I love the gift that the person wouldn’t necessarily buy for themselves but will use regularly and appreciate - the gift card for 1 year of Spotify premium, car wash tickets, new towels, etc. One year my mom bought me a tub of all of the household goods I regularly used like laundry detergent, dish soap, and sponges. It saved me from having to buy that stuff for almost six months and was an absolute lifesaver that year!
Stop gifting stuff thinking 'It's the thought that counts'. The amount of stuff I see on the Buy Nothing Group the week after the holidays is headlined with: 'I don't want this'. Candles, perfume, books, clothing, toys...etc. It is amazing how much money we spend on something that gets donated, thrown away, shoved into the back of a closet or put on their local Buy Nothing Group.
Happy Thanksgiving America.
How dare you! I don't celebrate. God bless.
As I approach my 30’s I love getting socks for Christmas and when I was a kid I use to hate them 😂
I was so shocked when George said he pulled a muscle. Then he said it was in his sleep and I was like "That sounds more believable." : D
Cooking the mac n cheese while listening to you guys before i head out to my parents house. Thanks for keeping the upload on Thursday even if its Thanksgiving! ❤
Vibes
That has to be the smoothest side note into delete me thus far, Rachel wins that one for sure 😅
My mom would ask "What do you need?" for Christmas, but my MIL would ask "What do you want?" She said you will always get what you need, but Christmas is for things you want. I had to make 2 separate lists for our 3 kids, but it always worked out.😊
I hope to be the parent who asks what my kids want and if it’s a list of needs I get it without question.
I bet one would help you more during a tragedy than the other. I've noticed one side of the family is "fun" and the other is responsible.
Honestly, my favorite gifts are the ones I need that I didn’t have to buy for myself.
I like both approaches both are sincere. Shows you they care about you in a different way.
Some of my all-time favourite gifts to give important people in my life, it did not cost very much money, is a bag of homemade shortbread cookies, A homemade kitchen apron for Grammie that says need a little hand in the kitchen with the kids handprints on it using paint, homemade tool belt for Grampy that says, need them hand Grampy, with the kids, hand prints in paint…
😂"I pulled a muscle in my shoulder in my sleep last night" -- That happens to us too!
You know you're gettin' old when you can pull a muscle in your sleep!
ouch!
@@alleykeosheyan4779A comedian said that you know you are getting old when you get an injury while sleeping.
Totally relatable!
I just pulled a muscle in my neck while sleeping, too
I do like to buy myself things with the holiday deals. I'm so grateful we stopped buying other adults gifts, resulting in much less stress. The only people who are hurt by that are those with "gifts" as their love language. They really still want to give and receive something meaningful.
Ha! I brought a milk frother to the last white elephant (it was work so they nixed the “stealing” portion) and the recipient loved it enough to mention it several times
I did the lotto scratch cards once and I could tell everyone thought it was super lame… dunno why… o thought it was cool
Oil sprayer I got is AmAZING
Thank you for that hour-long commercial. George it ain't your grandma's instant coffee anymore, is it ?
Great ideas ! Love the vintage cocktail book recipe idea. Fun gift.
Happy Thanksgiving 🇨🇦
Thanks for a Thanksgiving Day show. Listened as I cooked.
And for the record...
1. I'd love a spa gift card from my spouse
2. I always get myself a Christmas gift. 🎁 (Not going in debt to do it, of course!) 😂
I give my wife usually a red lobster gift card. It is her favorite restaurant. She loves it. I include Christmas and birthdays in one category called gifts. I make it a sinking fund so I save throughout the year.
Gift cards to a favorite place are great! Sadly people have given me gift cards to places I would never use.
I finished my Christmas shopping before Halloween. I don't care if I miss out on some "good deals," as I hate to shop (brick and mortar OR online) and I detest crowds.😉😊 With no littles to shop for, all of our gifts are practical, which is my preference, anyway. It goes without saying, I am not a good or creative gift giver. Although, my future DIL loves Hello Kitty, and all on my own I thought of gifting her a HK throw blanket (my son also thought she would love it when I ran the idea past him). My husband and I have not exchanged gifts (Christmas, birthday or anniversary) for years. I do buy something for under the tree, but it's something we'd have gotten anyway. This year my husband's getting a KC Chiefs zip up hoodie, and I'm getting two cereal bowls in my dish pattern from eBay to replace broken ones.
