Lounge is the unofficial ranking system for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe! When you wish to compete, you will play against other players of similar match-making rating (MMR). Depending on your MMR, you will place in one of the numerous ranks in Lounge:
Iron 1: 0-999 MMR
Iron 2: 1000-1999 MMR (Placement: 1500)
Bronze 1: 2000-2999 MMR (Placement: 2500)
Bronze 2: 3000-3999 MMR (Placement: 3500)
Silver 1: 4000-4999 MMR (Placement: 4500)
Silver 2: 5000-5999 MMR
Gold 1: 6000-6999 MMR
Gold 2: 7000-7999 MMR
Platinum 1: 8000-8999 MMR
Platinum 2: 9000-9999 MMR
Sapphire 1: 10000-10999 MMR
Sapphire 2: 11000-11999 MMR
Ruby 1: 12000-12999 MMR
Ruby 2: 13000-13999 MMR
Diamond 1: 14000-14999 MMR
Diamond 2: 15000-15999 MMR
Master: 16000-16999 MMR
Grandmaster: 17000+ MMR
Depending on your rank, you will only be eligible to compete in some of the following tiers:
Tier G: Iron 1 + Iron 2 + Placement
Tier FG: Iron 2 + Bronze 1
Tier F: Bronze 1 + Bronze 2
Tier EF: Bronze 2 + Silver 1
Tier E: Silver 1 + Silver 2
Tier DE: Silver 2 + Gold 1
Tier D: Gold 1 + Gold 2
Tier CD: Gold 2 + Platinum 1
Tier C: Platinum 1 + Platinum 2
Tier BC: Platinum 2 + Sapphire 1
Tier B: Sapphire 1 + Sapphire 2
Tier AB: Sapphire 2 + Ruby 1
Tier A: Ruby 1+
Tier S: Ruby 2+
Tier X: Diamond 1+
If you're just getting started, you will be placed in either Iron or Bronze. You'll typically see the seasoned veterans in Sapphire or above.

So I'm curious, what happens if you replace roller tires with wood tires? You get a full point of AGS and a .75 increase in speed in exchange for 1 acceleration and .75 mini turbo. The .75 reduction in mini turbo is def a bit rough, but I feel like being able to just win on courses like Wiibow could be really nice.
Just a thought though.
well yeah, that would be better specifically on Wiibow, but it's still worse in general
I see where you're coming from but MT is simply better than Speed and Acc is less useful ins general than AGS yes but only if you have an AG track, which are way less likely with the new tracks not having that many AG tracks. You're just in a slight disadvantage most of the time and in a slight advantage sometimes
@@maxirhyme Fair enough. I forgot most of the city courses just don't have AGS segments, and so on a good number of courses you're just trading .75 MT and 1 accel for .75 speed, which is not a great trade.
I am slightly curious as to what the percentages are for AGS portions on common lounge tracks. Some courses like Dolphin Shoals only have roughly 25% of the course on AG, while tracks like Big Blue and Wiibow are almost entirely AG.
@@webbowser8834 I'd love more utility for the other stats besides MT and Speed, more variety in tires, I don't like rollers appearance wise but yea, that'd mess up the balancing. AGS is a super intruiging stat to spec into, I often go for Inkstriker+leaf tire combis because the MT+Speed is still borderline ok but driving is awesome in my fav courses which do have AG like Wiibow
@@maxirhyme Interesting. Inkstriker Leaf is a pretty nice midpoint between Teddy Buggy Wood and Teddy Buggy Roller. They even have the same AGS (wood obviously has better ground speed though).
