As a beginner should you keep the selector switch on the first one if you’re still learning how to use it ?

Is anybody familiar with a Traynor ycv40 amp? I can’t seem to get the 70’s classic rock tone?

First set all EQ knobs to "noon" (bass, mid, treble). Next use channel 1. Channel 1 is the lead/overdrive channel and is selected in one of two ways, via the Channel Select switch on the control panel, or via the Channel Select button on the supplied footswitch* pedal. A Yellow LED located next to the Channel 1 Volume control illuminates when Channel 1 is active.
Channel 1 uses a Gain control in conjunction with a Volume control to control the amount of tube-based overdrive and volume. The Gain control is used to adjust the amount of overdrive, while the Volume control allows you to set the actual loudness of the amplifier.
Set the volume knob to a level that your ears/environment can handle (not too quiet and not too loud). Then set the gain knob to 0. Gradually increase the gain knob until you get the distortion that you like.
The EQ knobs need adjusting according to the artist/band that you want to replicate. Some guitarists will have a bright sound - turn down the bass knob to increase brightness. Some guitarists will have a "mid-focused" sound. Turn UP the mid knob and turn down the treble a little bit to get that type of sound.
      Hope that helps!
