I kind of wonder about how much of the people of the world have free will and how much are their actions decided by the plot of the Otome game. Since Rae has gone off script and hasn't chosen any of the guys, what would cause Manaria to keep playing wingwoman?

If Claire is unambiguously Straight and in love with Thane, Rae can "comfort" herself with the fact that she never had a chance, that claire's feelings could never grow beyond "close friend" But if Claire IS into women, then Rae would have had a chance and just isn't good enough/the right person.

I actually really did like this part, especially upon later on learning the truth. I will admit, though that the first time I saw this, I actually was getting kind of upset because it felt like the new girl was kind of rubbing it into Rae’s face.
