayings.... Yay, cool, too cool for school, look how flat it is! Need to get some merch going with those on! Thanks for showing Flagstaff. 🌵🏜️✔️
Nice to see downtown Flagstaff, never seen that before.
But the shotgun cam was more of a distraction than a plus, Russ.
Agreed. Shotgun Cam did not provide anything useful...
Moved back to queen creek after a couple years living in Flag. Pretty to visit but hated living there. Fun watching this recognizing every road you’re on.
same ...
Love Flagstaff. Have been fortunate to have visited this lovely town 5 times coming on vacation from Sweden to beautiful Arizona.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I lived in Flagstaff in the 70s, and attended college there. It had a small-town atmosphere back then. Kinda sad to see what it’s like today. I’ve often wanted to go back. But after seeing several videos of Flagstaff as it is now? I’m having second thoughts. Sometimes memories should be left alone...
Wow Flagstaff is So beautiful with the pines & desert combo 🌵 🌞 🌲
Love your style very relaxing. Thank you for taking the time to film
I did a Sedona and Flagstaff weekend July 11-14. Went up there to escape Scottsdale and 116. Love it so much.
So many more people ❗️ We stayed in the KOA nice would stay there again . THANK YOU your sharing brings back wonderful memories. Mickey Flagler Beach 🏖 Fl.
I love Flagstaff, been five times since 1992. Boy how it's changed, in the earlier days it was much quieter with a captivating atmosphere , 7000 feet in altitude and far less busy, not so much construction either. I used to love Babbitts camping supplies and the old curiosity shops and the Mexican food too. Oldtimer Englishman from Shropshire remembering happy travels throughout the South West.
Oh I miss AZ, Flag used to have a wonderful bakery down by the huge walmart... Loved seeing downtown, memories! Thank you for sharing! It's changed a huge amount since I was therein 2000/1.
That carter is incredible. There is an open area on 89 where you can see all he peaks around you.
I will be there tommorow... love the cooler weather.
Thanks so much for posting this video - we are heading there a month from now! We're going up to Page after that - so look forward to the rest of your trip!
Thanks Russ love seeing this area.
Your filming is very good. We are looking at the flagstaff rv parks. Yours has been the best depiction. Thanks!
We really enjoy seeing the campgrounds you stay at. Gives us an idea of places that are “Russ-Approved” for our rv trips out west! Liked the Flagstaff KOA drive around. Please include more of these of future stops! Thanks and safe travels!
MAN! I was just now panning through videos on RUclips and came across this Gem! Lordy I haven't seen this turf since July 1969!! KOA Flagstaff AZ.!!!
We were on our way to LA and this was a major rest stop!! You are parked almost where we were parked! Base of Humphreys Peak!! MAN!! Great Memory and good times!!! We would in a few days be at KOA Victorville, CA. to witness Man's First Landing on the Moon!! I so much would like to Thank You for this Video!
You made a 67 year old guy feel 16 again! KUDOS AMIGO!! You got yourself a Subscribers and Follower!! Thank You!👍🤙❤🖖
Flagstaff is a beautiful area. The KOA is a big place.
We stayed at a Coconino Ntl Forest developed campground in 2016 near Sunset Crater. It was the cleanest place we've stayed during that trip.
I lived there in the mid 90's complete transformation. Nice😎😎😎
Thanks Russ , enjoyed the city drive ...
My gf and I stayed at that koa couple years ago.. we did one night in the teepee and next day we set up my SUV tent set up ... Was not too busy when we went .. did get thunderstorms that night ... Showers were nice .. was a good trip I'd stay there again
Hi Russ.. Welcome to Flagstaff .. Nice to be on the road with you.. Suggestion.. Dash cam is in the way of Shotgun Cam.. Maybe put dash cam on the dash ? .. Get some rest.. Hey you should share with your viewers what you have for eats in your campground.. What's for dinner? Talk soon..
Hi Russ! Just dropped off my son at NAU to start college! If you haven't been to Snow Bowl, it's a must do during the summer! Chair lift to the top for incredible views! Thanks for the tour of downtown! BTW...love your laugh!
Visited my sister in Phoenix love driving through Flagstaff with all the pine trees . Stopped at the snow bowl and rode the ski lift a sweet ride up the mountain and a great view . The highest toilet around lol at the top . Thanks for the ride Russ nice seeing places we were before 🇺🇸
It was 1964 when we drove through Flagstaff. It was March and 2 or 3 foot snow drifts on the side of the road. We were coming down from Casper, Wyoming so it was nice to pass on through and to get down to Phoenix later that day.
