- I recently purchased a Boss Katana 50 and it sounds killer. This video seeks only to demonstrate a shred tone. This amp sounds amazing at low volume. I am using the .5 watt power setting for this video. It really brings out the characteristics of the strat. A special thanks to Vinnie Anzalone for the backing track.
From the beginning you’re playing on almost exactly the tone I’m looking for! You have the Yngwie Malmsteen/EVH sound with this amp and that’s more than enough to convince me to buy it!! Thank you for shredding on this amp! Great video!!
We need another case study Johnny. Can't seem to get enough of those.
A Johnny Anderson Case Study
Lol, that would be fun lol.
"How Angus Young can play 50 years and still cant do anything but what he does, and no one cares, cause hes Angus F'ing Young...Right?!
woow awesome playing.
Also- you should post your basic settings here- I see below that you're using the Brown Channel- what else? This tone is VERY good- help a brother out man- next video is the settings for this tone tutorial!
Excellent demo.. that's what I want to see when researching an amp.. a great player playing so I can hear what it sounds like. I can figure out the settings on my own good job brother
Welcome back stranger. Keep these videos coming!
Thank you JC!
Great video Johnny, so glad you showed us how you have that Katana miced up, tone is incredible!!! Superior playing as always!!!
Thanks Jimmy!!!
Greetings from Sweden Johnny, really happy to see you again on RUclips!
Thanks you very much. Sweden, how cool is that? Really appreciate you watching!
Actually I found your chanel when searching for Vivian Campbell, really like your case study of him. Of course I am a fan of Yngwie too, my all time favorit song is ”I am a viking” Anyway you definatly have the Yngwie chops too!
Tearing it up as usual! Great demonstration on this amp, JA.. Sounds great!
Thanks CC!!!!!
Great to see and hear you...... Awesome!!!
Thank you!
Great to see you back!
Great to be back!
I have one myself and gig with it. I went in on my pc and sat my 4 channels and got the added footswitch. I love the thing!
It sounds amazing. I bet it sounds great out live.
Just found your channel John..wow very nice and very interested. Thanks for your time and effort.
So glad your back!!
Thank you very much. It has been too long. Still pressing forward!
Well I'm sure making videos becomes a chore... but there are alot of us with crappy lives and jobs that look forward to the new johnny anderson shred videos.. your humbleness and shred skills are really appreciated!! Thank you
It is a lot of work but rewarding. I cannot thank you enough for watching and supporting!
It's really classy how you built up to saying "balls". Also amazing guitar playing dude
Welcome back Sir.
Thank you so very much!
Great to see you again, sounding great. One trick pony, you're hilarious.
Glad to see a new upload from you sir and outstanding precision playing as always! I've just received my katana 50 last week, I haven't had alot of time to play around with it but at a first glance it really does live up to the hype...my Blackstar tube is going to have a little rest period I think. I've also just bought a donner noise killer pedal today without realising you can add something similar through the katana tone centre app!
the Tone Studio really opens up a lot of options. the parametric is killer and the noise gate is really nice.
Welcome back, Johnny!
It is great to be back!
Good to see u back.also I had surgery on my fingering hand like u did 3 weeks ago.it's going to take me some time to get back to normal..👍😃...
It is a long process. It has been almost a year since I injured mine and it is close to being all the way back! Hang in there!
Welcome back. You are correct Johnny. You can only access the Noise Suppressor through Tone Studio.
Thanks for having my back..i was a little unsure. LOL Thanks for watching.
Instant sub, your playing is immense!! I'm really hoping to get the Katana 100 1x12 and am super psyched about it. They seem to be constantly raved about and the perfect size for what I need!! Amp aside, totally dig your playing. Very very cool! Nicely done. 😊✌️👍
God damn. Well I guess I better get back to practicing. Ha ha. Nice vid man.
Thanks Paul!
That sound was Katana only? No Tube Screamer or anything in front? Pretty amazing.
Tearin' It Up Man!! Awesome!!
Thank you very much!
Awesome Johnny!
Thank you very much!
I have the small Katana Mini that’s 7 Watts I believe. I’ve had it a few months and love it more every time I play it. The clean, crunch and Brown settings really sound great. They delay sounds really natural. I’ve recorded with it as well and it sounds pretty good with a sm57. I have a 15 Tweaker that I love but find myself playing the Katana Mini most of the time. Batteries seem to last a long time or you can hook it to a power adapter. I’m thinking of getting rid of my old VOX VT50 and replacing it with the Katana 50 or the new Boss Nextones. Great amps.
