Thank you for all of your help, and great information. Went to the gentleman's house to pick up the RT-909 today. Came home with a never been used Tascam 38 that the same guy had!
OH MY GOD!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! This is SO EPIC man! Wow. But wait, in looking at the stats for this machine it appears this is a 1/2" machine? Are you aware of this? So it's another (larger) tape format that's not exactly "simpatico" with the usual tapes you might want to indulge in which are 1/4" Arrgh! Anyway perhaps you knew this and still didn't care. Rocking a 1/2" deck will invariable also jack up the cost of the required media. More expensive tapes are necessary.
@@LetThereBeSound1 Yes it is 1/2 inch, 10.5 reels, IEC, CCIR, 15 ips. I also found and purchased parts to fix my Pioneer 1020l it is great for 1/4 needs. I still like the sound of my Teac A-1500-W 7 inch. I run SACD's through a Cambridge Audi up-sampling DAC to make mix tapes on it. It has erase, record, and 2 playback heads. 4 heads total. Put some money into it to refurbish.
@@LetThereBeSound1 Awesome! I am a big fan of the Superhiend RUclips channel, i.e. Zavalinka Records. I only have a Teac 7 inch reel to reel now, but have been looking at several 10.5 models. Hopefully in the near future I will be ordering some tapes! Thank You very much for your response.
@@LetThereBeSound1 Thanks, but I just picked up a black case Pioneer RT-909. The guy was going to restore it but never got around to it. Came with new old stock heads, sealed in box. Pinch rollers, and new power supply, new power cord, and belt kit. The unit looks new.
@@hi-fihaven2257 Fantastic find! Congratulations! That's one fine deck. Let me know once you've sharpened your skills perhaps we can trade mix tapes! :-)
