@@michaelyarbrough254 Nate Sexton is Golden! I’m happy for him having more time with his family, but maybe there is a way to get him set up at a mic at his house or something! He reminds me of Kakashi!
Ezra chaining out and rolling OB will always be the meterstick by which I measure bad breaks. This one is .7 of that shot. If he went OB I would go .9.
It's a result of a terrible advertising design on these baskets. The DGPT needs to make sure that advertising doesn't result in these kinds of random bad breaks. They should WANT players to be running the baskets.
@@derpderpin1568 I don’t agree that the same thing would happen, it’s a smaller target and a different material. The material could easily be changed, or the advertising relocated.
We watched so many throws on hole 9 and cheered on anybody that cleared the gulch. It was crazy how few were able to land on the shelf up there. Antilla's drive was absolute class, just perfectly on line and lasered down to the circle. I've never been more impressed with a golf shot.
James, we love the speed, but please make sure you have the right disc if you're putting it in a graphic. I think you have missed at lease half of Joseph's throws and a few of AB's so far
Jomez Pro, please. This has been in my thoughts for years... can we get a figure for each hole measuring the net change in elevation from tee pad to pin? Just call it the Hole Slope. If uphill, it'll be a positive value and if it's downhill, it'll be negative. It just helps so much in visualizing what's going on and I think it deserves some real estate on the screen as some kind of infographic. Thanks!!!
Using am easy-to-calculatable figure like a slope (net elevation difference from tee to pin DIVIDED BY length of hole from tee to pin) would be perfect. Thanks again.
For me, this is one of the most important factors you're going to consider, along with the distance to pin, every time I approach the tee. I really think all of the regular viewers would agree this could be a very helpful calculation to provide. New viewers will be able to grasp at what's going on better, too.
Hole 4 when Paul says I like this hole and Jeremy says “ that’s just like your opinion man.” Pure gold. I love you two. Thank you for doing what you do, I truly appreciate you so much. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Ok...I really wanted to give the new intro music a chance, but after 3 days I feel like I'm having a seizure listening to it. That said, love Jomez. I'll put up with seizures for some awesome free content. Bring back the Drum snares. That intro was amazing!
I'm confused on Gossage's hole 9 play - Was he in a casual relief area or something? He wasn't OB, right? So why does he advance to an area "last in bounds" like Uli said? Or is this just a particular rule for this particular hole and not a general lie rule?
@@chriscooper142 No they were correct, it was officially scored a birdie 2. It's on his official pdga scorecard. And they did attempt to explain it, but I don't understand their explanation. I've never seen a hole scored that way when there's no OB, yet he didn't play from his actual lie.
The hill essentially plays like casual relief but with last in-bounds as your lie, since he hit the tree, which is in bounds he got to play from the top shooting 2
@@connorbrandt616 Thank ya! That's what I kinda gathered, weird rule. I think making the hazard area OB instead of casual makes a lot more sense on that type of hole. We'll see how they do it going forward.
Utah and Florida don't have much in common, but this course is the closest comparison I've seen to "The Fort" from the 2021 worlds. Both awesome courses with so much character
Great job on the coverage but I have one quick question, you show what disc is being used at the tee pad but why don’t you post the discs for the rest of the hole?
The way I understand, it plays as ob, but without the stroke. So that tree up top being past the line (safe) and falling back into the hill, the “last in” would be at the top of the hill. So instead of taking relief at the bottom he gets to take it at the top where he hit the tree
@@OldMan10923 thanks, very interesting. The standard is to make that area casual relief, but that would mean going away from the basket to take unpenalised relief. I guess the course designer wanted to be kinder to the players who unluckily fell back down the hill. Cool
What's up with the graphics issues for this tournament? Inconsistent spacing of disc numbers, not lining up the throw number background with the number, having the wrong number highlight in a couple cases, incorrect disc numbers (35:51 a dagger is 2 | 5 | 0 | 1 not 2 | 2 | 0 | 1). They've been rough on every MPO video so far. Hopefully this gets ironed out, last year was flawless.
please explain again the hole 9 tree kick OB minus the stroke incident for mr goose. 40:15 i understand why he has a lie there on top, but why is it for birdie?
15:55: that pricing structure is braindead. It's cheaper to go monthly, if you aren't a PDGA member. Plus if you go monthly you can unsub during the off-season. I know it's only 11 cents, but, someone failed their marketing class.
I kind of like hole 4. Not all holes need to be easy and that has options what route to take. So give it few times played and people figure out better ways on it :)
I never understood why first place goes first. They should go last as to get the benefit of wind read, plus it follows along the same idea of lead card going last.
Excited for the new season, thanks Jomez. I appreciate the retro synth-y intro music but the bleeps and blips can be a little distracting. Also, whatever font you’re using clearly doesn’t use Finnish characters lol. Väinö’s name looked crazy.
Jerm, on hole 3 you said "Ricky hit that little scrubby thing behind the basket-could have saved him 10 feet"... Were you talking about the Jomez cameraman??? LOL
Definitely doesn't hit as hard. Bring back the og. Does pdga own all sanctioned media rights then sell them to the network that bids like nfl? Or is dgpt raking in on all media rights selling tickets, subscriptions, if jomez is owned by dgpt then does the patreon money go to them as well? Sad to see you sold. Hope you kept some percentage of the company. Thanks for all the years of work.
On hole 1AB might actually be happy landing there. He's aware of his faults, and a 35-40' treacherous putt is a stress relief in comparison to a 25' open putt. Once he made the first round putt, he took 89% of his stress for this hole off the table
On the par 5 talk. The players should be playig the hole to make a stroke or stay even with the field, whether that's a birdie or a par. The par of the hole is irrelevant really to how a pro should play it. Just drop the hole par down a stroke or two so people aren't 33 under par at the end of a couple rounds. This course is set up perfectly par-wise and one of the rare ones on tour. Good job Paul.
Why did Aaron Gossage get a Birdie on hole 9? It was OB - he got to play it from the top - he made the putt - it is a par 3 - Drive - OB - Putt - is a 3 - not a 2? What am I missing?
The rule is that it's not actually OB. If you hit something up top you play it there minus the OB stroke. They are rewarding people trying to go for it. If you don't hit anything up top you just play for par.
Honestly good call from Jerm on hole 7... Rick running the second putt from down the hill was just really ill advised, let alone the first run.. he wasnt making that, tried to, threw it into a tree branch and got another roll away.. looked like an AM player. I rewatched that throw into the tree branch like three times and still couldn't see the disc roll down to the left. Bright red disc- have no idea what path it took. It just appears down there
