This is really a great video. Brings back a lot of memories for me. I brought my parents and my wife's parents to Hawaii for 2 weeks. I went to Cindy's Lei shop every morning at 7AM and bought 6 leis one for each of them and myself. That was a special time for all of us. Thank you for this video!
Jim that is awesome you did that and I bet you made Cindy's Lei shop really happy! That is such a good idea, thanks for sharing that and thanks for watching! Glad to bring back some good memories for you! Aloha =)
Great video !!!! Love the area !!! Hope they fix it up soon. Would love to see a store like Don Quijote in there with a food court and limited traffic on quieter streets for foot traffic. Wish they would clean the river, too.

Great video that's on my list to go to Chinatown seen videos to eat at char hung sit the best manapuas and that park with seating outside their restaurant also sells good baked manapuas and church hung is steamed have you tried anyone of these in Chinatown Mahalo Luke
Veronica Castaneda hi sorry I missed this. We haven’t tried many places in Chinatown and the ones we have tired seem the same as most Chinese food places so they dont really stand out but all seem pretty good. There’s a lot of good Chinese restaurants outside of Chinatown too so you dont need to go to Chinatown for there food if you dont want to. Up to you though. Let me know if you folks recommend any places when you try it. Have a good day! Aloha 😁🤙🏽
wonglee2424 oh cool! Oh glad you enjoyed this area! Yes our Chinatown has a lot of character! Thanks for enjoying this walk! Have a great day! Aloha =)

Chinatowns look the same in every major city. :) More so the original Chinatown of that city (Toronto has 7)...down town one looking old like this one. This one perhaps slightly cleaner than the downtown Chinatown in Toronto. I like you "walk videos"...saw one of your latest ones at Ala Moana. :) Shot about 5 days ago..Even in Hawai'i some Chinese carry umbrellas to shield themselves from the beautiful sun. What gets me...or makes me wonder is why Chinese came and still immigrate to Hawaii...most aren't into water sports. Don't go to the beach. Dpm t surf. Just stay in the Chinese communities. Or there is a high percentage that do. Always loved Hawi'i partly because there are so many Asians. The one state where Asians are the majority. :) And the one state where there's least racism (I feel)...esp towards Asians.
Hi Anderson, thanks for watching! Good questions. I think may people immigrated back around 1900 because they were looking for opportunities to get rich but, once they got to the plantations they came to work they realized it was very hard labors work and long hours and they made it through it saved money, started families. I just helped my son do a report so it's still fresh in my mind but, if you want to know more about immigration to Hawaii check these videos out that we took at a tour at Hawaii's Plantation Village. This first video is of the small museum when articles and stuff if you want to read it just stop the video to read whatever articles you want to ruclips.net/video/nyt3BA95E-0/видео.html. This 2nd video is a guided tour and we follow at our guide through the village as she tells us about Hawaii's history or immigration ruclips.net/video/tJbd1_6YN_E/видео.html. Hope that helps! Aloha =)
j t I think certain people still go to Chinatown for the Chinese medicines, herbs, and food. The fruit and vegetables are usually at a cheaper price and some interesting meats can be bought in Chinatown that I wouldn't eat. Yeah I'm sure the other generations have moved on to other things. There's so many options now days =). Thanks for watching! Have a great day! Aloha =)
Henry Alanya yeah it does seem that way doesn't it lol! I think mainly cause of all those that immigrated here to work the plantation. Then there family came over from their motherlands too. These were the people willing to do the hard labor at that time and the Hawaiian's were not immune to the sickness brought over so their numbers lessened back then. Don't worry there are still a lot of Hawaiian's here they are just not in Chinatown and many are mixed with the Asians, Hispanics and others. Thanks for watching! Have a great day! Aloha =)