Me too. I don't like shopping at the last minute.
We try to always give "useful" gifts - nice biscuits, jams, hats & scarves, socks, decorations for the tree (most of these handmade) so it's not clutter in someone's home xx
Same! Consumables are always worth while.
Call me Scrooge but I hate gift giving, except for my kids. I feel like gift giving amongst adults is a waste of time and money. If an adult wants something they buy it themselves, unless it’s not in their budget in which case it’s not in my budget to buy for them😅
I give cash inside of Christmas cards. Ive never had a complaint.
Aura photo frames are great gifts for grandparents. The kids upload pics of the grandkids from their own phone and it shows up in the rotation at Grandma's house!
Funny story that happened this Thanksgiving. We are staying at a B&B and I got some terrible, horrendous leg cramps and my husband asked if I brought my vibrator.!😂😂😂 I said, do you mean my massage gun?😂😂😂 the entire family is here celebrating with us.
😂😂🫣🤭
I'm still laughing at George "How do you get the pictures out of there?" Too funny, but also an excellent idea for my nephew! I found a green dinosaur camera for ages 3 and up that will be perfect for him. And it comes with cables/cards to transfer photos. Phew! 😂
You just gave me my oldest son’s gift !!! Thank you!!
I remember many years ago a man at my church received I think was a tie with the names of his grandkids. Don't remember if it was Christmas or Father's Day but a very sentimental gift that can be given.
Life's too short, like the charging cable
Hey George. I would love the traders Joes recipe. ❤
I do indeed have the massage chair. A zero g one. But to be fair I’m a migraine sufferer and it was an anniversary gift to help reduce the number of er visits related to migraines. Definitely worth the splurge
Rachel - we need the outfit details on your LTK!
Now that all my siblings and I are adults, my family does not exchange gifts but rather we only do white elephant. My nieces and nephews get gifts but not the adults
Wasn't Ramsey Studios/Ramsey Solutions closed yesterday? I thought they were closed 'til Monday.
A Leatherman is always a great gift.
For our extended family, holiday get together...we no longer exchange names. We now rent a park shelter w/ a kitchen & have an 'auction'. The auction $ pays for the rental (some may donate an item & others may spend bid on items...or do both).
Okay these are awesome gift ideas! I actually have a meat chopper tool on my Christmas list and my husband has a cocktail book on his list too!
Not sure if it has anything to do with what you guys talk about but will like to advise your community of the gift cards scam/fraud. Be very careful. I felt so bad for my daughter as she wanted the gift cards to buy herself a gift I didn’t think it was smart to spend the money on to later find out that the $100 card didn’t have a single dime😢. Anyway I think is a good topic
Can we put George and Dave’s differences aside and agree on a 5% withdraw rate. Not too risky and not too conservative. Sweet spot. Happy Thanksgiving 🦃
Love a neck fan
The Trader Joe's instant coffee is good. I have. frother too, best investment.
Sans mentioned
Dump all the garbage amazon clothing in the trash
George I don't believe you about the instant coffee .George .you're Arabic Baptist. no lying.
I can vouge for it. I buy it and mix it wtih cocoa, etc. to make a coffee treats.
I heard this and wondered what happened to George!!!! I mean I put instant coffee for lower down the coffee ladder then a Keurig. Are you ok George?? 🥺
We give each other permission to splurge on something. A new tool that's just that bit extra, a new outfit or kitchen item for me. Makes the item extra Special when we get it.
Why are we talking about giftgiving during Thanksgiving we still got a month until Christmas
Because you need to budget for them in the beginning of the month 😉
Someone in the background has a loud sneeze at like 10:13 lol
Rachel please spay and neuter your pets!!! Too many animals being euthanized in shelters that need homes!
