it's basically an early access game sold at full AAA launch prices, and you being the beta tester for free and you pay them to be their beta tester, for the next 4 or 5 years until their game is finally done and meant to be sold. that seems to be every AAA dev nowadays, i mean it was this with Cyberpunk, and now it's going to be this with starfield, and if you think about it, every game has been like this for the last decade since they introduced DLC, because the game isn't fully complete until all the DLC is released and all updates to fix the game are released. i guess skyrim didn't really end it's development up until it reached anniversary edition.

every time i see someone point out the numbers of how much money bethesda made off of this game, they never think of the people who simply can't get a refund and who hate this game and it's never taken into consideration into their demographics of success. because every single day i see another review like this pouring in with people complaining about how bad the game is, and this is from people who played over 100 hours worth of the game and they are regretting it, maybe it's genius for bethesda to make a game you have to spend more than 100 hours just to know for sure if you really like the game or not, because they tricked you into thinking their game was deep and meaningful, when in reality it was about as deep as a puddle the whole time. now i could see this game possibly getting better in 5 years from now, but i'm not sure i'm as confident in them as i used to be anymore, the idea of this game was ambitious and the issue is they sold everyone on the idea that they upgraded their engine and made it seem they were capable of surpassing the issues of the past like the load screen issues, but no, that will never happen with the creation engine, it's always going to have a limit to it's overall functionality, where that kind of gameplay is simply impossible, well not impossible, but not very fun because they couldn't make the game engaging enough in space, what's the point of space when it's not really about space when it's just a load screen simulator game?
@@21Kiloton i know of a fun way to get rid of the pronouns, basically don't tell people your mod disables them, name your mod something else, the mod does that something else but also gets rid of the pronoun nonsense, then make another mod that does the same thing and never tell people your mod takes the pronouns out, they will have a lot of fun trying to find the issue, they might accuse you of doing this, but all you can say to that is that it could be their load order or it's a conflict with another mod or you are new to modding and don't know how to fix it. any number of these excuses will work without issue, because we know how modding works in bugthesda games, this way you won't get banned and they won't be able to figure out what is causing it, when it's all of your mods lol. that will rightfully fuck them over and provide lots of fun, i would try to make mods that everyone wants, like a sexy female follower, these usually get downloaded lots on the nexus. i know it's not ideal, but it will work and they won't be able to figure it out, and this process if you want to could be split up with many accounts and maybe you could encourage other modders to get onto this idea lol, the nexus sent many modders away within the last decade because they didn't like something that modder was doing, well get these guys to all make mods on the nexus again and have them all add in the same tweaks to all of their mods, and then eventually the nexus won't have a clue how to stop it because a lot of other people are doing it lol. btw, always use an adblocker on the nexus, i know you don't want to support them and preventing their ads is crucial, they gain nothing from you and you end up using their infrastructure like with youtube and many other sites that pull this shit.

That makes sense. For Starfield, they clearly decided they could do without any professional science fiction writers, instead just outsource it to Chat GPT. Imagine what the world will be like in 2300? No., we can do without that. Lets just put Texas 2023 in space, thats enough.

it's really disgusting the amount of early access review copy shilling there was on this game. A lot of smaller youtubers I respected "reviewed" this game and said it was amazing. I lost respect for them. Only a handful of youtubers and review outlets gave this game the 'mid' score it deserved with their shill, I mean, review copies. IGN and Gamespot somehow did it, and a few large youtubers who I gained a ton of respect for (penguinz0, luke stephens, asmongold, jack sather). And I want to single out GManLives as one of the worst shills on the platform, he was bought off to review AC Valhalla, got a free xbox and said it was an amazing game. This time was no different. I write for GameSpot! Every reviewer has their own views, of course, but our writers do their best to avoid praising mediocrity. I recently reviewed Starfield's biggest update yet, and I wasn't gonna BS anyone about the state of this game. Did they introduce some good quality-of-life features? Yes. Are you punished with an XP reduction for using them? Also yes. Is it still a buggy mess? Absolutely, yes. Maybe Shattered Space will breathe some life into it this fall when it comes out, but unless they give us a new companion with a moral compass that doesn't point due north like the other four, I doubt it'll change much.