We were there a couple of days ago and enjoyed it. A few pan-handlers but you do get that in nearly every city where tourists visit. Loved that little square and shopped for raw honey at a tea oriented shop and hubby had a gelato in one candy shop. We also visited Walnut Canyon (Thanks Russ!). The mall has Dillards and Penneys and we did some needed shopping there. Visited Williams a few minutes on the way home West. Did see a Little Blue Heron in a freshwater marshy lake on the side of I-40 just outside West of Williams. Amazing.
Stayed at the 'haunted' Hotel Monte Vista during Christmas week last year. It snowed every day and was beautiful and amazing.
OMGosh it looks freaky walking by ... any ghosts??
@@ScarlettO323 No. However, several times during my stay my room door would creak open when no one else was around. It couldn't have been a ghost because ghosts can walk through walls and don't need doors.
What fun. Hurry, I want to see if it still looks like it used to.
Thanks to a breakdown years ago with my Hummer, I had to deal with what was then Tyrell Marxen Chevy in Flagstaff. Got me in and out in a hurry. Barely able to finish breakfast before they had it ready to go. You should note how train noise seems to be almost everywhere in the town! Often a first overnight stop on the way back from California.
nice. Look forward to Utah. Safe travels.
Enjoy your trip. Great videos. Panda monium just drove up 89 to i70 and on up to flaming gorge.
Stayed in Flagstaff several times just passing through. Never seen old town before. Georgous sky.💜
This is only my second time watching your videos on RUclips, but I really like 👍 your speaking voice, chill attitude and interest in history and architecture. I think I may subscribe. :-) Cheers from central Oklahoma!
Oh I love when the journey begins!!!! We have been all waiting for this day, whoo hoo!!!
This made me so homesick! Thanks for showing my hometown! Even if it's gotten packed like crazy since I left!
Thanks
Quiet nice town Flagstaff! Definitely worth to visit it and spend some time there.
Howdy Russ! Safe travels sir👍
That hotel downtown with the second floor wrap around porch is a great place for happy hour food and drinks. Also the old highway to Sedona is a beautiful drive.
Nicely done ✅ looks great projected from my iPhone to my big screen TV. Happy trails Russ !!
Glad too see someome enjoy my home town on youtube
dashboard view is cool and relaxing.
I lived here from K-3rd Grade. The Elementary School is now a Middle School now, Mt Elden. I remember walking through the playground to my Street. Moved to Sunset Crater Estates.
You go to Park City UT. Shotgun cam turn to the right like you are looking out the side window. The last time I was in Flagstaff was on vacation when I was about 5 and we were driving through and they had still had snow on the ground but it was summer and our car overheated so we had to put snow on the engine. That’s the only thing I remember about Flagstaff. Can’t wait till you get into Ut. You should check out Horseshoe Bend by Page.
I appreciate the weather update here. I am heading to Flagstaff this July. Hopefully you just hit a heat wave. I was hoping for cool up in the mountains. Really enjoy your videos. Thanks.❤
Thanx Russ!🗽🗽🗽👍👍👍⏰is on your side.
Have a good trip Russ. Talk soon! Cheers!!!
Thank - you for such a wonderful video. I have only passed through Flagstaff on I-40 then shot down to Phoenix , on my way to Cali, many years ago. Never saw what you showed. I loved it. Will continue bit wath your vudeos.
And the journey begins! 🎼 “On the road again!” 🎼 Travel safe Russ!
Always wonderful to see flagstaff!!😁 thanks Russ - u got the best Koa spot !
Have fun and take care and take it easy
Trees & headed for cool weather. K O A should be a nice lay over for the night Russ. Chevron is proud of their gas up there, I always look at their diesel if it's posted when you pass cause I'm a cardholder. Looks like you got a nice spot for the night. TAKE CARE..
The Christmas lights display is at Little America. There is some downtown but the larger display is at Little America. Ive lived here 20 years now lol
have lived here since 2016 (NAU Alum now) it's beautiful. campus is beautiful, downtown is my favorite spot because all of the little shops and local stores. I also worked downtown (at the Aloha Hawaiian BBQ place). Flagstaff is a great place to visit AND live!
