Anyone who criticizes this doesn't understand music. I have no doubt that the composer would approve of this extraordinary performance. It is true to the work, and also allows for the performer's interpretation. This is all anyone can ask.
And you know this because (a) you spoke with the composer and (b) you have extensive experience and knowledge of performance practice for Chopin's music.
Holy cow--Angela was HOT!!!! She's _still_ hot, and a wonderful musician. It's tiresome to hear people say this is too fast or that is too slow. I'm learning the Bach andante BWV 971 and I LOVE the way she plays it. Seems just right to me. Gorgeous tone too.
I love her playing, I call her tempo, pace. Meaning she seems to play at various tempos at the right time, but the overall impression constitutes the right general pace. Great player.
This is a bit slow, but some of you are commenting as if this Angela Hewitt is the same Angela Hewitt of today. She has gained thirty years of insight in the mean time. Check out her current Chopin recordings on the Hyperion label. They are amazing.
wow she might be the best interpreter of Chopin. sometimes I hear someone play Chopin and the music doen't make sense. This version makes me wnat to have a coffee and table talk with friends like Chopin himself was entertaning us,

This is exactly what happens to Chopin when you play very well Bach a lot....She' is just FANTASTIC!
Beautifully meditative. Nice track suit too.
It is wonderful today that we have a complete set of Chopin Nocturnes from her on disk. It is to be treasured. Much thanks Angela

Amazing
I think she is amazing!!!! I love this example of her playing!!!! Exquisite!!!
Belíssima interpretação desta pianista. Chopin apesar de partir aos 39 anos, nos deixou um legado imensamente agradável.
superb!
angela! super!!!!
Love it
This week, Angela Hewitt is playing in her hometown, Ottawa (Canada). This is exciting for Angela and her many fans.
Thanx for uploading this.
Kinda slow don't you think? Her Chopin has really matured a lot.
can't face the fact that musicians are not models, they must do whatever face they want. please tv fans, stop fake interest in classical music.

Could be even slower. So beautiful. If you think is too slow it is because your mind should slow down.
Which competition was this?
Looks like it’s the Chopin competition
Then, as now: not a shred of warmth.
That's no way to talk about your mom.
I do not like Chopin, because far too often played just technically, but played like this... Hello mr. Chopin!
too much rubato in my opinion
@Huffinearts Please do not make such idiotic remarks; just face it: she is one of the worst disasters in the world of classical music.
