in the first episode of season 16, I’ve noticed that the each person displayed a different stage of grief:
Kai: anger (he was teaching kids to relentlessly attack and not even give their opponents a chance)
Zane: denial (he literally turned his emotions off)
Lloyd: depression (I think? He seemed really down, and very focused on cleaning the windows)
Cole: acceptance (he seemed the most put together out of everyone else)
Jay: bargaining (he kept random glasses of water around hoping to talk to nya, willing to do anything in order to see or talk to her again)

I love to see Kai returning to his old self! After season 7, the writers tried to make Kai into a comic relief rather than the hot headed short tempered Kai we know and love. It really disappointed me because Kai is my favorite Ninja. But in this Season, he seems to be slowly going back to the old Kai! Don’t get me wrong, he isn’t perfect, but it’s progress!

He simmered down a little and mellowed down too. Glad he is not too hot headed nor short tempered; I mean by now he matured and is above a “grown-up teenager”.

At first I thought Kai was like 2012 Leo because of his seriousness and dedication but he's more like Raph. Kai is less angry and more kind, serious, and committed to his friends but he has more similarities to Raph because he's short tempered, aggressive, ready to pick a fight with anyone, stubborn, and hot headed
