"You’ve gotta work really, really hard - not just for music, but for anything you do in life,” London singer Dua Lipa said about her come-up to pop star in See In Blue, a new documentary short film produced by The FADER and RUclips Music. “I didn’t think having a career like this was in my reach,” she continued.
As the daughter of a musician, Dua Lipa grew up surrounded by music, inspired by listening to Christina Aguilera, Stereophonics, and Robbie Williams as a teen. At 15, she started posting videos on RUclips, showcasing her incredibly powerful voice with covers of her favorite songs. But the transition from recording in her bedroom to recording in studios wasn’t always easy. "I’ve had ups and downs trying to find myself,” she said about the process of discovering her sound.
The earnest, neon-tinged film chronicles Dua Lipa’s transformation, interspersed with footage of her expansive performances. In See In Blue, Dua Lipa shows off her true, new self - the self she’s been working to become. Intent on authenticity and influenced by the likes of J. Cole and Nelly Furtado, her dreams of making a pop album that defines her as an artist have come true. “Mwah!”

One of the coolest things about Dua Lipa's music so far is those moments when she just cuts loose. She starts singing those harmonies with herself and it's like she's sending out rhythms and waves of pure emotion. It's her own wall of sound. She has a beautiful, evocative vocal instrument, and she knows how to use it to maximize the music's impact.
saw her live two days ago.. cannot believe how far she's come and how fast she's growing. i can't even listen to a song of hers without crying like a child. after feeling so numb for so long, she just makes me feel so alive. i hold her and her music very close to my heart.

I watched the second time and still can't get over this. She worked so hard to make her dreams come true and now she rises to a big star. Also she so "normal". I was listening to a channel called Chill Nation. They posted a remix of New Love. I couldn't stop listening to it. I checked out who the singer was, found her RUclips channel, and listened to the original. It was so raw with emotion, and I couldn't stop listening to it. I found the other videos on her channel at the time, which was Good Times, and a cover of Here by Alessia Cara I think. I was so happy that I found her because I was sure that if I didn't find her from Chill Nation, I would've never known who she was. Now she's getting so overwhelmingly popular that it's blowing my mind (mwah). I'm so proud of her, but I'm also weirdly angry that she's getting so popular. When I found out that she was on tour with Troye Sivan, I was like, "bISH I KNEW WHO SHE WAS BEFORE TROYE SIVAN KNEW HER." Regardless, I'm still proud of her, but I had to say this because it seems like everyone found her from Be The One and I knew her way before that. Okay, I'm done, I'll go back in my little emo hole.

I wish this documentary last longer
I've become such a big fan within this last 2 weeks, listening to her album (deluxe edition) on repeat, song by song, nonstop for 2 weeks. It gets better everytime I replay... especially at night, driving by the coast. The music and meaning amplify and make me such a big fan. I believe her words and feel her emotions when she sings. So fantastic! I didn't think I'd be such a fan. So much love for this girl. A bright future ahead!!!!!
