The clubs like ours that started back in the 90s have our own style and very little interest in following recent trends from the other side of the world. There's a slow move towards the latest commercially bought equipment, but much of the homemade stuff we made decades ago is better suited to the task, so we've stuck with it. I'm about to retire a vambrace that I've been using for 25 years, not because there's anything wrong with it, but because it's starting to fall apart. I may make a replacement, or I may just buy a commercial one, which will probably be less effective, but will certainly be cheaper.
Yes unfortunately a lot of them also have "very little interest" in following the more recent research and information coming from the other side of the world too...
What's that supposed to mean? Stoccata has been a world leader in research into Western Martial Arts since last century. There are very few, if any individual clubs that have produced more books and research papers than us. We take an active interest in other people's research, but, for example, in my main area of research and teaching, the system of George Silver, which research outside my own book and videos should I turn to? There are some dissenting opinions on my interpretation of Silver, but they explicitly contradict what Silver actually says and when exponents of my interpretation meet other Silver practitioners, the results speak for themselves. In short, if you have a specific gripe, please air it (you may want to use your name as well, rather than hiding behind an anonymous pseudonym). If, instead, you are just trying to snipe at Stoccata for whatever reason, then please don't bother. We have better things to do with our time, like fence and research the treatises.
They are fantastic. Light, never move or slip, and wrap right round the knee. I did, however, get one size too big! I have a M on order, then I'll pass mine onto someone taller...
Just have to tease about your pronounciation of gorget. Don't forget it is a solid t at the end. Gorjit, gorget, gorjet, and gorjet are all valid pronounciations across a couple dozen languages and english dialects. Gorget and sallet are two that people like to frenchify with gorjay and sallay but that is incorrect though widespread. Even matt easton and other notables say both. Just have to tease. Good video.

Varies a lot from branch to branch within Stoccata too. Some branches are pretty much exclusively using modern commercially available gear.
