      @@DrBDIY Well, I decided not to go ahead to buy this standup freezer based on a number of discouraging comments about it. Thank you for your input. We all work hard for our money so putting it into a not so great product like this stand up freezer would be a waste. I also googled how different freezers were rated. This one was not the most reliable. Gosh! What a hassle for you! So sorry😔🇨🇦

      @@DrBDIY Personally I think all Frigidaire freezers are lemons. I'm on my 2nd and LAST. First one made it close to a year. 2nd one 2 1/2 years. NOT ACCEPTABLE, Talk about waste of energy and carbon footprint. The goverments should enforce long term warranties Parts & Labour. Old ones lasted 20 years easy, now the landfills are full of disposable appliances. shame

      Pure junk I bought one and it was delivered July 11th 2024 and it quit working August 30th I think maybe before that. I technician came out today and said that the freon had leaked out because they crimp the copper lines. He said that it is a known issue with them for years and good luck getting it fixed. Because of the parts being back ordered. 🤬

    I just bought one of these.. keeping it inside of the house. I have a question for you.. when I go to open the door the whole unit slides forward. I have the anti tip legs fully against the ground but still slides. I am assuming once we fill the freezer, the weight will then keep it from sliding. Just curious if you noticed the sliding at first or if yours never slid? Mine is on hard woods too. so maybe that is different from yours as well and causes it to slide. Thanks for making this video as well.. it was very helpful!

    • @DrBDIY
      @DrBDIY  2 года назад

      You can put some rubber under the leg to give it some grip. I suspect, like you said, the unit will not move once it has some weight. Note: my unit is having problems - it runs constantly - and I would think too loud for inside the house. Keep an eye on it.

      Hi, not exactly sure. Could be bearings in fan. Could be fan hitting some paper. But I thought the fan was near the bottom. Check for rattle. If still under warranty, call them.

      Cosco had a chest fridge/freezer which specifically called out garage ready in freezer mode. We too (wife and I) prefer upright.

      @DrBDIY  2 года назад

      The Frigidaire is garage ready, but some models appear to run all of the time. I know of other Frigidaire and GE upright freezers that are garage ready but don't run constantly. We had a garage ready chest, never again, food gets lost and we had to dig all of the time.

    I bought this freezer in February 2022. It immediately began to frost up. I've had more repairmen look at and try to diagnose/fix this freezer than I care to count. Frigidaire finally refunded my money (December 2022) and told ME to dispose of the unit. Which included an extra door that was shipped "bowed." Since this is in my basement along with an extra fridge/freezer I decided to buy a new larger fridge/freezer and do away with the two separate units. Made the purchase on Good Friday and because it was from a scratch/dent store it's nonrefundable, and is now sitting in my garage waiting to be installed. Saturday I was so frustrated trying to baby the freezer along in an attempt to salvage some of my frozen food I put in a new door seal I had on hand and clipped each corner to get the unit to stop beeping! Guess what? NO FROST! NO ICE! Everything is frozen solid. Not saying this will last but seriously? Now I get a good seal on the freezer? And if I could - finally! AND a big "if" - figure it out, why couldn't any of the repairmen?

    Hi there - thanks so much for the detailed review and sorry that you got a lemon. Did Home Depot give you a refund?
    Also, do you live in the future? Today's January 15, 2023 but you already met with the contractor on January 20? ;-) I'm just messing with you, must be a typo.
    Are you going to get the same one or a different model?

    • @DrBDIY
      @DrBDIY  2 года назад

      Good one, I fixed the date. Frigidaire is interpreting their manual text "runs frequently" as "runs all the time" . I would not get another of this model / brand. Not sure their support is so great either. One person says it shouldn't run; the other says it should run all the time.

    Those white clips on your shelves are only there to secure them for the shipping and delivery. That’s why the one you ordered by itself didn’t have one.

    All these freezers should have thermometers built in,, high temp alarm with high temp remember so you know what the temp got upto and if your food was thawed and re frozen. These companies are crap and they don't do that because thier products are junk.. I'm looking at the GE garage ready, but so many complaints on that too. Ugh.

    • @DrBDIY

      You have a good point on including a historical thermometer. Maybe I received a lemon, I am unsure but I did return it thanks to the retailer. I did get a GE garage ready freezer that isn't a lemon. It is working great so far. Quiet. ruclips.net/video/txaxYsiA7k0/видео.html

      @@DrBDIY I read somewhere that this model is supposed to run almost all the time, Something having to do with a variable speed fan.

    • @DrBDIY
      @DrBDIY  Год назад

      It definitely does run most of the time. The theory is that circulating air will reduce the amount of time needed by the compressor. Mine was pulling amps that looked like the compressor was running all of the time. I found the fan and compressor noise irritating. When I compared the yellow sticker (cost per year) of this unit running all of the time, and another Frigidaire not running all of the time, the cost was basically the same. Same when comparing to the GE garage freezer.

      @@DrBDIY Is it possible that you transported it on its side and that compressor oil inadvertently ran into a tube, thus clogging it? Asking because Frigidaire says it should only be carried on the side the compressor is on if it can't be transported upright. Wondering because I am thinking about buying this very model.

    • @DrBDIY
      @DrBDIY  10 месяцев назад

      I had it delivered and installed. I am unsure what the delivery people did before the unit arrived. I didn't appreciate one person at Frigidaire saying it should not run constantly, and another saying it is supposed to run constantly.