Thanks for sharing. I like that area.
Thanks for the video! We live in Phoenix and camp just outside of Flagstaff every other weekend. We love it so much we bought an acre in Kachina Village a year ago and will build a cabin there as soon as we can afford it. Flagstaff is an amazing place to be.
We love Flagstaff. It’s a great city. Love the campground too.
What fun to see Flagstaff! My husband worked for NAU back in the '80s, Our children were born in Flag. When we were first married we lived in a single wide traitor in what was then Kit Carson Traitor Park. Our little home in the pines. It was fun to see the old train depot and Babbit Brothers Department store down town. Brought back good memories. Glad I stumbled across your video. On to your Sunset Crater vid. My husband and I got caught on the crater one night. Had to hike most of the way down in the dark! And I do mean DARK!
i've never been to Flagstaff, always wanted to go! Guess i have now :)
Super cool Rus!. You passed right by where I live, just before the train overpass. i can meet with you for lunch sometime while you are here perhaps. Been a subscriber to your channel for a while.
@Cameron Mason Miller lucky!!!
@Cameron Mason Miller What is Flagstaff like in terms of employment, wages and cost of living?
After graduation from NAU, I lived just north and west of the large civic center. I made a left turn just past (north) of the train overpass. I lived on Sitgreaves street. I need to go back and spend a little time in the area. In my 6 years in Flagstaff I explored the northern portion of Arizona extensively. Hiked most of the south rim trails and a couple of north rim trails at Grand Canyon National Park. Hiked some in the southern Utah slickrock country as well. Explored the eastern Rim Country on the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest. NAU was a fantastic place to go to college! The big hole in my Arizona experience is I-19 to the New Mexico border and south of I-10. I haven't taken one trip in that large area. I have a lot of family in the greater Phoenix area. However, I live by the 11th Commandment of Coconino County, "thou shall not travel south of Camp Verde between April 15th and October 30th."
@@wannabetowasabe April 15-October 30 because of the heat? And what are the other coconino commandments?
@@AlexCab_49 Yes, the heat. It is even worse for me now as I haven't lived below 6500 for 47 years and have been at 8,000 for 31 of that. Camp Verde in the summer is far too hot for me now.
I think the 11th Coconino Commandment was the only one to rise to that level. At the time I lived there, by big city standards, there wasn't any shopping in Flagstaff. None of the big chains were in town at the time. I didn't care as I don't consider shopping to be an essential activity. That is what catalog shopping (especially Sears) was for as well as being a minimal consumer. Now catalogs are online, but the basic principle is nearly 150 years old in rural and small town areas.
I suppose there was common knowledge to not hike in the Grand Canyon in the summer, the time to go was in the other 8-9 months. There are the 3 rules of living in snow: never steal a person's firewood, parking space and don't dump snow on someone else's property. This is universal wherever a significant pack of snow exists all winter. However, a yearly average of 100 inches of snow in Flagstaff really isn't a lot. I left Flagstaff 42 years ago, so maybe someone has more current info than I.
As always Russ "great job" thanks for the ride along bud!
We're staying here soon! Thanks for the tour!
my friend was here with his family last weekend, its great to see it (im in scotland, uk)
My home town! Raining here today in Flagstaff
I absolutely love Flagstaff... I live in Prescott now but would like to move back to Flagstaff.. I lived up there, went to high school up there.. I miss it.. 🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷
I often wonder why some towns and and small cities thrive while others fade away. Obviously Flagstaff is thriving. You made my day I saw an R Pod in the campground!
You drove right past my neighborhood! Great vid
I lived in Flagstaff for 21 years until 18 months ago. I qorked at the beautiful County Courthouse downtown for 18 yrs.
Love it! Thanks for the tour!
Flagstaff resident here! Snow's not too bad lately, been having pretty dismal snowfall the past couple years. I suppose last year might've been a bit rough, what with breaking a single day record, but it hardly snowed after we got that 3 feet in one day. Ice is the big problem here more than snow. Snow will stick on the ground long enough to melt and freeze a hundred times over and then the ice never leaves! I'd recommend coming in the spring at the end of the snow season or in the fall when the only snow we got is on the mountain. Cool to see this in my recommended! Now I'm just looking for myself on the road...
Hi Russ
Shotgun cam is great! Yep, too cool! Love it!
I like the historic district of Flagstaff, but the rest has grown too much though.
