This is just a quick tasting of nanking cherry aka prunus tomentosa. I encourage people to grow this fruit. It is decorative with its foliage and beautiful blooms. Many people claim that it does not taste great, but if you let them ripen all the way, until they are soft, they are very tasty. If they do not ripen, they can be a bit astringent. I misspeak a couple times when discussing my climate, but my main point about my growing climate is that it can be tough growing in temperate regions compared to tropical or even colder regions.

My favorite berry,we used to have 6 bushes in Siberia
I just found them on my property today. A huge push full because of the weather we've had. I can't wait to make some jam. Thanks for your video dude🎉
Yeah I agree with you about about the shortage of zone 7 Food Forest video producers. I would appreciate any videos you put out 👍 I started a Food Forest in Lubbock, Texas 3 years ago and just put in a few Nanking cherries this year 😀. Thanks for the video!
Im going to continue to expand and learn and keep updates!
I have about a 10 of the bushes. If you can wait to pick them they actually get a little bigger and darker and a little sweeter. I make them into juice.
What a cool video! grear delivery! and I really love that you showed it off and ate it and give tips! GREAT JOB! Subed!❤
Thanks so much!!
i am going to plant these this spring, hope they grow up here in zone 2b
Good luck! Keep me update. I'm curious how they do!
They get sweeter as they get darker. I have one and will get MORE this year.
We just had an amazing season for the nanking. So much fruit.
Do these grow true to seed?
How do the nanking cherries tolerate the high temps in summer? I'm in the NC Piedmont and have been very interested in these guys. Thanks!
I’m in Kentucky and they are THRIVING in my backyard. I got a few more this year actually
Yes! What @Caleb Bartee said. I just did an update. Mine are doing awesome!
Mine won't bloom and bear. What can I do?
I planted 2 years old and they fruited after 3 years (so 5y combined). You need 2 varieties for polination.
