This was SOOO helpful…I’m scheduled for VSG on May 17. My friend and I fly on the 13th. You really helped answer my questions and soothe my fears and nerves.
Yay!! It's going to be so great!! Follow me on Instagram, Tell Blossom my videos helped and let's connect! I love watching other Blossom Patients as they go through the process!
The gas pain, nausea, and just general discomfort were tough for those first few hours. But as soon as I got that first IV, I felt LOADS better. Luckily, I slept most of those first few hours on and off.
Thank you so much for this video! My surgery is coming up on Dec. 27. I'm a little nervous, but this gave me really good information. So nice to hear someone's perspective who has been through it!
Thank you SO much for this video. Next Tuesday is my day at BB and I'm having the SIPS and growing more and more nervous, but I know they do a great job.
@@asiacarter7387 The surgery itself wasn't painful, it was the gas they pump into your abdomen that hurts the most. The first 6-12 hours are the worst but it gets better from there. I was pleasantly surprised at how well and easy it went. I would do it again in a heartbeat!
Thank you for posting this! You have helped my anxiety! I have my VSG scheduled at Blossom on the 20th of this month and needed to hear this testimony! Did you get a endoscopy? You didn’t mention that and I think I signed some papers saying they would perform that the day before surgery.
Hey! So glad I could help with anxiety! I know I had so much. They did my upper endoscopy just before surgery, so I only went under once. But it seems most people have the upper endoscopy a few days before surgery. Congrats on your date!!! So soon!!
Did you have to get the IV implant and the tube down throat to check your stomach lining the day of pre-op checks? Just curious to how that goes… the throat thing makes me nervous 😬 thanks for your videos they are so helpful!
The IV is just in the upper arm and it's not annoying at all. I had my endoscopy the day of surgery, so I was only under once, but the common practice now seems to be the endoscopy is done the day before surgery (or a few days before). I didn't wake up with a sore throat or anything, and they put you out completely so you don't feel anything!
I called in early October and could have been sleeved as early as December, but I chose to wait until mid-January. If you are paying out of pocket and doing the Fasttrack program, there are very few hoops to jump through.
@@becomingbex4836 that's great! May I ask what your total was out of pocket? My insurance won't cover the actual procedure, but they'll cover my blood work and pre-op process. Thanks!
Dr. Matt (in his video) says we can take 1 pain med (narcotics) one hour later we can take 1 Tylenol, one hour later we can take 1 Ibuprofen. Did BB give you Tylenol and Ibuprofen as well as the narcotic? Thanks.
Hi, Congrats on this journey. I have been wanting to get my lip pierced and my surgery is scheduled for September. Did they make you take it out? I would rather do it now but dont want to do it if I will have to remove it for surger.
Hey! I don't remember but from my photos it looks like I took it out. I kept my earrings in but took out the lip piercing due to the anesthesia and intubation. I would suggest waiting until after the surgery to get it pierced.
I noticed that you did not have to have an Endoscopy on day two. I am scheduled for surgery on the 17th and all the videos say that I am having that Endoscopy. Is this new??? It was nice to hear all of this though. Eases some of my anxiety! ☺️
When I was scheduled, they did the endoscopy and surgery at the same time, so I only had to go under once. But it seems common practice now is to have the endoscopy the day before. :) So glad I could help your anxiety!!
Nope! I paid entirely out of pocket. That's why Blossom is so great. They were about 10k cheaper than getting it done locally at a hospital, and they do work with some insurances. Worth giving them a call for a quote!
Thank you this talk has helped a lot
I'm so glad!
I hate state insurance. I'm not sure if they will approve it. I'm wondering how much it would be paying out of pocket
Every place is different but I paid about $15.5k in 2021. I know their prices are higher now.

what did your last 'cheat meal' consist of and how many days before surgery did you have it?
They allowed me to have it the night before. I had Chipotle!

Yes, I got tylenol, ibuprofen, zofran, and percocet. You alternate the percocet/tylenol and the ibuprofen.

Hi hun, one question do you have to fast before?
I couldn't eat after 9pm the night before, but the Blossom diet is two shakes and one lean meat and veggie meal for preop.
Thank you!!!
You're welcome!
Are you on a payment plan? or did you have to pay the 15k at once?
I had to pay all $15k before surgery.
How long you can come back to work
I was out for two weeks (including four days before surgery. I felt good enough to come back after 7 days.
Did your insurance pay? My insurance won’t cover it.

You need to speak up please
I can't because I recorded this months ago. You could always turn on captions.
