In this video I show you how to convert a naturally aspirated diesel engine to a turbo charged diesel engine. To simulate a turbocharger in Ricardo WAVE is straight forward and you can use the maps made available by Ricardo WAVE. In post processing I show how a turbocharged engine has improved efficiency, fuel consumption and output torque.

Hey , Thank you for making this video , it really helped me .
Hi Manisha! I am really glad to hear that. Let me know if you have any other questions that I might be able to help with 🙌🏻
Thanks for the nice presentation. You forgot to specify the value for the crpm for the turbo shaft.
Thank you for this! Very clear and concise walkthrough
Thanks! I am glad you found it useful! I would love to hear what you are doing with Ricardo WAVE?
Can you upload a video on how to draw a turbocharger performance map to use in Wave by looking at a drawing of a Garrett Turbocharger Manual
I will put it on my list. Thanks for the suggestion 👍🏻
Thank you for your nice video series. How can we draw CO2 graph at Ricardo Wave?
Will you try making a video related to designing a plenum in wave
Hey thank you for making these videos! Its been really helpful for me recently. Are you able to create a video for an inline 4 SI engine with a complete turbocharger model? Including BOV and intercooler? Also do you know any websites which have a variety of cmaps available?
Hi Bhavin. I am really happy to hear that. I will add your suggestion to my list of videos. Unfortunately there aren’t any websites that I know of with cmaps. The best I ever saw was the Garret website that has very basic maps which you then need to manually convert into a WAVE file. I have tried it once and it is an absolute pain. I will let you know if I find a better source.
Hey, for your turbo shaft variable crpm. How did you format that variable to allow the turbo RPMS to increase as the engine RPMS increase
Hi Spencer. Thanks for the comment. I hardcoded the values into my variables table. I got the values from the Ricardo help files.
Nice video, but I think you missed a very important part where you should have explained the crpm variable...
Thanks for the comment. Will definitely explain it when I next cover turbochargers.
Hey, can you add a supercharger in Ricardo wave??
Yes you can
thanks for the video! is it possible to get this software for free?
Thanks for the comment. Unfortunately you have to pay for a license for this software.