Bethesda's Gamebryo-fork is a fossil. It was outdated even in the mid 00's and Bethesda had to resort to improvising and trickery to feign then-modern engine capabilities. In Fallout 3, the metro trains aren't actual trains. They're hats. Yes, hats. An NPC is wearing them and you can see the NPC under the floor if you move the camera. The NPC simply runs at an accelerated pace to mimic a subway cart. If they can't even make a train, what chance in hell did space exploration ever have? None. That's why it all feels sterile and like you're on a theater stage. It's insulting.
I remember Obsidian saying how archaic and limited it was when they were making New Vegas, and New Vegas came out in 2010! What's even more baffling is they owned id, who make the id tech engines that run things like Doom and Wolfenstein. They look amazing and scale incredibly well to the point you still get silky smooth frame rates while it looks good on a potato.
Trying to imagine a wheeled ground vehicle with their engine's abysmal and ridiculously outdated collision system is hilarious. Like, their terrain is still just a flat blocky texture, and even the slightest change of angle would cause the vehicle to noticeably "straighten" out, so it would appear to oscillate constantly as you drove it. I mean, they can't even implement ladders - they had to use a scripted animation, bahaha! xD
@@TalesOfWar To be fair, Obsidian did say that a large part of their limitations came from working within the console's, mostly the PS3's limitations. The PS3 absolutely broke itself when trying to make The Strip and Freeside one whole map. Heck, The Strip itself had to be dialed back so hard they scraped most buildings and NPCs in order for it to run. That said, there's blame on Bethesda's engine too, being that their engine could not effectively handle RAM usage which make it prone to crashing, specially in Gomorrah's. Even on a powerhouse PC today, install NV with no mods and go walk in Freeside, then the Strip and enter Gomorrah and go inside every floor. You are guaranteed to trigger memory overflow and CTD. Why? Because NV is a 32-bit application and has a natural limit of 2GB of RAM usage, no matter how much RAM you actually have. Now some nay-sayers may note that 32-bit applications were the norm until the mid 00s and most 7th gen games are also 32-bit until the early 10s, but unlike Bethesda's engine, most games run on engines that can properly handle memory streaming unless you go out of your way to install 4K texture packs/inject a lot of scripts/stress the physics to an insane degree. BTW, Bethesda has never fixed poor memory streaming in the games to this day. They just rely on their games now being 64-bit applications that can use a lot more RAM instead. It's why Todd Howard unironically suggested users who have problems with Starfield just upgrade their PCs instead. Cheers.
Almost exactly how I expected the game to turn out, all of the same issues as the previous games they made, insert some new ones, just didn't think it would get this 'diverse' until I saw your warning signs video. The ESG friendly stuff is really just the cherry on top of this shitcake, BG3 had that crap too but at least it's an actual fun game to play as a RPG, there is no meat in this Starfield game, it is visually unappealing, has no character, no actual RPG mechanics in this so called RPG and a boring FPS gameplay loop and outdated mechanics that were already outdated in the XBOX360 days.
@@SammEater The ESG stuff in BG3 was enough of a turnoff for me, but I'd play that game before this game if mandated. A shame so much money went into Starfield, but the core mechanics just make it feel like a 2nd job without the benefits, a pity that can partly be attributed to Emil.
@@TwistedTammer Yeah. And besides at least in BG3 you get the option to kill all the esg friendly characters and have an entire storyline of your character be pretty much a full psychopath. OK someone, I don't remember who now, explained the buffering issue really well. What happens is that every time you load in and out of scanner mode and switch between weapons in the quick weapons change sub menu (especially when the weapon has a lot of extra skills attached to it) the game indexes your entire inventory, and does it again for as many skills as your gun has. So, the bigger your inventory the bigger the buffer because the game isn't just loading your weapon or switching modes, it's loading your whole inventory several times.

