Dark Bay Turkoman is my favorite horse in the game the Arabians are just to small and skittish. Second would be the Missouri fox trotter also a great horse.
I had a few of the Arabians but they are, as you say, to small. Every time I rode one it reminded me of grouchy grandma on her mule. I was happy to get the Turkoman he's just the right size. I like bigger war horses as well but like you the Turkoman is my favorite.

Yeah, the thing is, with this mission, you can get a white or black Arabian. The white Arabian spawns regularly at Lake Isabella. So, Arthur can get that infinite times. The black Arabian, ARthur can also get free in Chapter 2, but can also buy in Chapter 4. The Dark Bay Turkoman is the same speed as these horses. But it has maximum health.In my opinion, it is the best horse for battle. And Arthur doesn't get access to a similar horse until Chapter 6. So, this Turkoman is very special.

B marker on it disappears as soon as you save and reload just make sure you stable the Turkoman
You can also get the Arabians this way, but there are better ways of finding them
