Seven years later and "Atreideez nuts!" is still one of the best jokes ever uttered. Too bad this series got discontinued. This one and the Mountains of Madness were downright amazing.

Regarding the comments that say thug note did a good job explaining the whole book in 5 minutes... I'd like to point out the fact that he actually explained the whole book in 3 min. The other 2.5 min was analysis. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I’ve listened to the audiobook several times (I fell asleep by the end almost every time), I know that a the more nuanced details are missing, but this is the best explanation I’ve ever seen!

Reece Crump Audiobooks are just awesome in general. I have a buddy who drives for a living and has a really hard time reading books because of dyslexia. He started listening to audiobooks in the car and now his literary knowledge is pretty impressive. He never would have been able to absorb those stories before without having to struggle through them in his free time. Now he can just listen while he drives around at work.
Actually he (in the video)did too, a lot of the words in the are actually aravic and hebrew words. Or at least based on these languages. Do you want any examples?
Well, not perfectly. Like with how Paul didn't get his prescience from the water of life. He already had it by taking large amounts of spice. The water of life gave him the ability to communicate and have the memories of his ancestors.

hahaha the funniest part is that end where he talks about everyone having to nut up instead of worshiping people is exactly what God Emperor Leto teaches the universe with Siona in the 4th book. Damn good analysis
I remember falling in love with book my freshman year. It transformed my life because before then I was not an avid reader, hell, I never read books at all, not even for book reports. But after reading it I fell in love with books and I continue to read because of Frank Herbert's Dune.
I appreciated this 9 years ago, and I appreciate them now. The captions are so good. I’m hard of hearing and bilingual. So this has helped for nearly a decade

5:00 I saw Dune: Part 2 yesterday and couldn’t help but remember this passage as I watched. Seeing Stilgar go from a friend and somewhat mentor to falling to his knees to worship Paul as the prophecy is fulfilled is portrayed so well. I think the Villeneuve adaptation of Dune will go down as the science fiction equivalent of Peter Jackson’s adaptation of Lord of the Rings.
This is one of the best written and awesome Science Fiction novels in existence. My other favorite is Rendezvous with Rama. Both are completely self contained worlds of pure science fiction exploration and wonder.
Simo ...a film always comes out a little different from the book... sometimes a lot different... :D (I think it's hard to sell the film exactly like a book tells the story)

I remember watching this without reading the books, then Dune Part 1 got me to read the books, Now Part 2 is out and man did Thug Notes capture the essence of Dune perfectly.
Dune is the book that taught me how to read fiction and is the only book I’ve ever read more than once. It’s my all time favorite. This video is great and I’d love to see a deeper dive into the book and the other characters.
I'm flabbergasted with how fantastic this summary was! The right ammount of fun, sarcastic and insightful! Loved the conclusion, which takes away from the saviour to the inspiration to self-salvation. Wonderfully done, Sir. A surprise to be sure, but a welcomed one!
I didn't like Dune that much, but these videos always make it seem like books I thought were boring are actually really really entertaining for some reason. It might be how Sparky summarizes them. "ATREIDES NUTS SON!!"
I think the greatest thing that these videos do is to help people to find entertainment and meaning in literature they were likely forced to read and therefore likely hated when they were in school. The more of them they do, the more they encourage people to pick up a book they might not have read before, or to look back at a book that they might not have enjoyed on the first reading.
I have found that really good analysis gets to the grips with what a book is trying to say. It is hard to take just one thing away from a book, as everyone has a different response to it, but a good analysis will usually give you insight that you hadn't had yourself, and can greatly improve your enjoyment of it.
Super late to the party on this but dune is a particularly hard book to penetrate. Reading an analysis once you've finished it, then re-reading it at a later date with the analysis in mind really helps you understand and appreciate the complexity of it.
At first I though, WTF?! Then I realized how accurate and outrageous this is. Totally unique! And I love the change in vocal tone between the voiceovers and the filmed bits. Hilarious!
I had a group of seventh graders that wanted to know about dune Because they saw it on my list of my top 10 books at number one. And then they saw the trailer for the new movie. I directed all of them to this video and said watch it when you’re at home but it’s a pretty good synopsis of the story

Complex and meditative. As someone who, I suspect, just discovered this video like myself, I assume you have strong feelings about Dune. I think this video summed it up well! It is a book that defies simple interpretations, and demands that the reader engage not only with the characters and archetypes, but the philosophy as well.
I now honestly can to describe Dune in this amount of time. Amazing job! I do have to say though the book is one of the best you will ever read so go! Get it now!

Complex and meditative. As someone who, I suspect, just discovered this video like myself, I assume you have strong feelings about Dune. I think this video summed it up well! It is a book that defies simple interpretations, and demands that the reader engage not only with the characters and archetypes, but the philosophy as well.
I hope you can analyze the rest of the series or at least the ones that matter/were written by Frank Herbert.
