Crazy how this was shot 7years ago, and it's extremely useful to me right now. Thanks for the template, you're a hero. The explanation is soo succinct, and I'm not even a tailor or something like that. Thank you very much for this.
I doubt you’re going to see this but I just wanted to say thank you. I’ve been following your work and your tutorials since the days of the Batman cape. Recently I was able to take these skills to work with a local hospital and visit kids as some of their favorite superheroes. This is fantastic and I didn’t think I would be able to do this but you’ve made it possible. Thank you
Dont stop the weights but the suits are ment to give a tight skin fit suit but in reality wearing a tight skin suit wont show a rip chizzled look itl just stretch over everything giving you a flat look.
Thank you! I'm going to have to alter the mold slightly as I'm doing a female version of a character, but other than probably omitting the pecs and the abs, I'm very excited to have this! And to anyone who's wondering, Scott does say that you can use thicker foam for bigger characters (like 1-3 inches).
I think I've watched this video close to 100 times. I really like how lean this looks. Not too bulky. I am trying to create the best looking Classic Iron Man costume possible and may use this method for the yellow/gold arms and legs. Hoping this will work with a metallic/chrome fabric. Thank you Scott, I've been a fan for a few years now.
Just found this video through another cosplayer. Wow, this is a great and simple way to make a muscle suit without breaking the bank! To all the people complaining about sewing, it really isn't that difficult. I've only been sewing for 3 years and I began by buying a machine and practicing when I had spare time. Anyway, thanks for the tutorial and the template! I'll be using this for a few cosplays I have planned out for next year. God bless!
Thank you for making this video! I'm a somewhat new cosplayer (Been cosplaying for 2 years now), and I've just been scratching my head over how to achieve a more masculine cosplay since I am a smaller female with a very feminine shape. I'm definitely going to give this method a try!
your expertise is truly impressive. I'm using your video on the standard spandex suits and your boot video to make my brothers comic con costume this year.
I cannot begin to explain to you how thankful I am to have this video. I will be modifying this when I do it. See, I like my arms and legs, it's my abs, shoulders and chest that need the help. :P Thank you! Thank you thank you thank you!

Man, I wish there was a RUclips when I was growing up, what an awesome resource to have- AND you guys have some of the best superhero-how to videos I've come across. Your tutorials are top notch- fun, well crafted, and thorough... great job guys!
When do you cut apart the individual muscles, that were together in the pattern? For example the fore arm pattern. Do you cut the pattern apart, the foam or after the foam was traced onto the bodysuit?
Looks great. Little bit of feedback on your production, find some way to reduce background noise like the washer dryer and the ac. Makes it difficult to hear sometime
As a RUclipsr, you are going to get lots of good comments and some bad ones. You keep going as you are doing a fantastic job. I subscribed to your channel as I enjoyed several videos that I'm interested on.....Body suit! You rock man! Black Panther costume, here I come : ).

I just subscribed to you only because of this video. It is very easy because of the template!!! I will make other adjustments raking your method into consideration.
If you want bigger muscles, do you just add thicker layer of foam or is there a some other way to do it? I think the edges of foam can be seen pretty easily if it's more than one layer..
So, obviously I can't print out your muscle template on paper and just trace it onto the foam...so do you by chance mind explaining how you were able to trace the exact proportions and measurements of muscles onto the foam? Because they are much bigger than printer paper size. Please explain, I really want to do this! Thanks :)
I use a program called Posterazor. Something like that. Basically allows you to print them to whatever scale you need. Might take a bit of tweaking, and overlapping after cutting, but should work.
Thanks a bunch for this tutorial! I managed to make a suit to be able to (as a woman...) play the very manly Gaston from Beauty and the Beast. I turned it into a body though (with buttoned crotch) to be able to use the bathroom without having to completely undress. I also noticed that I am apparently too small for the muscles on the template. Shoulder muscles + upper arm muscles did not fit; they came past my elbow. So I had to tweak them a bit. For what length person are these? They seem to fit you fine.
Thank you for the tutorial !!! I really love your Chanel because the tutorials are very easy to reproduce at home. I currently make my own batman suit, your cape tutorial helped me to find the good tissue and I will get inspiration from this tutorial for the muscle suit ! THANKS Can you explain in a next video how to make your Captain America helmet and Wolverine mask ?
if you use a simplicity captain America pattern, you can trace out the shirt pattern and trace it again onto poster board you will have a simple shirt pattern for any super hero.
Okay, now that I have the concept, I see that it can be done with a complete muscle suit... so sir, I have a question. Why are people always talking about gluing the muscles down, then glueing another suit down over it. This seems much more practical and in my eyes allows you to contain the muscle while maintaining its position and shape. I have to do this now. Why is this not standard? This is higher quality. Add some air brushed shading and it is a very high quality product.
In essence you simply have more lines to stitch over to make more pockets. End result though? A muscle suit you can keep hygienic. Bravo kind sir. Bravo. Thank you for the much needed education.
So what I'm thinking is taking a compression shirt, and gluing the padding to the compression shirt carefully, then wearing it underneath my Lyrica batman sub dye suit. Same with compression pants. Would the muscle be able to be seen? It's still the same concept of two spandex layers but I figured I'd ask your opinion. Will the denser foam give stronger bigger muscles as well? Great video it'll really give the edge to my batsuit.
have you ever considered gluing the foam to the white fabric first. then sewing the flesh tone fabric over the white. it might save some time and you'd get same results.
The only problem with gluing it is that the muscles won't be removable. Which also means, the bodysuit won't be machine washable. The glue won't breath either, so it would get hotter.
Great worl!! However thats too much work for me. I'll keep my workout routine but the video is really helpful for "correcting" or adding more definition to muscles under a costume.
you are a talented man I have have a question for when I watch Superman the movie with Christopher Reeve and I look at his boots the boots look like the are made out of a nonslip tear resistant leather do you know where I can buy this material