I heavily have to disagree with the size of this game. I played this free over Gamepass, have 250 hours in it and done everything. Literally everything. This game is tiny. Its comically tiny. If you ignore the randomly generated trash this game is smaller then any open world game I have played in the last ten years. every time i see someone point out the numbers of how much money bethesda made off of this game, they never think of the people who simply can't get a refund and who hate this game and it's never taken into consideration into their demographics of success.
because every single day i see another review like this pouring in with people complaining about how bad the game is, and this is from people who played over 100 hours worth of the game and they are regretting it, maybe it's genius for bethesda to make a game you have to spend more than 100 hours just to know for sure if you really like the game or not, because they tricked you into thinking their game was deep and meaningful, when in reality it was about as deep as a puddle the whole time.
now i could see this game possibly getting better in 5 years from now, but i'm not sure i'm as confident in them as i used to be anymore, the idea of this game was ambitious and the issue is they sold everyone on the idea that they upgraded their engine and made it seem they were capable of surpassing the issues of the past like the load screen issues, but no, that will never happen with the creation engine, it's always going to have a limit to it's overall functionality, where that kind of gameplay is simply impossible, well not impossible, but not very fun because they couldn't make the game engaging enough in space, what's the point of space when it's not really about space when it's just a load screen simulator game?
@@21Kiloton
i know of a fun way to get rid of the pronouns, basically don't tell people your mod disables them, name your mod something else, the mod does that something else but also gets rid of the pronoun nonsense, then make another mod that does the same thing and never tell people your mod takes the pronouns out, they will have a lot of fun trying to find the issue, they might accuse you of doing this, but all you can say to that is that it could be their load order or it's a conflict with another mod or you are new to modding and don't know how to fix it.
any number of these excuses will work without issue, because we know how modding works in bugthesda games, this way you won't get banned and they won't be able to figure out what is causing it, when it's all of your mods lol.
that will rightfully fuck them over and provide lots of fun, i would try to make mods that everyone wants, like a sexy female follower, these usually get downloaded lots on the nexus.
i know it's not ideal, but it will work and they won't be able to figure it out, and this process if you want to could be split up with many accounts and maybe you could encourage other modders to get onto this idea lol, the nexus sent many modders away within the last decade because they didn't like something that modder was doing, well get these guys to all make mods on the nexus again and have them all add in the same tweaks to all of their mods, and then eventually the nexus won't have a clue how to stop it because a lot of other people are doing it lol.
btw, always use an adblocker on the nexus, i know you don't want to support them and preventing their ads is crucial, they gain nothing from you and you end up using their infrastructure like with youtube and many other sites that pull this shit.
Hearing about all the glitches, social politics, and poor design choices plaguing this game, I'm glad to see you rip it a new one.

Cheers.
GOATED comment bravo that is freakin hilarious!

Holy f*ck, the most quotable quote of 2023 goddamit
My cat dropped a DLC for this game in her litterbox.
Men in Starfield are working doubletime trying to maintain the population since most people you see are females for some reason
Admiral Logan's office shouldn't be terribly far, lets go.
>You will notice elements of (...) Freelancer
ah, a man of culture I see
Thank you sir.
So glad I didn't get swept up in the hype for this game. As a huge fan of science fiction it hurts so bad that Bethesda could fail this hard at making a good game.
Everything about it is such a letdown.
Apparently most of the higher ups took their payout and bailed on the company after selling out, figures...
Honestly, after the decline of Fallout and Bethesdas tendencies for exaggerated anouncments anyone pre-ordering or buying their games without watching at least 10hrs of reviews should have their brains checked. The worst part about this is that even somewhat positive reviews sound like someone just condensed buyers remorse into a video.
@@Gruftkriecher They've been degrading since morrowind in most areas lol. They've been "1 steps forward 2 steps back".
No Jeremy Soule music in the game unfortunately. In fact no Jeremy music ever again, so expect a drop in quality in the Elder Scrolls 6 music. Sucks because music in Oblivion and Skyrim is one of the best parts. I'll never get tired of hearing it.
I still can't comprehend how there's so many players still playing on steam given the fact that this game is pretty much an empty canvas for modders
Skyrim was actually Jeremy Soule composing the soundtrack, that's why it's league better than the other games haha
Apoliges. You are absolutely correct.
No worries. Very good video nonetheless @@21Kiloton
The fact that I had not heard of this channel until synthetic man mentioned it, shows how RUclips's algorithm 'works' to prevent us from finding actual content we like.
Ah well, i'm here now. Subbed.
Also, Inun is a tribe member, so naturally he's a penny pinching j....
I've already watched dozens of hours of content roasting Starfield. It's not enough. It'll never be enough. More!
Omg I was drinking coffee during the part where Sarah spams "Admiral Logan's office shouldn't be terribly far, let's go". I legit almost spit out some coffee in laughter when she said in a modulated voice while wearing a space suit. 😂
Starfield took the space exploration direcy from Mass Effect 1... But at least ME1 had fewer loading screens and a ground vehicle.
And goofing around with the Mako could be fun
Ironically TODD picked the one game genre that would reveal all his weaknesses in game design
It's hubris at this point. Being acquired by Microsoft for billions probably sent him over the edge of fart-sniffing that he was already dangerously close to.
Fun fact: in the game files for NPC looks, the developers use Male/Female and C/A/B to indicate race. No pronouns there...
"Confusion and uncertainty for thee, obvious and informative categorization for me."
LMAO @29:24 . If Todd " I was on the otherside of town when we killed her. " Howard. 💀
Wow, I love how this is the first notification I’ve had since your Redfall video. RUclips is burying you.
Yes. Yes they are Stanetti

