are the sugar alcohols in protein bars healthier than having protien bars with regular sugar?

It is difficult to make a generalization like that because it depends on what else is in the protein bars, what type and source of sugar they contain, which sugar alcohols they contain and so on. It also depends on your individual needs, as to which one is more healthy. For example, someone who is diabetic would do better with the sugar alcohol protein bar. Someone who has IBS may not tolerate sugar alcohols as well and might do better with regular sugar. As a general rule, sugar should be avoided as much as possible. If you tolerate sugar alcohols well and they help you avoid sugar, then they might be a good choice for you. Just keep in mind that sugar alcohols are not totally innocent, and are not always better than having sugar. Sugar alcohol can still have an affect on blood sugar and weight gain (although less than sugar), and they aren't great for everyone. Use them sparingly and try not to go overboard.

Im on probation, I can not do drugs or drink any alcohol. I have been taking a 'focus shot' that contains sugar alcohol aka erythritol on the label. Will I fail the drug test ?
    Thank you doctor

That is a great question! Sugar alcohols do not actually contain any alcohol, so they will not intoxicate you or cause you to fail a test for drugs or alcohol. The erythritol in the supplement you take is merely a sweetener, but you should double-check that the other ingredients are also permissible
