Bilal is struggling in silence with university, family life and money. As he desperately looks for a way out, the devastating impact of a hidden addiction takes over all aspects of his life. I couldn't be prouder of this film. This is the most personal one I've made to date, and our entire team were absolute stars! Getting the opportunity to tell a story that matters to me, to raise awareness about an important topic noone speaks about, and to represent a character/community that we almost never get to see on screen...those are the reasons I became a filmmaker. Stories matter. And I feel so privileged to have gotten to make this.

That the writer managed to get it all in; the crossing over of lines in the sand, personality change, temper tantrums, deceitfulness, manipulation of loved ones, self justification, increasing isolation...credit to his ability to synthesize and build a narrative. An amazing piece of work which has already touched many gamblers in recovery and will stand the test of time. Well done one and all.

It's such a harmful hook in...and the first few wins truly do make it addictive. Definitely needs to be talked about more.
i had to finally get myself to pause at 20 minutes something to say his main guy actor has got some serious talent. Seriously though bro you went in hard. Im sure to say we gonna see him in some things.

I loved this, the only criticism i can give, is the last 5 minutes - I would have had the older chap see that Bilal was gambling, there was no indicators that he suspected it. Aside from this, it did put across the "urge" to bet, very well indeed, i just wish that perhaps during the end scene, it was Ryan - not the older fella doing the comforting. (as it was in place for him to possibly be aware of the issues)
That's a really insightful comment, thank you SO much for sharing it. I'll definitely take that on board. Our reasoning behind Steve being the one to catch the signs, is that so many ex-gamblers from our research really destroyed the relationships of those that were closest to them. His best mate. His mum. His boxing coach. But Steve basically implies he's an ex gambler at the end by saying "Ive felt what you've felt right now....etc". Steve is the only one whose been through it, and so he can figure out that Bilal has changed, spends more time alone in the toilet, is more anxious, is more irritable etc.
I love that were discussing these things though. The truth of it is there is never one solution, and we definitely need to have discussions about the best ways to tackle these things

What an amazing short film that uncovers a real harm that's prevalent in our communities. Great work Shehroze and the entire cast and crew for bringing this to life. What really stands out is how the stages of addiction that Bilal goes through in this film can be applied to so many other social ills of our time.

@@Shehroze to be honest I had to hit my lowest point I was prepared to go to before I decided I needed help. Whilst in that bubble nothing would have helped me, but when I found out I wasn't alone and people have done what I had done and now have "normal" lives, that's when it clicked. If those stories were out there for me to here maybe that would have inspired me sooner

So true! Especially for gambling addiction, it’s hard for people to realise it’s a difficult and harmful thing to experience, and it doesn’t need to be met with shame or stigma 💛
This hit home I had a bad gambling problem I used to get paid £1200 a month and by the next day i was skint stressed and lost my mrs my home it’s a evil evil illness and needs more recognition 😒

Fantastic, gritty short film. There needs to be more awareness about gambling harm. I've been there and it's not a game. I ruined my life for years in my 20's. 9 years of recovery in GA and things are so much better now.

This was a rlly good short film about gambling my uncle was a gambling addict and spent all his money going to the casino to gamble.

So glad you enjoyed . Thanks for watching :) It was so important for us to show some light at the end of the tunnel. It's not a happily ever after, but it's a first step to making a change, and hoping that for a lot of people suffering , they are able to take that first step!
I've seen short films and plays trying to depict the horrors of gambling and it's a really tough thing to pull off but this film does it brilliantly. Amazing job, well done all involved and thanks for making it.
That will mean an awful lot to the team behind this, it is truly a difficult topic to delve into and do justice, we hope this at leasts leads to more open conversations about the dangers of gambling 🙏

@@hamed6446 all the acting was great but especially that of the 'gambler'. Really captured the intense level of stress a compulsive gambler is under and how easy it is fall into it.
The setting and other characters made it believable.
Good quality production.
I liked the effects showing the money going up and down etc. and how his moods changed with each move. Really effective way of illustrating the range of feelings a gambler goes through and how tense and painful it becomes.

What a great film, really well made and especially acted! it really made me think about the emotional anguish he was going through and why he felt trapped in that situation. The shame and guilt but feeling there is no way to take back what he had done without carrying on. Very powerful!

@@shehrozekhan8695 to be honest I was getting a sinking feeling in my stomach towards the end thinking someone was going to get hurt, so I was relieved when steve showed up and offered compassion and understanding, and not blame or anger
Couldn't agree more. I'm so glad we got to end it like that, because it isn't a happily ever after. It's more like, he's taken his first step. He's on the journey now, and it's always going to be tough. But hes finally taken the first step towards help. The risk of relapse is real and so terrifying