I just purchased the Katana 100. Fun amplifier.
I have the 100 watt head and it sounds amazing and is LOUD! I also have a bugera G-20 and bugera 4x12 cab, a line 6 podxt live and numerous pedals but always seem to use the Katana because it’s so easy to get a killer tone!
Agreed. I have a HD500X which has gone silent since getting the Katana. I have a Bugera Trirec Infinium but it is gathering dust. I love the Katana. Thanks for watching, it is much appreciated.
I gig with my Katana 100 all the time. Get the GA-FC footswitch and you can switch up to 8 presets- and more! I'm the same way too- I stopped playing my Fractal AX8 and all my vintage tube amps since I got my Katana. I hated the cabinet it came with so I bought a MojoTone 15" tweed with a chassis cut to fit the Katana- sounds crazy good live at gigs- I get more compliments on my tone now they I ever did before. Very responsive amp- very good playing feel- just all around amazing tone to me. From clean John Mayer tones to shredding Yngwie- to Hendrix- to 80s hair bands- it's all in there! And the gain channels clean up properly with the volume on the guitar- full 15" cabinet and it weighs under 25lbs! That's important too for me anymore! No noise gate on the face of the amp- but you're right- TONS of stuff through Boss Tone Studio- and the library of effects out there is growing all the time. Super easy interface to use.
There are only good things about the Boss Katana 50 and that's a great thing because I have one. 😉🎸👍👍
My Dad has one and he loves it.
go Johnny go!!!! you are the King dude!!!!!!!
I just tried to get this tone through studio and my katana artist 100. Now where close. In all fairness, I spent only 10 mins or so. Please share these settings !
Sounds great Johnny they take little time to get tweaked the way you want it. but the tones are in there
Pleaaaaaase tell me how you dial in that tone, I tried hundred of different things but cant dial in an yngwie like tone
Great shredding chops.. the katana is a cool amp indeed.. are you using the Brown sound with clean boost.. what are your settings here..
Breaking Bad Good Amp. Welcome back Walt.
These sound great. My other guitar player uses the exact same amp. I’ve really enjoyed the tone...and weight! Getting older makes lifting gear a pain.
I paid the $100 and got the Roland GFS so have 8 presets don’t know if it works on the 50 watt combo. Sadly the 50 combo is very restrictive on stuff like that
The 50 is a bit restrictive which limits what you can do with it gig wise. It does sound amazing...and for playing at home you just cannot beat the tone and price. Thanks for watching.
Johnny Anderson I got the 100 watt with gigging in mind but am 55 and the 4 year battle with cancer has taken its toll so I know in my heart I’ll never gig again but just can’t bring myself to accept it lol
Which amp setting are you using here John? Brown sound?
I am using the Brown Sound setting. It is nice.
Johnny Anderson I figured haha. That's what I use on my gain channels. Wish I could get the sound you are with my strats. Haha!
Hey Johnny try the crunch setting.. gain maxed, bass 2o'clock mid 10:30, treble between 10:30 & and noon red overdrive 9o'clock turn master up to 2o'clock and use channel volume to adjust your level.. it's a nice liquid sustain tone!
I´m trying to get a tone like this with my katana but I can´t, what settings did you use?
I gotta say I like the tone and attack of the HD500 better, but the Katana is certainly hard to beat for around $200.
The HD500X is awesome. I have been unable to get really good clean sounds out of Line 6 products and I have had a ton of them and still do. Even the Behringer V-Amp had better clean tones. The Katana clean tones are stellar. thank you for watching, i really do appreciate it.
fantastic tone, am I hearing a bit of a vai influence at the end?
Definitely. Thanks for watching!
Hey Johnny, where did you get your Yngwie strat? Thanks
Some hot picking' there boy!
Hey Johnny you can upload your katana patches to guitarpatches.com. there are some yngwie ones on there but they aint that good. There are a ton of patches on there to mess with though. Pretty cool site.
What settings are you using?
Is there ANYone out there who has demoed some epic sounds on this amp without hooking up to a damned computer program? I own this amp and would love to see someone who has managed this.
Does it sound better than bias fx and the other computer emulators?
Long tome, no see...
It has been too long. Working on it. Thanks for watching...means a lot!