Yes the clouds are really pretty, sky is blue, nice!
Wow long stays at KOA could get pricey. Yikes. I'll stick to dry camping in deserts or forests lol
Ok i enjoyed todays trip and conversation. 😉 thank you.
Be safe. See you again soon.
That was OUTSTANDING
loved every minute of it.. I'm investing in my 1st drone ..ty for the inspiring drone views you've done in other videos. 💓😃

Superbe vidéo très belle ville ! Merci.
Great format - thanks.
We stayed at the very same KOA three weeks ago today! I miss it so much! 😢Such a stunningly beautiful place! Already planning a return trip in March 2021 🤗 we don’t have those mountains and pines in San Antonio, Texas. Great video!
Thanks for the tour!
Been to Sun Set Crater nice place.
I ❤ downtown Flagstaff!! I go there at Least 2x's a year!!!
love the shows Russ. If you are heading up 89 not far north of Panguich on the left is the Butch Cassidy family home. We had a look in 2018 fall. Didnt know it was there in 2 previous drives over the years up there but this time we read a sign further up the road at a bank saying it was the only bank he didnt rob. His money was in there. hehe. We were heading south on this particular trip.
THANKS
🙋♀️KOA was interesting. Seem to offer shade in all the camp sites. Teepees were neat. I wasn't expecting very many people there. That was nice they had a food vendor available. Flagstaff was a busy small town. I like to look for the Churches. Some of the architecture is interesting to the Era it was designed, making it unique to the area. Stay cool Russ!

We really like the KOA campground in Flagstaff. The Circle Pines KOA in Williams is nice too. Pine trees just add that something extra
What you were seeing was an eastbound intermodal on the BNSF Southern Transcon, and the Seligman Subdivision. The transcon runs from Chicago to Los Angeles, and covers the states of Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California. The Seligman Subdivision runs from Winslow Arizona to Needles California. Both the transcon and the Seligman Subdivision runs through Flagstaff. Just west of Flagstaff near exit 190 on I-40 is the Arizona Divide. At its summit it is 7,335 feet above sea level, and represents one of the hardest climbs other than Cajon Pass in Southern California that both west and eastbound trains have to traverse.
The Southwest Chief runs the transcon with the exception from Shawnee Kansas to Emporia, then from Emporia Kansas to Belen Junction south of Albuquerque. Then the Chief will join the transcon on the Gallup Subdivision all the way to Los Angeles. The Southwest Chief runs daily service from Chicago to Los Angeles, and serves the states of Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, and California.
Glad to see ya back on the road making new vlogs! Love your drone flights as well, what a cool different perspective of the local area. We know the shotgun mount and cam cost a pretty penny, but we personally like the regular forward view best. The video quality is awesome! We have been watching a lot of your older videos and just love your style of shooting videos. Keep up the great work Russ, enjoy your travels and stay safe!
First time watcher. That looked great. We are on the east coast. I have never been to Arizona before. They don't show the Christmas scene out here either. Maybe next year we can make it out there. I hope you are having a awesome time.
We left there in '98. I didn't recognize anything before you got into old town.
Enjoy the cool weather.
Downtown extends about 4 blocks south of R- 66 as well.
Thanks Rus

Democrats!
@@chuckstith838 So how well are the Republican governors doing in Texas, Florida, Alabama etc. The virus is not a political issue. We all have to do our part to stop spreading it. We are at war with this virus and it is not picking sides!
@@oldmillrd8153 I hope you do know that the testing is the cause of those results you're talking about just because Florida and Texas doing more testing than anybody else and just because they have more cases what about the dead people man nobody's dying
robsycko , that’s illogical. If the virus wasn’t spreading the tests would come back negative. People *are* dying. 138,000 *deaths* so far in the United States and the rate of infection is skyrocketing. Go ahead, don’t believe what the scientists/medical professionals are telling you. COVID-19 doesn’t care. Just stay the hell away from the rest of us.
@@robsycko Ya right nobody is dying. That's why the icu's are almost at capacity in the states I mentioned. The morgues are so full in some places they're using refrigeration containers to hold the dead. Hospitalizations have increased and the majority of cases in Arizona (67%) are under the age of 44! 1 out of every 100 Americans have the virus and that's only of those that have been tested. Stop your selfish whining and put a mask on so we can get past this and get people back to work. And by the way, where the h..l do you get your news?