Scumbags.
As a gentleman once said: “I’ve been looking forward to this “
Part 2 of this better be at least a few days away, cos I haven't stopped laughing since watching this, and now it's actually starting to hurt.
I just don't know how much more i could take. Jesus Christ.
Superb.
Nice shout out for Razor, WAB and Synth.
I've found WAY more enjoyment watching YT videos critiquing/trashing Starfailed than I did in my 20 hours of suffering the game itself.
Been wondering if you'd cover it, Spiderman 2 or Alan Wake in your usual, inimitable style.
I wrote a bad review on steam and the DEVELOPERS responded to me coping about how good they think the game is.
You wandered the galaxy as Jim Sterling 😂
21k you are a living (hopefully for vampiric ranges) legend. Always a pleasure. Nobody can capustulate games, humour, and politics as thee doth. Love yah brah. God bless.
Dude! Com on son dying for part 2 mate 🤘🏽
I concur PART 2 PART 2 PART 2 !! ( the mob is growing ) 😂
This will be a fun Saturday evening.
Imagine Peter Molyneux and Todd would work on the same project and advertising it together. They would describe a game with ABSOLUTE freedom, brilliance, depht and you will see the greatest hype ever. In the end, it would turn out being just a blank text editor where you can write...well...everything you want 😀
This is most likely the best starfield review ive watched thus far. You've got a new sub! I'll be binging tonite.
Welcome to the shitshow.
Its all downhill from here .....
I paid $100 for this piece of sh*t! I played 5 hrs and uninstalled! I'll never pre order a game again.
This guy is funny as hell. Love the swearing and how he does it. Gman lives is very good at this also.
Also, how do these companies, not get sued? They are going to keep doing this crap until there is some accountability, and I don't think it should just be in the form of people not buying their games. They should be fined millions, or people should get a refund after the ruling.

I heavily have to disagree with the size of this game. I played this free over Gamepass, have 250 hours in it and done everything. Literally everything. This game is tiny. Its comically tiny. If you ignore the randomly generated trash this game is smaller then any open world game I have played in the last ten years.
It is so lackluster in terms of content you can see everything the game has to offer in roughly 50 hours. Yes that includes going to new game plus ten. The few handcrafted locations are also small and lack content. I would never pay full price for this. It's a joke
This is criticism I can take on the chin.
Thank you.
@@21Kiloton The first time I visited new Atlantis I thought it was a relatively big area. Nope. It's masked by the loading screens. Neon is by far the biggest city and it is maybe half the size of one part of Night City from Cyberpunk. Which Neon clearly has gotten inspiration from.
The Phantom liberty DLC costs 35 dollar and just the new Dogtown Area offers more content then the entirety of Starfield.
I know Cyberpunk has it's own problems. This is just a size comparison and what you are getting for your money.
Glad you saw my comment
