my 6 yr old son is obsessed with Spelunky 2 right now, he watches all your videos & asked me to watch this one cause all he needed was the golden key. It took a few hours & now I'm probably gonna get 3 hours of sleep till i got to go to work but man is it gonna be worth it to hear him tell me how awesome i am for unlocking the third tunnel
What I found much easier for the hired hand is if you kill the big fish on 4-2 you can get a hired hand so I didn't have to deal with keeping them alive for the first level. If you don't know how to kill them, you can swim down to the bottom and there should be a hole at the bottom where the fish can swim up to but not into. From there I just spammed whip and killed him. It's more like just carrying them through 4-3 and 4-4 because you get them at the bottom of the level.
I also think the hires hand im the fish has full trust so he won't jump after 7 seconds, and he will sleep immediately and longer duration upto 2 minutes.
For the hired hand part, there's literally a hired hand at the last lvl before the ice caves. This is only if you're doing the tablet of destiny mission. The hired hand is just at the bottom in the water. I get the tablet of destiny and finish the lvl before getting the hired hand then continuing the the next lvl.
The hardest part is getting the Gold Key to 5-1 for getting the shortcut to 5-1. Took me and my little brother +2 weeks to get there for my little brother's account, and it took me a day for my account 😂
Im doing the Spelunky 1 HD temple shortcut, and need to deliver the same dreaded gold key to the cave man Sounds a bit hard to be careful not to be thrown by a yeti and dropping gold key in the abyss
For the golden key, I can imagine getting a really lucky Kali spawn on a turkey level could give you the kapala, which would make the escort a bit easier

I managed to get the gold key request done in 5 minutes in my first attempt. As long as you don’t forget to grab the key whenever you drop it, you should be fine
for weapons through volcana, you could also steal van horsing's crossbow if you dont want shopkeeps or tun to hunt you, but in all honeslty i dont see that being neccesary in any resonable situation.
For anyone worried about the Key request, it's actually pretty easy if you know what you're doing, it's much easier with at least 4 health and a jetpack/ any cape and the Ankh in the lair, it only took me 2 tries to do the request.

I know im gonna get disagreed with but the key challenge isnt that hard. Sure its hard for people who just got into spelunky but after a week or two you can do it on your first try

You can also get a hired hand in Abzu, that's the safest bet because its only has to be alive for that one level
If you have a hired hand for a few levels you can pick it up then put it down and sleeps for the level
