- Chris Cain (from San Jose, California) is one of the best, if not the best, blues guitarists and singers we have ever heard. This clip is the opening song for his appearance for the Kentucky Blues Society www.kyblues.com at WhaBah Steakhouse on Monday, August 31, 2009.

I can't believe it's been 10 years since I first saw Chris tear up the stage at the free Blues concerts our little city of Seaside, Ca. puts on each year. One fantastic musician and maybe the humblest guy you'll ever meet. One time the fog rolled in and it was so cold CC said he couldn't really feel his fingers. Did he miss a single lick? Naw, he's a goddamn genius that's why. Btw going to see him in about an hour in the concert series mentioned above. That little park will be ROCKING.
thanks for givin us the opportunity to see your band in HD as in Europe we would like to see u in real live. I'm a guit player in France and I admire so much chris for his playin and singing you guys are really talented this is the real thing and the real deepest Blues I ever heard.
I went to college with Chris back in the late 70's and early 80's and he blew everyone's minds back then.
I met Chris between shows at Don Quixote's in Santa Cruz,Ca.in march of 2012.The one thing that impressed me about him even more than his performance(which was considerable) was how friendly and respectful he was to me.I I left feeling like an old friend. He was badly exhausted, and then came back out and knocked every one off their feet. One of the best singer/guitarists I've ever seen.
peter.Have seen Chris a bunch of times. At Moes and at the metro blues fest and S.C.Blues fest.Monterey blues fest Saw him in Rasputin's records in San Jose shopping, had to say Hi.A very real blues man, great talent, very nice guy.
Fabulous axe man
Seen him live a bunch of times, never gets old.
wonderful player Cain, really deserves more recognition. chops, tone, and feeling = a nice blues package. oh, and it doesn't hurt that he can sing.
Thanx for sharing this with the rest of us guitar players/blues lovers. It happens rarely these days that I get so inspired by watching a blues guitarist. A true masterclass!
Thank you very much, im a good friend of Chris's and he has a lot of fans here in Australia
I believe the name is "Good Evening Baby" .. Live Blues is just a descriptive for youtube searches ..
Chris is still awesome after all these years. Hope to see him in Seattle sometime.
Paul.... an exGelbite
Gelbite! I am Geoff, son of Norm...
In 1984 Norm officiated at our wedding in Palo Alto
@@paulhsommer He did a few of those. He did Kevin's too. I'm always pleased to bump into a Gelbite, in the real world as well as the cyber. I have many pleasant kid memories of Gelb, from the Sid Gelb days forward. I'm also pleased that Chris is still working and now world famous. I spent time with Chris back in the 80s at junior college jazz improv classes, then later working sound for his band when they played Barney's. Good times.
Saw him last night for the first time at Biscuit and Blues.. He was incredible!! I'm a new fan .
What a wonderful musican, and this is a first time I've heard him! Thank you for sharing.
on the money!
good evening baby
great song
I had never heard you before.
I'm glad I dropped by.
You are pure mojo man.
Keep up the good work.
Another outstanding tune by Chris, a legend and a truly nice guy, and his band, who are having a great time playing. To the few critical comments below, David Matthews has been a heavyweight, in demand keyboard player for many years, who is equally at home playing straight ahead jazz or blues or anything else on B3 and piano. He has played with a ton of great performers for many years, including Tower of Power, Etta James, and Santana, because he is a nice person and he is a great, versatile musician. Chris loves his playing, which is why he hires Dave. Everyone has their opinion about what is good, but when it is insulting, ridiculous, and laughable, please keep it to yourself-you only make yourself look ignorant.
Wonderful!
Yes, and B.B. King is one of his biggest inspirations. Chris Cain will be performing at a Blues Festival and I will be going to it!
We recorded both sets. Have started editing another tune where Chris plays piano that is really cool. Will put it up when finished.
@kyblues
txs a lot for the vid !!! & i agree: chris cain 5*****
Caleb Owens, FYI, Dave is now with Carlos Santana, hardly "jobless." And when he takes a solo, we call it The Dave Show and love it and him, as he is one of the nicest, most loving people on the planet. Same goes for Chris. Don't judge without all the facts. It makes you sound ignorant.
@SRVMOE thanks .. our quality went up when SONY VEGAS Pro went to 32 bit renders. it was a 4 camera shoot .. all fairly inexpensive consumer models. an old SONY, 2 Canon HV30, and an older Canon. our experience is the 32 bit rendering makes all the difference. Can make an inexpensive camera shot look good.
@jayfarmer because so few people know about him over in the US. I live in California and i only know of him between guitarist. He doesn't really leave San Jose.
Whew! Fine stuff
message received from Hillbilly Jim:
I knew the first time I saw Chris .. that he had to be as good as anyone has ever been. I'm just glad that the world is catching on to what I already knew.
Hillbilly Jim / SiriusXM Radio/WWE
Can't SOMEONE get him EC's crossroads thingy along with Jimmy Herring?
CC....how blue can you get? Total guitar lesson from every song he performs.
Thanks for loving duh blues
Master organ player David K. Matthews
What camera did you shoot this with ? it came out amazing !!!! great shoot !!!!!!
wish he would come to NYC...I missed him when he played Terra Blues
in Greenwich Village awhile back !!!!!
@crobacon, you might "hate" this keyboard player, but Carlos Santana doesn't. Ever hear of Santana? He's kind of a big deal. Anyways, Carlos hired him to play in his band, and has been touring the world for a couple years now. D.K. Matthews has worked with all the greats, including Etta, as he was her musical director. And D.K. was a long, long time member of another band you haven't yet heard of, Tower of Power. Don't need him? Hmmm. OK, that's certainly a unique take on things. Wow.
"is one of the best, if not the best, blues guitarists and singers we have ever heard", sorry, that we have NOT heard of... And that is a crime. OMG is he good.
Guitar player??? What about the bass player, he's a monster
yessir , Steve Evans!
There's a nice pay lake not far from where he was staying. But he never asked, Dick.
We had them rooms for 2 days...I think they just wanted to chill from the road.
Got anymore of Chris from this gig?
Did you guys take Evans fishing?????
Is the name of this song Live Blues...?
hmm, for a few pro camera filming, sound quality could be better
Sound is pretty good.... Why don't you go film it if you think the audio is so bad?
MANJARO Linux brought me here.
Chris on guitar, Moron on lights.....
Instead of putting time into your tattoos, black shirt, hat and glasses, why didn't the organ player learn to play that Casio! LOL Wat a mess!
Chris Cain is the best!
Jackie Chan on drums... (".)
Dunno bout the best
