    I'm a huge Chris Cain fan and Guy King is one of my favorite new discoveries. But I never thought I'd see the day someone would out "tone" Chris Cain. This new guitar just doesn't have the warmth and complex tone of his classic 335. In every video I can hear the difference, even when playing through his MusicMan amp. Kind of a bummer,, because his tone was so sweet. But any Chris Cain is good stuff. Guy King is such a talent as well. Love this video.

      It’s not the guitar, it’s the amp he’s playing through at this event. Obviously.

    This stuff always puts a smile on my face. i would love to get up & jam with guys like this. Thy have such a mutual respect for each other. Not too many blues players left in this part of the world & those who do lack professionalism eg rhythm not pulling back to give the soloist space etc. Very frustrating.

      You're SO right. Absolutely Albert King. Been listening to them both (AK/BBK) for decades. You can, after only one note, two at the most which it is... Albert or BB. Of course, Chris Cain is usually straight up modified BB King but they're both channeling Albert King.

      With those deep step and a half bends, Chris has a habit of going though strings. I've seen him finish a song down to 4 and still killing it. It may seem like he's just playing BB King licks but the man knows the fingerboard like nobody. And he can transpose that stuff anywhere on the neck and onto whatever strings he's got left.

    Guy King is just incredible - stone cold player, infinitely generous musician, and a great ambassador for the blues and music in general. Chris is a great player and performer but didn't match Guy's generosity and stepped on Guy's solo too much.

    • @6SL
      @6SL 4 года назад +1

      Well, they're covering an Albert King tune from '68. And why not? They're just channeling AK's guitar vocabulary. When Chris is playing his own music his BB influence shows so much that one could say he's copying BB. That's where he learned. Chris' biggest influence is indeed BBK and it shows up in the way he "speaks" in a big way...
