Can this be done also with a 100A carbon pile battery load tester and a standalone amp clamp?
You know that has one button to activate the load.
I'm curious how my alternator is doing. Its replaced 2013 since my old gone bad and stopped charging. Stock was 120A and new 150A with software update for it as well so ECM/CEM know it's a 150A.
I might have some other issues. Might be AC ripple. When my electrical PTC heater turns on all my cars lights and lcd displays etc flickers. But stops flickering after a couple of minute when cabin has reached a better temperature and engine are more heated. The higher temperature I set cabin to the more it flickers.
Is the PTC bad? Is alternator causing this? Bad battery negative to engine ground?
It's a new battery.. though my car is alarming when it detects low battery if I sit inside car with radio and such on for a couple of minutes.
If I put my charger on it says that the battery is at least 80% charged so.. and charger completes like after 30min is so. 5A charger.
I don't have the 100A load tester yet and not the amp clamp either. But I will get them. Good tools to have. I have a Fluke 179 multimeter though. But measuring AC ripple at the battery directly isn't the best. Can't get to the alternator cause it's down below kind of unreachable. I think I was 70-100mV or something.
